Well it's a very important game for Kuipers by the looks of it... Last chance for Atlético Madrid to take a shot at qualifying and if they don't win they're out... If Roma wins they'll qualify so important game this one for both the teams!!
ReplyDeleteSo, commitee member Bo Karlsson for Mazic, I would say important Reijgwart for Sidiropoulos and Young for Zwayer. Hamer for Aytekin, Steinborn for Orsato, Przesmycki for Taylor, Tulinger for Sousa, and already mentioned Sarvan for Kuipers.
ReplyDeleteMazic will get some European Final this year I'm sure... Which one that will be is the thing to see now :)
DeleteMazics 4th CL game this season, expecting to see him get 1-2 more games maybe some more then some FINAL because he deserved it with his hard work..
DeleteAbsolutely agreed... He deserves to end his career with a big final :)
DeleteSo among the big name referees we have Çakir and Marciniak for MD 6... Hategan, Kassai and Eriksson also not appointed in MD 5 so will most probably be on duty in MD 6... Does this mean that in case there are many crucial ties left in MD 6 some big name referees might have to repeat??
ReplyDeleteRocchi is also available and maybe Makkelie is already a candidate for an important match.
DeleteYes Rocchi is available... I forgot to count him
DeleteAlso Karasev and Oliver
DeleteKarasev is in Europa League and I think he wont appear in CL on MD6.
DeleteYes, Mažić takes the scene now. Fourth appointment, one of the previous assignments was a replacement, as we can easily guess, but still an excellent group stage for the Serbian. What I can point out is only the mistake in Roma - Atlético Madrid (handball) and then some offside problems in Monaco (of course this was exclusive responsibility of AR2). Overall, still a very solid picture and we can be sure, reading that he will be observed by a committee member, that he is considered or a final.
ReplyDeleteThis season I have't any doubt: either Skomina or Mažić will officiate Champions League final. It will be a very exciting "fight" between them. Performances in KO stage will be very important. However, let me also add that, since Skomina is out from EL final (he already handled it), in case of CL final assignment for Mažić, the Slovenian could be psychologically affected by this choice. The Serbian could retire after WC, while the Slovenian will have at least another season, I think.
We will see, but surely as for now this is the situation.
Since now, everytime we mentioned Mažić as a candidate for some final, he wasn't appointed.
DeleteSo, I will say no final for Mažić :)
Skomina has some more seasons left after this so I think he can wait for his chance for another season maybe... For Mazic this will most likely be his last year so it would be most fitting to have him in Kiev :)
DeleteYou mean last year to get the final?
DeletePS I'm not sure, did you understand what I wanted to say with 'no final for Mazic'? :)
DeleteMazic will be 45 by March 2018 so I can expect him to retire after the World Cup... Even if he takes the 1 year extension still 2018 will be his last chance of getting a European final... That's what I mean!! My reply was basically an affirmative to what Chefren said :)
DeleteI guess (and hope) Skomina for CL final and Mazic for EL final

ReplyDeleteBig mistake by AR2 Hacker.
Your opinions about the RC and penalty by De Sousa?
ReplyDeletesurreal decision.
ReplyDeletebut in portugal these faults are whistled.
Harsh but acceptable decision. Still very doutbful real foul. Light contact. Perhaps simulation by amplification. Not convinced but difficult job for refs here.
ReplyDeleteThere is pulling for hand. Extremely well seen. Also the fouled player has a control of the ball and would've been able to score, so good decision.

Agree Ray with this angle i didnt see before. Great decision. Well done by De Sousa.
DeleteThanks for the video, Indeed I had not watched this replay. 100% fully correct decision.

Overall, a very good performance in calm game with some difficult incidents. De Sousa was alert and firm throughout. A very good performance from both assistants, too!
My mark would be 8.5-8.6 if we assess the incident in 52' as correctly judged by the referee.
Excellent call by Mažić to book Paulinho for simulation! Well done!
ReplyDeleteTwo YC by Mazic until know, the second one a very good call for simulation.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone watching Björn Kuipers and Tasos Sidiropoulos?? 🤔🤔
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Sidirópoulos. An easy-going game so far.
DeleteI was switching between Paris and Madrid... I'll stick to Madrid for now then 😁
DeleteFantastic offside call by Sander van Roekel at 39'... Excellent spot!!
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Taylor, an easy first half but now... the big controversy.
ReplyDeleteMinute 40': all the stadium asked for a penalty in favor of Anderlecht there. Situation to be rewatched. I think penalty could have been given, if not even a clear one. But I need to rewatch.
Taylor had a turbulent last week in England at Selhurst Park in Crystal Palace v Everton match... Awarded a penalty for a dive and the player has now even been banned for 2 games!!
DeleteNow missed 2nd yellow against Spajic - instead of them YC against Boateng
DeleteBig moment in Madrid... Atlético Madrid goal disallowed by Kuipers at 41' for handball... Clear signal and good way of selling the decision!!
ReplyDeleteCorrect decision that one IMO... I think AR1 van Boekel made the call
DeleteIn case of goal scored by hand, it should be YC. I don't read any player booked, why?
DeleteIt wasn't a goal scored directly by hand... There was a handball in the build up to the goal by one ATM player!!
DeleteThanks.
DeleteWelcome Chefren :)
Delete41’ Handball before (disallowed) goal ATL
Deletehttps://streamable.com/xif76
Ok, arm is there, close to body, the ball hits it.
DeleteI don't think this is a punishable handball, but of course referee can be supported because such situations are now assessed also by using common sense. Nobody will complain, but surely the touch was not player's fault, only thing he could do to avoid that, was to put his arm, in a so short time, behind the back. Definitely impossible...
I agree with you... Either decision can be backed here... The fact it has been given also is acceptable, if it wasn't whistled then also it wouldn't have been wrong... Classical greyish area where either call becomes supportable :)
DeleteFaultless first half by Milorad Mažić in Juventus-Barcelona. The refereeing is overall on expected level, some bits of tension though have been inside the first half. Mažić is in control of everything, two correct bookings for Pjanic (21', SPA) and Paulinho (30', simulation).
ReplyDeleteAtlético Madrid v Roma is getting livelier... Things are starting to happen in the 2nd half as ATM make one last try of not getting knocked out!!
ReplyDelete83' : Roma down to 10 men... Bruno Peres has been sent off by Kuipers for a 2nd bookable offence...
ReplyDeleteCorrect decision?
DeleteAbsolutely deserved 2nd YC.
Deletehttps://streamable.com/qrr5h
DeleteYes Chefren... Saw some replays and looks correct to me :)
DeleteThanks, correct second YC. However, I don't understand the gesture made by Kuipers with his left arm before whistling the free kick.
DeleteEven I'm not sure... What can it probably be??
DeleteHe always signals an advantage with one hand, so I suppose it was an advantage.
DeleteMight be well possible... Yes it's absolutely correct that Kuipers signals advantage with a single hand so RayHD's explanation is the most plausible here!!
DeleteStill doubts. Advantage in favor of Roma, while Atlético is playing the ball?
DeleteIMO, he deemed that jump as a foul and let Atlético continue their action. The question is whether it was a real advantage.
DeleteParis - Celtic

45+1' - Penalty incident, unfortunately no replay was shown
https://streamable.com/bfbe0
46' - Stamp, Mr. Sidirópoulos judged it as fully accidental.
https://streamable.com/rn77g
45+1' : At first glance, it's nothing for me... Play on!!
Delete46' : Not entirely sure about whether it's deliberate or not but we can definitely back the referee!!
I have a question to ask : With Group B all settled now and PSG and Bayern Munich all certain to take the 1st and 2nd position respectively... Can we expect a 1st category official expecting promotion like Michael Oliver assigned to that match considering the fact that the match is redundant and will have no bearing in standings in that group??
ReplyDeleteUnless Bayern win 4-0≤, I think (?) you are correct.
DeleteI don't expect a First Category, because:
=> It is too big for a First, not in contention for promotion
=> Not a good match to evaluate a potential promotion candidate, especially as a final test
=> I don't think a First should really attend Bayern - Paris, tbh, in any case
Equivalent match last year whistled by Turpin. Maybe a similar designation (I was thinking Makkelie but CEL-BAY) or a kind of fairwell gesture, I would be a very nice match to conclude the international career of Martin Atkinson, but I fear that has already happened.
Oliver to a match like a non-direct duel for Second position, imo, in Matchday Six.
Actually this thought came to my mind because a referee like Oliver keeps managing Liverpool v Chelsea, Arsenal v Tottenham, Man Utd v Man City in Premier League week after week so after all Bayern v PSG won't be too unsuitable for such referees... But yes maybe names like Hategan are more suitable for the game (?) :)
DeleteConsidering that Oliver can't be sent to groups A, C, E, F, H and has already had matches in D, G- maybe Munich is the only option.
DeleteAgainst this background I would rather see him in a crucial EL match, if UEFA will promote him at Christmas, of course he is a referee on CL level but an essentially dead match cannot be a good final test.
After Belfast, Hategan is a good shout who I could well imagine.
Only in case of 4-0 by Bayern, the German team will be group winner. I think that this game could be a farewell for Craig Thomson. If I'm not wrong, in Scotland age limit is 45 and he is about to retire. Can you confirm that?
Delete@Mikael Oliver is eligible for matches like Feyenoord v Napoli as the result of that match will have no impact on Man City's standings... So Oliver is eligible for that game!!
DeleteFeyenoord - Napoli is indeed a good option for Oliver.
DeleteAnother option is Roma v Qarabag!! But I would prefer Feyenoord v Napoli for him... It's a playoff for Europa League kind of!!
DeleteSorry I was wrong... Feyenoord is already eliminated as is Qarabag... So both matches are absolutely at par... Oliver might be given either but at the same time I'm of the opinion that he should be tried in a match like Bayern Munich v Paris Saint-Germain!!
DeleteI think it would be better for Oliver if he gets Fey-Nap, because it is more important match, if Napoli wins they can still go to KO stage
DeleteExcellent Mazic in Turin. I would say faultless performance (if we exclude situation when Pique stood on Costa's hand non-deliberately, what Mazic couldn't seen because he was marked by Costa's body - that happened just before Mazic correctly denied penalty appeal due to Pique's tackle on Douglas Costa which was very soft). All YCs correct, all decisions good. Mazic and his team could be very satisfied by their performance last night. They are one big step closer to one of the European finals.
ReplyDeleteI would agree on that. In the second half, we could see the "typical" Mažić trying to avoid cards as much as possible, we can potentially discuss about 1 or 2 missing YC (70' SPA? - 90' Tripping?) but that's a minor thing in the big picture. Overall a (very) convincing performance by the Serbian officials, always in control of the whole match, no attempts by the players to dissent the referee and that should be a good sign, especially when you're having a committee member as an observer. I'd be on 8.4-8.5 level (I prefer 8.5).
Deletehttps://streamable.com/3mjus
ReplyDeleteHave your say on this situation from Zwayer's game.
Please assume that player was in offside, because watching the video, it is possible he wasn't. So, in case, regular goal?
In case of offside position it should be offside, imo.
DeleteCopa Libertadores - final (first leg) - referee: Bascunan
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/LbhJEOujqPE
Last action of the game. Clear push in the back but neither referee nor VAR don't see an infringement. Big chaos after the final whistle.
Some rumors are that VAR didn't intervene because Bascunan whistled for the end of game. It's not true (or at least shouldn't be true, because:
"The referee may not change a decision on realising that it is incorrect or on the advice of another match official if play has restarted or the referee has signalled the end of the first or second half (including extra time) AND LEFT THE FIELD OF PLAY or terminated the match"
Very interesting, thanks.
DeleteAt first I can confirm what you wrote, even in case of final whistle (first half / full time), immediately after a potentially crucial incident to be assessed by VAR, it is allowed to start the review and in case referee can call the player back on the field to take the decisions (both technical and disciplinary ones). We had a similar situation in a serie A game on last Sunday, when referee whistled the end of first half immediately after a possible penalty for handball. There was however VAR's silent check.
So, having said that, a clear penalty had to be detected by VAR officials there.
While watching i saw referee had whistle in his mouth (he saw the incident), i dont know why he didnt whislted there..
