ReplyDeleteJuan Zumba (El Salvador) and Juan Carlos Mora (Costa Rica) will be Aguilar's ARs!
DeleteGassama in the yellow kit
ReplyDelete3' : Penalty appeal by Peru... Waved away by Gassama!
ReplyDeleteBall wasn‘t played...
DeleteFor sure in this case for me, despite of the fact that ball was not reached, the call is fully supportable and I agree with VAR that supported the choice.
DeleteIf the VAR intervene only when is obvious mistake in PK area, then ref shouldn't go to see the incident on the monitor, but immediately to point to the penalty spot. But, I don't think things are going in that way...
DeleteYes, I agree, but this was dangerous by the defender. He should be more cautious in the next scenes.
DeletePossible penalty now but in this case "not enough" is definitely appropriate, in any case, very risky from defender...
ReplyDeleteYes not a clear situation by any means... So I back Gassama!
DeleteAlready a possibly-missed penalty.
ReplyDeleteWow. I did not think he should even consider a penalty
ReplyDeleteIt seems as AR1 Birumushahu changed the decision originally taken by Gassama.
ReplyDelete15' excellent no PK + goal kick decision
ReplyDeletePlus excellent sportsmanship from Peru player confirming the decision
DeleteVery good to see Gassama corrects initially wrong corner call. Shows modesty and that he has a good distance to himself.
DeleteGassama is very determined in his decisions, very good. He can make a wrong assessment, but basically this is a more than good attitude from the Gambian.
ReplyDeleteGreat offside after free kick
ReplyDelete21' excellent minimal offside signaled immediately
DeleteSo far, the assistant referees in all games have been not so much busy, only a few offside calls, now a very good one by Birumushahu.
ReplyDeleteBut surely that's particular so far in so many games, no particular offside / onside incidents...
Good Gassama till now... Makes a very good impression :)
ReplyDeleteThis is 7th match and still no red cards, and small number of yellow cards. Only 14 in 6 matches, with several missed. Very clean play so far.
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC by Gassama
ReplyDelete37' : Small offside correctly called by Etchiali
ReplyDelete43' : Penalty appeal of Peru waved away by Gassama and we have an on-field review!
ReplyDeleteThis penalty had to be whistled live, given the kind of incident, in my opinion a clear foul.
ReplyDeleteCorrect VAR intervention and OFR. Penalty given.
ReplyDeleteCorrect, and compulsory VAR intervention. Tricky situations, in most cameras it was obstructed, but enough to see: clear penalty.
ReplyDeleteYes this was tricky. Gassama looked at the replays properly and made the right call.
DeleteDisagree chefren. Very difficult situation here. Seems to be simulation at first view. Good decision with VAR by Gassama.
ReplyDeleteCorrect intervention by Zwayer and this is how VARs should be... And proper dealing with the situation by Gassama with a simple play on gesture and no yelling or shouting to the player to get up!
ReplyDeleteWhat about stopping before kicking?
ReplyDeleteRun up was not complete!
DeleteA more than clear penalty even on live view. At least this time VAR worked.
ReplyDeleteWas slightly tricky, I thought and Gassama had not a great positioning!
DeleteNot good positioning by Gassama, too far away.
DeletePenalty was clear, if he had been closer to penalty area, he would have whistled it.
Good decision. Good work by VAR, with some exemptions. In previous games!
DeleteActually, it was not that clear live. The Danish defender hits Cueva's right foot and not the supporting foot (left one). Watching the very first replay, I got the impression the Peruan player put on an act. Excellent move by Zwayer and then Gassama acted in accordance with the protocol.
DeleteIf only the Geiger-Marciniak pair could do the same :(
DeleteGreat onside before 0-1
ReplyDeleteExcellent onside 59'.
DeleteGood Jean Claude Birumushahu :)
Delete57' small offside missed (or on hold) from AR2. At the end he put the flag up. Maybe just wait and see.
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly a case of holding the flag because the flag only went up once the play was over and there was no other offside situation that he could possible be signaling for.
DeleteThe FO is telling people on the left side bench to calm down and sit down
ReplyDeleteDid not work very well, there were often 4 people standing also afterwards.
DeleteWrong YC IMO in 86'.
ReplyDeleteAt least no confused and unsteady Gassama as last year during ConfedCup. Solid performance today.
ReplyDeleteI think he has done well. A lot on here have maligned him in the past but I think he has performed admirably
ReplyDeleteTwo good advantages by Gassama in the last minute of the game.
ReplyDeleteGerman commentator praised Gassama for his good performance. I can agree. Well done, but of course he was lucky that there is VAR.
ReplyDeleteEurope-Rest of World 3-1-0 so far. Only Island draw, but against Argentina.
ReplyDeleteHooray! :)
DeleteGassama as strong and impressive as in Brasil. Excellent management and communication. Good to see him back again like that. Very well done!
ReplyDeleteHe has certainly improved when compared to the past. The corrected penalty via VAR is not good for his performance, but in general he was good.
ReplyDeleteVery good Gassama today... Missed penalty corrected by VAR and Gassama showed a performance like in Brazil 2014... A 2nd group stage match will most definitely follow this time :)
ReplyDeleteThat was the Gassama I want to see. Excellent performance, VAR assistence for the penalty is acceptable as well, as not as easy to see.
ReplyDeleteOverall solid performance from Mr Gassama. Nice body language, good communication.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Gassama and his team, very good performance.
ReplyDeleteQuestions for all: Was it easier for Gassama to call PK and then review it via VAR, or to wait for the first time when the ball was out of play? Which was the right way to do it?
One remark about the penalty: I think Gassama doesn't miss the foul, but
ReplyDeleteI think he wasn't fully convinced that this was worth of a PK. Because in the first penalty appeal earlier in the match he immedeatly signalled to play on. This signal didn't come in the second situation.

I re-watched the situation from 3rd minute. For me it's penalty.
ReplyDeleteFirstly Poulsen touched the leg of peruvian player and only after that he touched (softly) the ball. Anyway, the ball remained in same position, you can't say that Poulsen really "played" the ball.
Your views on the penalty not awarded to Argentina at 77' yesterday??
Delete@petschovschi, it's a penalty for me, too
