    Definitely seems like League A & League B for Elite referees, League C for First referees and League D for Second referees.

    Excellent appointment for Papapetrou. UEFA is interested in him and correctly so. IMO, he can reach higher than Sidiropoulos.

      Their women's team already forfeited a match. And yet the DBU still put's the men's team in this situation. So I wouldn't be surprised if Denmark's Futsal team and the Amateurs are the ones who take the pitch against Bale and Co.

      It reminds me penalty whistled by Karasev included in RAP. Conclusion was that only clear offences should be whistled. It's not a clear offence, so play on would be optimal in this case.

      I was watching the highlights from Georgia-Latvia match. If the penalty given by Sidiropoulos would be described as harsh, the one given by Papapetrou was a joke. Greek refs should change their approach and attitude when they ref abroad. Any contact is not a penalty.

      a joke penalty.At least, the penalty given by sidiropoulos can be justified. This one is the definition of simulation.

      I watched both penalties.

      I agree with RayHD about the scene. Play-on should be the decision. Ok, defender puts his arm in front of the attacker but such a slight contact shouldn't be enough for a penalty.

      About Papapetrou. IMO, a clearly wrong call by AAR1. It should have been a IFK + YC for simulation.

      I have a remark. This is what you get when AAR1 of an inexperienced FIFA referee is not FIFA and equally inexperienced of that level. Yet, it's not the only bad decision we have seen by the duo Pereira/Tritsonis.

      Indeed another problem for Greek refereeing is that at moment tey have only Sidiropoulos as experienced FIFA referee, all the other names are not so expert, they need for sure a guidance, but without Sidiropoulos there isn't any choice.
      In addition, I can guess that NO FIFA Greek referees never worked as AAR regularly...

      A soft penalty is still a penalty. The other one is one of the worst calls I have seen recently. I dO NOT think Papapetrou after this call should be given a match in Europa League. As far as Sidiropoulos is concerned, I expect the same pattern as last year. Unimportant champions league matches with negative effect on him taking part in the next Euro.

      Papapetrou will be his AAR1 in champions league. The second one will probably be Papadopoulos; an inexperienced-not very talented-new FIFA ref. Assistants will stay the same. I think only him is expected to get matches in european competitions.With Vassaras as head of greek refereeing, We used to have three refs in European competitions.

      That's a very hard statement on Papapetrou. Yes, he made a mistake (probably suggested by AAR1) but he is certainly the future of Greek refereeing.

      The problem is even bigger if you consider that Greece lost 3 FIFA referees this summer (they were taken off the SL list because a team demanded it -> Kalogeropoulos, Mantalos, Aretopoulos). Plus Kominis is on the list but he will lose the FIFA badge. So 4 FIFA refs out. That's why Evangelou was appointed.

      Sidiropoulos is ony 39 years old.He should be boosted into one big competition.He has potential but he lacks experience in big games.He has missed some opportunities to shine but he is still capable of refereeing in a competitive level.

      Sidiropoulos is not in a good form. He constantly makes crucial mistakes. That's why UEFA can't trust him with big matches. If his season is similar to the last one with less significant matches and no CL KO match, then I fear that he may be demoted.

    This Bulgaria v Norway match is getting very testy, very quick. I do not think Stefanski is doing well. He has just finally given a card for SPA after ignoring 2 or 3 clear reckless fouls.

      I caught a bit of the second half and Stefański did a reasonable job, more rigourous disciplinary criterion than what you described for 1H and good control on the pitch.

      The first time I saw him was in Skënderbeu - Partizan; outstanding performance, I was sure in spite of his age he could reach Elite. But it seems he is too lenient too often, and especially in Dortmund he rather missed his chance...

    Waiting for a video of better quality, it looks like a very soft if not wrong call. Attacker goes deliberately toward the defender who almost does nothing, in order to get a penalty. Also, it seems as the whistle by Papapetrou was delayed. Suggested by AAR1?

    A very important statement about Portugal - Romania Under 21.
    As on the blog there were some allegations about referee Palabiyik, I must clarify some things after having checked directly the game.
    9 minutes of added time in second half is a fully justified choice, as there were at least two major breaks (about 63' and 72'), both lasted about 3 minutes, so you have already 6 minutes to be recovered.
    Then, in addition, there were other substitutions and the sending off.
    Referee was entitled to assign 9 minutes, there isn't anything strange.
    Coming to decisions, maybe the penalty is a wrong call, but of course this can happen in every minute of the game.
    All the rest is at least supporable.
    So, for sure, a "normal" performance, and I wont accept anymore speculations on this blog, even more from people who didn't watch the entire game.
