Potential hot match for Cakir.. if he manage well next stop will be SF or Final.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, it will not be a repeat of his Euro 2016 R16 match Spain-Italy. Good luck, Cuneyt!
ReplyDeleteYes, he indeed overtakes Anders Frisk (8 matches 1996-2004) today.
ReplyDeleteKuipers has 7 at the moment, so still could reach the 9 during this tournament.
Some people are already preparing their 'This is a poor performance, he is going home, no final!!!' speech😊.
ReplyDeleteBut as for me, I wish Mr Cakir the very best.
Always friendly and nice to see Cakir at the toss
ReplyDeleteΙ storngly believe that Cakir will di a solid perfomance. He is a very experienced referee. Wish him all the best.
ReplyDeleteHi guys. Is is true that Lahoz and Turpin already finished euro?
ReplyDeleteNo official info released. We can't confirm this news.
DeleteIn my country it is said that Lahoz, Turpin, Dias, Grinfield, Ekberg and Kovas already leaved Istambul
DeleteEkberg is 4th official right now in Copenhagen.
DeleteI have to say that today those news have started to appear in Spain too... from the same source that yesterday said the opposite thing.
DeleteWhat we really know at the moment is that the info about Ekberg was not fully correct, and that Grinfeld has left according to his AR.
3 whistles in 10 minutes. All of them are right. Fully under control. He is doing great so far.
ReplyDeleteGood performance in first 15 minutes by Cakir
ReplyDelete19' not a punishable handball, very quick check.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that. Excellent team work.
Delete19’ Play on, right decison.
ReplyDeleteGood handball interpretation.... congratulations cakir...
ReplyDelete!9' No handball. Too close, plus the arm was in natural position.
ReplyDeleteExcellent play on from Çakir
ReplyDeleteExcellent 30 minutes from Cakir
ReplyDeleteYeah, and the match is incredibly intense.
DeleteVery good warning to Ante Rebic after his second foul in a row btw.
ReplyDeleteDid Cakir just play advantage after the possible handball penalty which resulted in a goal?
ReplyDeleteIf so, wow
I dont think so. The arm is in a natural position. IMO play on is a correct decision. No penalty
DeleteNever a penalty.
DeleteIt was not punishable handball IMO and he didn’t make advantage gesture.
DeleteNo, he made a gesture that the ball hit the chest
DeleteI think, the decision correctly was "play on", which is the better decision, because it wasn't a punishable handball and giving advantage there would be rather questionable anyway.
DeleteOkay, thank you, wasn't able to see it that clearly
Delete@Anonymous i meant he didn’t give advantage :)
DeleteHis decision was play on and that was correct decision. There is no advantage in penalty box!
DeleteThere is, what if you get fouled, but still manage to score?
DeleteYou want a penalty or the goal?
That is called delayed whistle. It is possible to do that only if it is 100% obvious that delayed whistle can result in goal scored.
DeleteI asked myself, too. Not sure...
ReplyDeleteVery very solid Cakir. Great match control and foul detection. SF calling.
ReplyDeleteWembely calling :)
DeleteI'd say Final calling!
DeleteWembley*
DeleteWhat about Kuipers?
DeleteFinal belongs to Kuipers know that Netherlands is knocked out
DeleteMasterclass 1H by Cakir team.
ReplyDeleteRather easy match so far for Cakir. Good, expected level performance so far by the Turk.
ReplyDeleteFar from easy. Lots of handball incidents, aggressive play. Refereeing Latin and Balkanic teams is never ever easy.
DeleteReally good Çakir in first half and we have to say it was not easy at all.
ReplyDeletePerfect first half for cakir. Wish the best for the rest of the game, it is going to be difficult.
ReplyDeleteExcellent first half performance - if he continues this, then he's sure to be involved in one of the last 3 matches!!
ReplyDeleteTaylor and Cakir have really been top performers so far.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteGreat first half for Cakir. Well done!
ReplyDeletehe's had so many SFs in his career. This time it could be more, the final would be more deserving for him than for kuipers
ReplyDeleteAgreed. He's in top form. I would say probably the best Cakir in years, clearly making his case for the final.
Delete+1
ReplyDeleteOne of better performances in this EC.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent performance from Cakir. He made his work look easy by being very consistent with his foul selections, with little fuss.
ReplyDeleteHe kept himself very much in the background, which is an hallmark of great refereeing.
Excellently waved off potential pk for Vida's potential handball on 18'. He also waved off a PK for a potential handball against Garcia.
Excellent first half from the veteran Turkish referee.
After yesterday some fans r silence..thats good we can concantrate the match and referee ..
ReplyDeleteThis time I agree with Çakır's fanclub :) His approach is exactly opposite to Brych's one yesterday. Full focus and control, assessing every single incident very carefully what is perfectly visible by his gestures. Quick and sophisticated reactions to even small signs of dissenting behaviour. This is how big games should be handled. If he continues like that in second half, he is the no1 candidate for the final. Well done!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant performance so far: great foul detection, perfect use of advantage, communication is calm, respectful and clear, body language is confident. Challenging game so far. It is so fulfilling watching an experienced refetee using the right tool for each moment. I wish team Cakir all the best for 2H
ReplyDelete@Panterwe
ReplyDeleteSome people only like to comment only on referee's mistakes. So some of them are waiting patiently for Cakir to make an error so that they can bash and tear him apart.
+1
Delete+20000
DeleteCakir casually dropping a 10/10 performance.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Cakir ever talked so much to the players in his entire career! :)
ReplyDelete2 correct OFFSIDE decisons by Duran and Ongun.
ReplyDelete73' Another good play on decision. No handball. Koke has the arm held to the ground before contact.
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC shown to Brozovic for dissent
ReplyDeleteI liked Çakır's face when he booked Brozović for protests. Zero tolerance. Not a punishable handbalk, though.
ReplyDeleteI must say in this tournament I'm watching a very good display from the Turkish.
Maybe in past he had lost some of this "energy"...
Let’s not forget the politic pressure on him.
DeleteCorrect yellow card. No penalty.
ReplyDeleteStrong personality
Today Cakir is excellent.
There are a lot Cakir fans here. But i should say that he is still one of the best referee in the world. We are very lucky to watch him today
Excellent performance so far of Cuneyt Cakir. Like his style.
ReplyDeleteAnother excellent reaction on YC.
ReplyDeleteGood YC and prevention of a possible confrontation right now, he is very focused.
ReplyDeleteHe is going yo have a fourth match for sure. Well deserved.
ReplyDeleteVery very very Proactive Cakir Today
ReplyDeleteTrust me, if Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Pepe were in this Croatian team today, this match will be have been far more ugly due to loads of play acting, moaning and unnecessary aggression.
ReplyDeleteCakir has performed excellently so far, but it must also be said that the players too have largely conducted themselves well.
Please this comment isn’t called for, I try to understand but still can’t, first of all you actually do insult the players you listed above all at what cost ??, just to defend a referee from yesterday that we are all done with from talking about, but decides to bring on a hopeless argument!!! Cakir is handling the match well and just possibly will handle the players you mentioned above well also, so please dead your Felix Brych defense in today’s matches, they are well independent matches, thank You.
DeleteGreat stoppage of mass confrontation. Very good use of yellow card. Cakir is very focused. I would make him straight to final!
ReplyDeleteNow very good communication to signal goal.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say about Cakir. Love to see him like today. He still is or is again the pure cool elegance, a real master on the field. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great referee... excellent clear communication skills, perfect foul détection, expérience... Cakir for the final, it’s my choice
ReplyDeleteGoal line technology! When’s the last time that happened?
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, I only started watching in the second half, but Cakir might be the best player manager since Jonas Eriksson. He’s always excellent at sensing the temperature of the match and defusing confrontations. Tonight is no exception, and he does well with a heated match, frustrated Croatians and stalling Spanish players.
Players have been focused on playing game, but great moments of refereeing helping the game to flow. Stepping in when needed with great communication. Not the most challenging game but always there when required to keep the game in his hands.
ReplyDelete1/4 or even semi?
Incredible 3-3... and now we will have extra time!
ReplyDeleteBest match so far--by far!
DeleteI think we see a great performance from the whole refereeing team. Both ARs faultless as well.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this continues in overtime, what a great game!
What a game!
ReplyDeleteI think, delegate Surbatovic is from Serbia, not from Croatia.
ReplyDeleteSorry Peter, my mistake, fixed.
Delete90+5 cakir missed a foul near to penalty area...
ReplyDeleteAbsolute masterclass from Cakir in 90mins - has made a challenging game look effortless. If the observer deducts any marks, I’d love to know what for!
ReplyDeleteVery calm authority but equally takes no nonsense. Strong body language when needed and I really liked that his ‘warnings’ were actually warnings - he insisted the player listened rather than a token gesture. This is so important if trying to avoid YCs in style of tournament.
YC for dissent was spot on - player publicly running at him to argue. Would have been easy to ignore, as no cards at that point.
YC for persistence was also excellent, well timed and he prevented any issue by running over quickly.
ARs did very well, especially AR1 with excellent tight offside decisions. Bet he was glad of the goal technology, as would have been very difficult to get right with ball in the air and bodies in the way.
For me, faultless so far …
After I heavily critisized Brych yesterday, today IMO an exceptional performance by Cakir. He is extremely alert from the very beginning, always quick with his reactions no matter if we talk about a little bit harder foul, initiation of dissent or a conflict situation, a surpreme body language and many years of experrience of a high level refereeing are on show tonight. Also he fulfilled his obligations and showed the mandatory cards without hiding behind any instructions by the committee. I must admit that I am not his biggest fan but tonight he got all my respect. I didn't want to take away positives from him by comparing with Brych's performance yesterday but I think it is innevitable. The contrast is almost shocking when we remember the lethargic, irresponsible to the safety of the players and insulting to football behaviour of the German. The difference is for everybody to see. Credit where is due to. Well done, Mr. Cakir.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have learned a lot from watching Cakir and wished he had gotten higher matches at this year's Champions League, maybe being punished for missed penalty kick call in last year's Barcelona CL game, perhaps unfairly so.
DeleteAlso I would like to add that I always opposed the saying that 'staying in the background' is a good marker for the referee. Cakir's alertness and quick reactions without 'staying in the background' actually added to this madnificent evening of football.
DeleteNice performance from Çakir so far, love his alertness
ReplyDeleteIMO this was the best performance of the tournament as whole referee team. I haven’t seen even a minor mistake from them. He has 30 more minutes for an appointment at Wembley.
ReplyDeleteAs Croatian, I must say that this is best refereeing in our latest history!
ReplyDeleteI agree, so far the best 90 minutes officiated on this tournament.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Çakir, good luck for the ET
ReplyDeleteI have never been the biggest fan of Çakir. But it is clear, and one has to admit, he is excellent so far. I hope he continues like that in extra time. Superb match to watch!
ReplyDeleteWhy is Ceferin angry with Cakir?
ReplyDeleteSome mistake against Slovenian national team in qualifiers
DeleteThanks
DeleteTwo words for Cakir: too good.
ReplyDeleteEven Cakir's choice of uniform is spot on: a handsome blue that brightly contrasts with players' uniforms.
ReplyDeleteCacir is worthy of praise today, but that statement is ridiculous. You know that yourself, I'm sure of that ;)
DeleteOh, my, your comment made me laugh so hard: a missed foul or a wayward comment will not be missed by this group!
DeleteHope Brych is watching cause Cakir is showing how one should handle a very challenging 1/8 final. Bravo. If he continues like this we have at least one sure bet for one of the three last matches
ReplyDeleteI think it is not true to compare Brych and Cakir.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are good and experience referees.
This is a tournament. Yesterday Brych didnt show good performance and today Cakir is excellent.
But both of them are very good referees
Ok so now after 24 hours, some people here still say Brych showed good performance yesterday. I really can't understand their standard lol
DeleteYou should read more carefully Sam
DeleteSorry I missed that :) but I am talking about other people who said Brych did a good job yesterday
DeleteGood ONSIDE by AR1 now. Assistant referees with a good performance as well.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was a neutral viewer, what a game!
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of Cakir, but I have to say, he proved himself is one of the top referees again and again. I wish him all the best!
ReplyDeleteJust over 3 minutes total for the celebrations after each goal in extra time but only one added on, refs should really be keeping an eye on the length of time lost.
ReplyDeleteDid you actually sit and time that to try and find a 'negative' in a wonderful performance ? If so then wow, i've seen it all now.
DeleteI'm sure even you can do basic maths with the clock in the top corner.
DeleteSuppose it's up to you whether you think it's a negative or not. But it seems to be happening more often, where TV shows umpteen replays and still the players are walking back to their own half (there was no VAR review holdup in this case).
This is one of the BEST refereeing performances I have seen on a football pitch since the beginning of COVID.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)))
DeleteWhat happened with Brych's one yesterday?
DeleteBrych fell flat on his face.
DeleteCakir's has great fitness, running hard and keeping up with the play even in extra time.
ReplyDeleteKuipers for a possible Spain-France?
ReplyDeleteKuipers or Orsato
DeleteNot Orsato. They'd be Italy's next opponents.
DeleteKuipers or Oliver.
DeleteThe best referee performance of EURO2020... Roberto Rossetti has 1 Final referee candidate...
ReplyDeleteI hope so, Cakir definitely deserved this achievement, we will see......
DeleteCakir with the performance of the tournament. Surely, surely he’s just booked his ticket to Wembley. Chapeau to all three officials.
ReplyDeleteCakir team will definitely continue.
ReplyDeleteCakir was a real class act for the whole 121 mins. By far the very best of the tournament in a very tricky game. There is no bigger test than this one: top quality teams, aggressive play, lots of possible handball PKs, high pace in extra time. Cakir passed with flying colors. The most competent refereeing display of the season by a mile. If this is not worthy of a Final appointment...
ReplyDeleteIf performance counts, Mr Cakir has all the conditions to be at Wembley on 11th July. What a performance by the whole refereeing team. Masterclass!
ReplyDeleteIMO the biggest surprises for me in this tournament are Karasev and Siebert. I had an impression that Karasev could never performed well on the pitch, but he really surprised me in this EURO. I may need to say sorry to him because of my bias. For Siebert, he will have tons of opportunities in the future, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteKarasev deserves a QF appointment. Very focused from the very beginning of Euro.
DeleteIf I was Rosetti, I would keep Çakır directly for the final. Brych's tournament is over. Orsato and Kuipers are not fit enough and their performances were not the best. There is no need to risk. Çakır deserves it after today's performance. And it's me who was not fully satisfied after his previous performances (especially HUNPOR).
ReplyDeleteCakir put on a clinic. Final would be well deserved.
ReplyDeleteNo guys, Cakir won’ get the final unfortunately. Rosetti already decided: it will be one of the 2 Dutchies. But another semi final would already be fantastic for him. Cakir has the most EC games of all referees still active : his career is already exceptional.
ReplyDeleteDid you ask Rosetti?
DeleteAfter today's performance, that would be unacceptable.
Delete*of all referees ever (see first comments under this post)
DeleteStrong performance by Cüneyt Cakir. He has good communication and body language.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that he can whistle in London on 11th July. For me is Cakir as final candidate from Rosetti.
+1
Delete+1
DeleteOnly 2 YCs in hot match like this. Some other referees would need 10+ cards to manage this match!
ReplyDeleteThat is also something that stood out to me. Classic performance from Cakir and his team.
DeleteAs a Turk, I have been watching Çakır for last 15-16 years and easily I can say this is his best performance of his career. Even when he reached CL Final, he didn't have that kind of a performance. I hope he ends his international career with a Euro 2020 final...
ReplyDeleteIt would be the icing on the cake for a very good career and fully deserved after today's impeccable performance.
DeleteGuys if you want to know the secret of Cakir for this new chapter of his life, just look at him!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteFree refeering lessons from Mr Cakir,,directly he can fly to Wembley tonight..
ReplyDeleteReplyDelete
By taking the referees performance in this competition only, i have to conclude, that the seven remaining matches (4QF, 2SF, Final) should be refereed by Rapallini, Karasev, Kuipers, Vincic, Cakir, Siebert and Taylor.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Oliver? He's done everything well so far. Siebert should not progress after that RC.
DeleteSiebert?? Really? Let's be serious.
DeleteBased on his performances Siebert would deserve another match but there are also other referees like Oliver and Vincic who should get another match.
DeleteI don't think Siebert deserves another match. That hasty red card showed he's not up to the task. At least not yet. No one wants to take risks at this stage.
DeleteIf the UEFA referee committee looks at field performance instead of policy, the final will be for Çakır.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Çakir and his team today. Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent, excellent game. The right manager for this match. Just great.
ReplyDeleteGood game. Clear missed yellow card for Modric's reckless tackle in the air. Other than that he was good. Can't compare such a game with Brych. The players in this one behaved much better.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about the players. It's about the referees themselves. and CROA-ESP was even more challenging.
DeleteYou are incorrect. If the players behave, the referee won't get challenged as much or need to do as much.
DeleteThe players in CRO-SPA were also very challenging and actually engaged in much more aggressive play. Point is Çakir is way better than Brych. Btw, it's not my opinion, it is shown by reality and very clearly.
Deletehahaha, you make it sound as if a referee doesn't have the tools to better guide a match that is starting to go off course. Now if the referee is stubborn (Brych) and refuses to adapt adjust and overcome. Then he (the referee) failed, not the players.
DeleteOMG, why some users misunderstand refereeing so much. If not Cakir's excellent prevention and anticipation, many preventative talks and warnings, this game would be more heated than yesterday. You missed it, ignored it or you are simply Brych's fan? The player behaved wildly yesterday because they were allowed to and encouraged by Brych's ignorant style. It's basic refereeing knowledge...
DeleteBest performance of the tournament.
ReplyDeleteCakir is still cakir.
a great performance and referee / player management with top fitness and foul interpretation ROD NZ
ReplyDeletePossible RC for ESP in 116, because of a violent deliberate kick. I think, he took the better decision, but I would have liked a YC there.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, excellent display by him, surely a candidate for the final.
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThat was the second one I saw from Morata, after one in the second half when he fell on his back and his legs were in the air - neither enough for a RC but he knew what he was doing.
DeleteÇakir absolutely deserves the final. For his current superb form and for what he's already done throughout his career.
ReplyDeleteShould be given immediately the ticket for Wembley.
Mr.Çakır, your were fabulous today!
ReplyDeleteBest performance of the current European season by Cakir. Final is logic and deserved as a reward for such a brilliant job. Football has won.
ReplyDeleteSo, it seems that hair is an obstacle at this tournament. Karasev, Taylor and Cakyr are by far most appreciated on this blog lately. :D
ReplyDeleteLol.
DeleteTo be honest, Turkish Football Federation had a good strategy by hosting referees. It is obviously a move for the final. Boosting this strategy with today's refereeing, I believe Cakir will be 99% at Wembley.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Cakir, best performance of the Euro2020,,he deserve Final or at least SF
ReplyDeleteCakir juz showing UEFA what they have been missing since the sidelined him. Brilliant!
