OT: Does anyone know when FIFA will officially announce the referees, assistants and VAR’s for the 2026 World Cup?
ReplyDeleteWe can't know specifically, and the date is always variable. However, in the case of the 2022 World Cup, which was a very special edition, they were released in May, six months before the tournament. For next year tournament, I think it's possible (though this is just my opinion) that the publication could take place in the early months of 2026. Still, I believe that March international window, with matches that will be highly decisive, could have a big influence. Nevertheless, if FIFA will wait for that, April would seem a bit too late to me, compared to the date of the competition, though I wouldn't rule out this option entirely. On the other hand, I tend to rule out December 2025, that is a month from now, which could have been an option, but in my view, it's too early and there are several uncertain situations, with a selection process that might require longer time due to various factors to consider, compared to the past.
DeleteI would say, in the end, as "prediction", January or February 2026. We can just wiat and see!
