Sajn and Rosetti could either mean younger referees (e.g. Nyberg and Schärer) or CL final candidates (e.g. Oliver and Makkelie).
DeleteExperienced Elite referees (Turpin, Vincic, ...) expected for both legs of the other two CL pairings.
Velasco takes away one of the rare spots for Spanish referees. Maybe observing Pinheiro (if he is not in Paris).
Rizzoli possibly with a younger WC referee like Eskas.
Where do you think Zwayer will show up next? UEFA has played it safe with his last three (hidden) appointments, to lock in his World Cup spot. The WC squad will be announced on April 7, so do they throw Felix Zwayer a big game to prove a point before the WC, or will they stick with Siebert, who’s been delivering and deserves it on merit?
DeleteOnce again, incredible to observe, late appointment for an Italian club, second leg ;) tell me if this is fair if compared to other nations!
Delete@Chefren: maybe they will select a referee who also works in 1st leg UCL
Delete2' Good visible early warning to ARS keeper, making it clear DtR wouldn't be tolerated
ReplyDelete25' Good no penalty from replay shown (not 100% clear). Looks like attacker instigated contact if anthing
~23' Poor offside from AR1, clearly ON
26' 27' Weak fouls on CHE players, normal footballing contact
32' Good visible warning, close to SPA/LoR holding, nothing more needed
38' Fairly clear missed foul on Bronze
47' Very soft, more simulation than foul, no real pull, YC required if foul, but harsh in context
50' 77' Same as 26' 27'
62' YC. An accidental tangle or something more? I'm sure people will read this incident in different ways
65' DtR YC to ARS, enough warnings given, every throw in was taking longer and longer
66' AR2 Good offside
80' VAR disallowing ARS goal for offside. Lines not shown on broadcast, but looked very tight, no real blame on AR2
90' Correctly ensuring a FK wasn't taken a long way infront of the offence. Very good
90+5' A super clear SPA holding, completely missed. That then became a hair holding looking at the replay. Should really be a RC for VC. No foul live was poor, no intervention by VAR also wrong. Then lead to CHE manager complaints, and a YC/2YC for her. I understand her frustrations in that moment, but the reaction required the YCs for dissent
I thought initially that Klarlund was an excellent appointment for this game, and so it has proved. A much more relaxed, and less strict, referee than Pesu, much more suited to the English game. Generally tried to let the game go, a lot of challenges waved away, but not perfect foul detection, some very soft holding whistled, with 47' being simply wrong. Then, a missed RC in 90+5', that shouldn't overshadow the rest of the game, but was a poor moment. Overall, a good game for Klarlund, good fitness and positioning, and the game was always under full control. I feel she deserved more at Euro 25, and should definitely be considered for more in the near future
No idea why VAR hasn't intervened for the hair pull. Also thought the Arsenal offside goal looked onside on the replay they showed and I don't remember them showing the graphic
ReplyDeleteVery short clips.
DeleteOffside: https://streambug.org/cv/30c5cd
Pulling: https://streambug.org/cv/89aadd
Should be offside by left shoulder.
Pulling absolutely to be punished, AR couldn't see it because following the offside, but fourth official?
And there isn't consistency about hair pulling, some referees go for red card while others just ignore it. In this case one can think from VAR room they assessed this one as "not enough" but well, it's clear. Poor imagine of football for sure, the coach had her reasons. She was sent off a few after with another YC. Not the best management by Danish referee.
The ineptitude that Klarlund, Blanco, and Rafalski managed to manufacture in 90+5 is simply INFURIATING!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yet we’re supposed to give the ref team a “pass”? Because overall blah blah blah? Nah, forget that and miss me with that “overall” nonsense. Certain mistakes are mortal mistakes and should be treated as such.
1) Any and all forceful hair pulling is VC. No ifs ands or buts about it. If you disagree, then as a referee or a person you don’t care about player safety. This hair pull was forceful enough to drag the Chelsea player down.
2) The fact that Karlund called no foul at all is simply unacceptable for a supposed “Elite” referee at this level. There is nothing anybody can tell me as to why she didn’t call a foul that would change my mind. I would expect this type of brain fart from a young inexperienced referee with no foul recognition or a referee who is afraid to call anything.
The intent of the Arsenal player was so painfully obvious. Her body language clearly showed that she was going to do whatever to stop the attacking Chelsea player.
It truly irks me when a referee has clearly messed up. Then because of his or her ego goes on and compounds that error by then taking disciplinary action against the team that’s been aggrieved.
In this case, how was Bompastor supposed to react? The incident happened directly in front of her. So I’d expect her to stand up for her players as she did. I’d actually lose respect for her as a coach and person if she didn’t.
Lastly, it’s nonsense like this and the insufferable officiating in the Intercontinental playoff’s that has lead me to believe that sport I grew up loving is long gone. And the referees are willing accomplices.
Referees who understand that the Laws of the Games are to be enforced and that they are not merely suggestions. Have been, are, and will always be better. Change my mind.
