Not that much of a high profile game for Taylor.
ReplyDeletefirst foul was by uzbekistan player on the YC situation no ?
ReplyDeleteFirst YC: Taylor gave it for SPA because the Colombian player threw himself on the opponent making him fall down, but one can argue that it was possible to whistle foul against UZB before... not a clean situation, but once you let game flow, then you have to give free kick to attacker.
ReplyDeleteThe great and iconic Ravshan Irmatov at the stadium!
ReplyDeleteCorrect YC, clear SPA, hope the cameraman is ok.
ReplyDeleteTwo correct YCs so far
ReplyDeleteGood call by AR2
ReplyDeleteSecond YC was mandatory as well, while now, 45'+1, he could have booked again but he didn't. Clear howw the English referee thinks to book only for very evident situations.
ReplyDeleteNo comments for the whole second half tells the story. Good job by Taylor
ReplyDelete+1 indeed

I hardly follow the World Cup, but a German magazine named Ramon Abatti the best referee of the first group stage day. Why is he only second to last in your ranking?
DeleteWithout knowing the performances of all the referees, I’m more critical of Wilton Sampaio. Not because of the three red cards shown in the opening match, but because of his VAR announcement. We know South Americans are generally reluctant at speaking English. But this referee already has World Cup experience and has participated in numerous FIFA tournaments. I just don’t understand why FIFA didn’t make sure the candidates have a sufficiently good command of English. I'm not talking about negotiating contracts, but being able to clearly communicate the limited vocabulary needed for VAR announcements. I also find it disappointing that Wilton Sampaio didn’t set that standard for himself. That’s how he became a media joke character that no one takes seriously.
Good refereeing by Taylor
ReplyDeleteAfter the first round, what I suspected continues to happen. This is a blog for European national fan groups, where the referee's nationality is judged, not the technical criteria of performance. The same type of play is weighed differently, even by the group within the organization. Years go by and they don't learn; someone unbiased needs to come here to try and give some reason to this madhouse.
2010 - old English fat friends Webbetties
2014 - the sausage-eating companions Brychtties
2018 and 2022 - the stroopwafel makers Kuipersettes/Makkeliettes
2026 - it seems the French wave, after sleeping for a long time, made some noise with Turpin at the last one, but arrived with force with the Lexetierttes
Anyway, I've faced them all, and changing the outfit – one wears suspenders and others a beret – it's always the same thing: trolls who have never even seen an official whistle, and even experienced people talking nonsense, or having an orgasm every time Collina's image appears. In my opinion, it's worse when he's in his carpeted room, because there, taking notes, he acts with more technical rigor than when he's in a stadium being bothered by several people around him. I won't even comment on Bussaca, because for me he's always been a mediocre referee, and we know he occupies his Swiss place in FIFA.
Thank you for the support @Tevinjm. I say the same to you, keep saying what you think, be technical in your comments, even if it displeases Fun Fic here.
