  1. So,we expect small amount of cards cause he does not want the spotlight once again?

  2. We have to laugh @M and @Law18

The one thing we can say, as @Chefren has stated, Sampaio hoping for a calmer game and this is definitely a very different feeling to his first game or even the ARGvAUT match

  3. So far fouls are Norway 4 and Senegal 1. That puts the over/under at 11.5

  4. Does anyone feel here that Sampaio was given an easier game to manage than his first? A very important match in the group with essentially the winner will guarantee the second spot but definitely two teams who lack the aggression.

Easy game to manage, not watching closely but seems to have let the game flow, not getting many decisions wrong, no challenges that require disciplinary action or player management and no real KMI to speak of to this point.

  5. Sampaio could not have dreamed of a more straightforward first half. Very football-focused game. Nonetheless, he still showed good positioning and the impressive athleticism, as usual.

    1. Agree, you can get a calm fixture but still must technically get your positioning, decisions, management, teamwork areas to focus on.

  6. Yep,but 2nd half could change cause Senegalese are in danger with of being out with 2 defeats so maybe they will start being more and more frustrated.

    1. This is danger zone now for Senegal, goal difference also an issue for them. The question is do they get more desperate with their challenges or do they stretch the game leaving them open at the back to counter attack? I still can’t see the warfare type of games we have seen some of games have descended into with either team.

  7. Missed penalty for sure, arm to the face in penalty box.

    Imo var is needed.

    1. This tournament? It will be supported as a non-penalty and a non var intervention

  9. The arm is really extended for me, PK should have been call imo

    1. It hit the attacker’s own hand.

    2. i think the only reason is that the hand is really close from the ball when the attacker kicked it

    3. Really? I need to check briefly again.

  13. Not impressed with his movement. Rarely outside of the central 25 yards, even when needed.

  14. Shaky refereeing all over. No charisma and shaky desicions

    1. And once again way too much use of his whistle

  15. He managed to finish the game without a single YC. Remarkable.

  16. Not a good game imo, PK missed for Senegal which at the end with this result is a big mistake.
Fouls detection was ok, no cards as well compare to his 1st game, chaotic management at the end of the game, with a poor style imo.
Don't know what's the future in this tournament for him, i think i will get at least 1 more game.

  17. Sampaio got the kind of match he only could have wished for after opening game. Pretty much uneventful from refereeing standpoint, although interesting in every other aspect.

  18. It's so funny to me that Wilton Sampaio still gets games at a tournament like this. He completely bottled the quarterfinal between England and France 4 years ago. Then he gave at least 2 out of 3 very disputable red cards in the opener and now he is missing penalties here and there in this match. He is just not a very good referee, but he will probably be a candidate for more, due to politics.

  19. I do not like his refereeing style.
He uses the whistle excessively and lacks the courage to call fouls inside the penalty area.
He missed a clear penalty for the Senegal national team, which affected the outcome of the match.
After this game, his performance should be rejected.
