Žalgiris - Brann Pavle Ilic (Srb)
ReplyDelete3 teams of English officials appointed. Led by Jarred Gillett, Robert Jones and Samuel Barrott.
ReplyDeleteLothar D’Hondt is back, he has to start again.
ReplyDeleteWishing the best.
Marcenaro Conference League debut: deserved.
Excellent start of the season with Orsato, he seems another referee now, if compared to what he was with Rocchi.
Once again, it's confirmed that the current form is a crucial element for the Italian assignments in UEFA. Maybe even more than other countries, for what I could observe.
And what we can consider as one of the potentially biggest games in this phase of competition, involving an Italian team and Ajax, goes to Nobre,
DeleteInteresting choice
DeleteWhat to make of Lambrechts acting as AVAR?
ReplyDeleteI think he's injured, so they put an experienced referee like him to support Lothar.
DeleteI'm glad Lothar is back. It was an unfortunate moment for him. I think he'll be more confident now. We are human and we all make mistakes. Good luck to him.
ReplyDeleteImportant observer for Sam Barrott …. Promotion to 1st group on the radar?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same
DeleteHope he passes the test. IMO outside Oliver he is the English referee with the highest potential level in time.
DeleteAn English invasion of Europe this week!
ReplyDeleteBusy week for Jones. Sunday with Brighton palace. Tuesday 4th offical in Paris. Thursday refereeing. Sunday with hull v Brentford.
ReplyDeleteCorrect PK by Visser in Trabzon.
ReplyDeleteI think the matches today will be really interesting for the English the no 4 spot seems to be up for grabs. I would have previously said Jones was the most likely but after barrott doing the youth league last season and gillett getting a few good appointments it's kind of anyone's game
ReplyDeleteI think barrott and gillett will be preferred either way it can only be seen as a positive that there are 5 English officials as the main referee not long ago you would have had maybe 3 being taylor Oliver and either pawson or kavanagh
Not convinced by the PK given by Gillett in Thun - Hajduk, even if IMO VAR was correct to stay silent.
ReplyDeleteCrvena Zvezda vs. Copenhagen (Petrescu / Hațegan)
ReplyDelete38' YC for SPA (vs. DOGSO)
https://streama.in/MTkbPG8gvxrLm2c/watch
40' YC for reckless (vs. SFP); YC shown after VAR input?
https://streama.in/FM0it4R01Cz83mS/watch
90+3' RC for DOGSO
https://streama.in/jVsbrTRo6lowxJN/watch
38': YC is full OK once whistled, RC would have been supported by VAR, but less "immediate" decision, player must control ball then the distance from the goal seem to be enough arguments in order to assess the DOGSO as not clear one.
Delete40': Very short whistle to detect the foul, sure that YC was not Petrescu original assessment. But why not from fourth official?
90'+3: I see that the tone of the whistle remains the same even in case of red card. For me not sure in this case, supportable decision, it's OK by VAR to stay silent, but maybe better YC for SPA? Ball seems rather far away, even if I try to stop at the moment of the foul, then there are the oter defenders close.
Jablonec - Brighton & Hove Albion (Kringstad / Hagenes)
ReplyDelete69' YC for reckless (vs. SFP/VC)
https://streama.in/4GDJ8WffpbcvqP5/watch
77' YC for LoR holding after advantage (rarely given)
https://streama.in/c8AgGQAf8wj4WmB/watch
69' You can leave a small doubt, but for me this was made on purpose and RC for VC should have been issued, however, I understand VAR point of view, maybe with a different decision (no decision by referee), VAR would have been more allowed to intervene.
Delete77' Evident and continuative action, one can agree with referee. The opponent resisted, but the LoR remained. Howevr, as you said, not all referees think in this way.
Pafos - Riga (Barbu / Costreie)
ReplyDelete06' Goal disallowed for offside after VAR intervention (AR1)
https://streama.in/ss8i3qjT8w5Hx98/watch
12' Goal disallowed for foul on GK after OFR
https://streama.in/IuEI7wgsyUOqmFZ/watch
6' An offside that should have been seen by AR.
Delete12' Reading the body language of the Romanian referee, he struggled to see what had happened, making some head movements, but very likely having an obstructed view. It's a fully correct VAR intervention because even a missed incident.
Also, it should be the classic YC to attacker here fior a late challenge on keeper.
Nordsjælland - CSKA Sofia (Jones)
ReplyDelete59', 76' 2YC to Janssen (NOR)
https://streama.in/X4L97iVKh23WH5N/watch
First one: good YC for reckless, mandatory for me, after advantage.
DeleteSecond very clear as well, following a mistake after having lost ball.
Iberia Tbilisi - Mjällby (D'Hondt / Verboomen)
ReplyDelete19' FK decision (foul outside vs. inside the penalty area)
https://streama.in/IHKsB2SFDlWfz5h/watch
53' Penalty awarded for tripping
https://streama.in/QCVOn7HjxRp1xHY/watch
89' Goal allowed - potential foul (dangerous play) on GK
https://streama.in/lv6ery68s9JqQ2Y/watch
19' These are situations in which you can't judge that much a referee's decision, however for me it looks like outside even if both players looked to be inside the box. Excellent spot in case, VAR surely checked.
Delete53' Very clear penalty for me. Defender with a reckless action.
89' OK decision to allow the goal.
Kauno Žalgiris - Brann (Ilić / Marković)
ReplyDelete03' Penalty awarded for handball after OFR
https://streama.in/KJwD8y0hnVn6T1r/watch
66', 67' Leniency towards Kauno Žalgiris' frustration tactical offences leading to YC for dissent to Brann's player
https://streama.in/nMTmv5K1septEMV/watch
3' Another classic incident in which one can't blame referee, we lost the count of how many OFR for similar situations in penalty area, one must admit it's impossible for the human eye. Especially this one, immediately after a header, very good VAR intervention.
Delete66' - 67': First foul in the clip should have been YC to home player. The referee should have read better the moment of the game.
Trabzonspor - Hearts (Visser / Boterberg)
ReplyDelete14' PAI handball and IDFK for (missed) offside awarded after VAR intervention
https://streama.in/YlJCek9s1ez47FE/watch
30' Penalty awarded for tripping
https://streama.in/VdRL1TDOWQxuiTx/watch
Sorry the first clip is a nightmare for AR2.
DeleteMissed both the offside and the penalty to be reported to referee after that. Correct intervention for highlighting offside before penalty. About the offside mistake, it's very clear what happened, AR thinking about all the rest, but removing from his mind the player who had kicked the corner, so for him the player appeared there "out of blue". In such situations, assistant referees, in addition to the normal assessment of all the other players, following a set piece, must keep an additional memory about the kicker, when he returs back in play. But then, as said, he should have seen the handball! Frontal incident for him.
30' Correct decision by referee, with a clear trip by defender here.
Is VAR-only intervention okay or should it have been an OFR due to missed penalty?
DeleteThun - Hajduk Split (Gillett / Bankes)
ReplyDelete67' Penalty awarded
https://streama.in/KllG3Yfl7blIMOW/watch
68' Potential encroachment of the defending player who clears the ball after the save
https://streama.in/V6TK26YFJRcX7HS/watch
Not a penalty for me, way too soft.
DeleteIn the end the final contact with knee by defender, but this can be assessed as normal one in football for me.
VAR has to support, however not an inspiring call.
Then, the execution is not regular with players from both teams entering penalty area before, but that's nothing new.
Should the fact that the player who cleared the ball after the goalkeeper's save was airborne inside the penalty arc matter, and therefore should the penalty have been retaken?
DeleteAnything to report from Amsterdam?
ReplyDeleteYes, I watched that match. It was a sporting contest that didn't pose much of a challenge. All the cards were deserved, and Nobre made a good impression. The most significant decision was the call not to award a penalty around the 60th minute—the defender got a slight touch on the ball, which Nobre correctly pointed out—as well as the decision not to penalize a foul in the duel between Tolu and the Atalanta defender leading up to the 1-0 goal.
DeleteAlso noteworthy is that on two occasions, Nobre ignored an offside signal from an assistant referee—who had already applied a 'delayed' flag—by extending that delay even further.
DeletePenalty area incident in Ajax - Atalanta:
ReplyDeletehttps://streamin.link/v/1aec0ddb
Clear penalty to me, even live from the stadion. Not a bad performance overall by Nobre, a bit unsafe with linesman
DeleteI see more the attacker dragging his feet on the ground to somehow promote the contact… the slight touch on the ball and the natural slight contact between the two players make the decision expectable. To give a penalty in this incident would have been very very soft or even wrong.
DeleteClear penalty!
DeleteThe defensor never touched the ball.
Ajax 18 touch the ball before any contact between the 2 players. Correct decision. No Penalty kick
