  1. Obviously very good appointments for Sidiropoulos and Lardot with committe members. The Greek has the chance to show that he still should be considered for further progress and remain a candidate for the EURO. And Belgium needs a new number 1 referee in First Group...
Normal appointments for the rest, I think. Maybe Vincic could have expected a bit more. Kruashvili increases the number of countries with a referee in the competition (this happened also in the WC qualifiers, where he got a match on the last MD as well).

  2. IMO, Sidiropoulos match could and should be better. There is England of course but in case of a Spanish win tomorrow, England will only need a point to avoid relegation. I think that the Greek hasn't convinced the committee about his Elite status. So, most of his appointments this season are on easy matches. Also weird appointment of AAR2. He has another match on 15/11 (again as AAR). Great management from the ref. committee........

Vincic should have a better appointment if he considered for a promotion.

I like seeing the name of Kruashvili. He impressed me the last time I saw him and I would like to see him in 2nd group.

The rest appointments are normal. Orsato with the big one of the day.

    1. If we start from EL play off game Copenhagen - Atalanta with a committee member observing him, I think that Sidiropoulos has convinced so far in these three months the committee about keeping his status as Elite referee. Now his appointments can mean that committee is trying to understand whether they can get even more from him... if we compare his appointments of last season to the ones of this first part of 2018-19, we can say that he has managed to be a quite reliable name. Very curious to know his third appointment in Champions League.

  6. Solid first half by the Greek team at Wembley. One wrong offside call by AR1 though, might have been a good ENG chance. Also, Sidiropoulos either missed or misjudged a frontal tackle by Jedvaj. I believe he gave advantage, looked like a mandatory YC to me.

  7. Howard . AR1 missed after the wrong offside call (no offside), a few minutes later anoher clear offside this time... 2 mistakes in first 7 minutes in the game

  8. Wrong YC from Sidiropoulos, mistaken identity.

    1. Wasn't it Jedvaj who made the very first foul (holding)? Maybe he punished that?

      Delete
    2. Could be, but I don't remember the full play, sorry.

      Delete
    3. He was. He issued 2 YC's on that scene to N11 and 16. The first one was for dissent by action (hit the ball to the ground with force in order to protest).

    4. In that case, I'd say it was a good performance from him, that was the only "strange" thing in 2nd half. I hope he will get good matches in UCL and/or UEL KO stages.

  9. Good/expected level by Sidiropoulos on a normal difficulty match. No crucial decisions, full control and good foul detection.

    Some observations.

5' Wrong offside call against ENG from AR1.
25' Good YC to N7 ENG for SPA.
27' Only warning to CRO defender after a foul on the midfield. Not enough IMO. Should issue a caution.
35' ENG attacker is being fouled very close to the penalty area. Tackle is reckless. Referee plays an advantage. He should give the free-kick.
62' Good soft skills. Small talk with Kramaric.
67' 2 YC's on the same scene. N11 CRO for dissent and N16 for holding/SPA.
70' Foul to an ENG defender inside his own penalty area. Referee gives an advantage and brings back play when ball is on the midfield. He should whistle the foul immediately. No real advantage.
89' Good intervention by AR2 to calm things down after a foul in front of him.

    1. Lovren clearly made gestures and had offensive language against him several times but he ignored it.

      Delete
    2. He booked him for dissent in 89'.

      Delete
    3. And the gestures and ”fu** off” language came after the card was shown.

      Delete
    4. And "fu** off" is something players are saying every two minutes in English Premier League :))

    5. Yeah and why would take be okay? And this wasn’t the premier league

    1. both feets not over the line, good decision imo

    2. I agree with xristos, I don’t see the problem here.

      The procedure:
“At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline”

      Delete
    3. Both feet on the line. Zero problem. The news site clearly has not read law 15.

      Delete
    4. I love it when players say "ref, his foot/feet is/are on the line" when a throw in is being taken. And then I calmly reply, "so?!?!".

  11. Find below some clips from the Northern Ireland vs. Austria match handled by Jonathan Lardot. To be honest, not the best performance of this weekend, especially regarding disciplinary management.

    1. I haven't seen the game, but based on these clips, at least 3 YC missed - and while I understand if you don't give everyone of them, I find those given aren't the ones that were the most mandatory. And the management of thise final scene was far from good. He seemed out of his depth.

      Delete
    2. Hopefully the next performance by Lardot will be better.
Nothing to add, insufficient disciplinary control with crystal clear missed YC (especially 38' and 45').

      Delete
    3. 18' is a clear YC imo.
Also, the management in the 2 YCs situation is bad too. Having both blayers with you and after that, start consulting your AR.
Call them over and show them yellow, or or don't, but don't start communicating afterwards.
Also, blatant holding. I can imagine a 2nd YC there, but at least it should be whistled. Based on this, around a 7,7.

  13. Easy going first half for Orsato in Switzerland-Belgium. Only YC for SPA fully correct. Maybe strange to whistle without added time for halftime at 44:58 when there were 5 goals in one half. Let‘s see what 2nd half brings

    1. I forgot to write about the penalty given for the Swiss. IMO correct decision, at least supportable. Has anyone also seen the incident to give his opinion?

    2. Correct pk. According to UEFA page, it was Courtois' contact on Mbabu, but for me it was Chadli who hit him from behind. Either way, correct call, no protests.

  16. Away from internationals - Willie Collum with an easy RC in Scotland's second tier, though surely the player who kicked out first should've been sent off as well!

  17. Highlights of Andrew Dallas' performance in Austria v Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    https://ok.ru/video/1046915648108

26' and 69' - again problems with Scottish assistant referees; while the first mistake is understandable, the second one...

    32' - collision with AR1

38' - throw-in seems to be executed many meters away from the place where the ball crossed the line, no reaction

    41' - very good management

52' - handling incident in the penalty area

88' - great opportunity to play an advantage missed what leads to strong dissents

90+1' - possible foul and 2nd YC to #6 BIH missed

Overall, it was a satisfactory performance but some points for improvement were clearly visible. I saw a young, brave referee who has a good rapport with players even when some decisions are not expected by them (to say it kindly). He doesn't look for troubles by approaching very angry players (or coaches). In this game he provoked some not the best reactions by making not the optimal decisions, especially in the dying stages... His positioning was good in most cases, very elastic in that matter. Good mentoring and Andrew Dallas can go high.
