Normal, expectable appointment for Mateu.
ReplyDeleteGood match for Marciniak after not so great GS matches. And the observer confirms, that the is in the race for a final.
Wednesday fixtures?
ReplyDeleteTomorrow!
DeleteCongratulations to everybody for returning UCL and UEL!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck for every refereeing team! Show your best and get your ticket for UEFA EURO 2020!!!
P.S. from Round of 16 UEL appointments will appear on Tuesday?
Yes in recent years EL appointments for KO stage, unless the final, have been published always on Tuesday.
DeleteGood match for Marciniak, and Rosetti is observer, nice
ReplyDeleteGood or Bad performence by Luís Godinho in VSC Guimarães-FC Porto in Marega racism case !?
ReplyDeletehttps://www.abola.pt/nnh/2020-02-16/fc-porto-luis-godinho-informou-delegados-sobre-os-insultos-a-marega/829703
DeleteIs this a joke?? Scandalous performance by Godinho. Once again it is clear that racism is a major problem. And that you do not have to expect protection from your teammates or unfortunately the referee
DeleteGood performance by the referee.
DeleteChefren do you think uefa will use var in this coming up Uel appointment
ReplyDeleteYes, VAR has been confirmed for Europa League KO stage this season.
DeleteCan anyone please share the link to the file documenting all VAR decisions and reviews in the Premier League? The link has been posted in the comments a few times before but I cannot seem to find it again.
ReplyDeleteCorrect onside for Atletico by AR2. VAR confirmed.
ReplyDeleteYes, but wasn't the throw-in immediately prior to the corner kick 100% wrong? AR2 wanted to give the throw to Liverpool but Marciniak appeared to overrule. That throw-in led to the corner kick that the goal was scored on.
Deleteyes, I confirm.
DeleteGood first half for Marciniak. Correct yellow card for Mane and for Correa. Very good decision in 45 minutes - Mane's foul wasn't reckless. Strong and excellent body language like always. Good luck in second half!
ReplyDeleteAtlético players use to put a lot of pressure on referees...
ReplyDeleteCorrect onside by AR1 in Dortmund before goal with 1-0 for Dortmund. VAR confirmed.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by Mateu Lahoz today. Perfect feeling for the game, his unique style of refereeing fitted amazingly. Cards were issued at the right time and he knew when to leave it with a verbal warning. If no Spanish team goes for the final he‘s my absolute favorite for CL Final!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Very well Mateu today
DeleteAfter the game in Madrid, Marciniak is for me number one in the race for the final.
ReplyDeleteHow poor Is the standard of European refereeing if he is number one for the Final? Yet again, he was horrendous!
DeleteSeems like a good night so far for both referees :)
ReplyDeleteA very good start for CL KO stage. Well done. We will see tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteS. MARCINIAK
ReplyDelete04. - 1-0; correct
23. - no deliberate handball in the PA; correct play-on
41. - YC Liverpool #10; reckless use of arm; correct
45. - YC Atlético #10; unsporting behaviour; correct
45. - negligible holding and too easy fall in the PA; correct play-on
45. - no 2nd YC Liverpool #10; more careless than reckless use of arm; correct; dealt with mobbing phenomenally
59. - YC Liverpool #12; reckless?; too harsh
65. - okay no YC for accidental kick
81. - missed mandatory YC Liverpool #3; reckless stamp
83. - missed foul & mandatory YC Atlético # ; SPA (Klopp furious x1)
88. - missed handling of Atlético's player; Klopp booked for dissent; should be avoided by making correct decision
8.2/3
Here is the potential Second Yellow Card (elbow) incident from +46':

Thanks for your comment. I agree with your assessments, if I add some reflections:
+46' Very borderline situation! I prefer evaluating that elbow as careless though, and then simply brilliant how quickly he recognised and then acted against the more passive dissent (mobbing).
59' Impact was not much but considering there was zero chance to play the ball fairly, I quite like the caution in this situation.
88' Stupid advantage, much better to whistle the fully deliberate handling: YC for SPA/LoR and freekick in a good position vs. team ball not real advantage. (LIV coach made a further, really blatant, dissent in additional time of 2H...).
This game might not have looked very challenging, but I think Marciniak presented very good refereeing to keep control of this game - shame that he made some mistakes (inc. as @usaref pointed out).
Marciniak's diligent style with brilliant feeling for the overview of his games (disciplinary control, presence) is ideal for this era of UEFA refereeing!
Maybe I am being a 'cheeky' but will you watch Dortmund - Paris game too?
DeleteIn case I will cut clips from your notes :)
Can someone explaim how was Haalang allowed to play for Dortmund when he played Salzburg in the same season?
ReplyDeleteUEFA has changed the rules before this season.
DeleteI like Lahoz a lot, you can see him refereeing with all is heart and a lot of passion. But from my point of view meanwhile his refereeing focus to much on talking and touching players all the time. Don't get me wrong: If you are an elite UEFA referee you have your own style but then you also need to have an outstanding "decision quality" and lahoz decision quality is not that high as i expect it for CL KO stage. Yesterday nobody talked about him but this was defenetly not a 10/10 performance and somehow he looks unauthentic
ReplyDeletein his behavior on the pitch.
A. M. MATEU LAHOZ
ReplyDelete18., 19. - careless-reckless fouls of Dortmund #27 and Paris #27; no cards ok
24. - good advantage
25. - another late foul of Dortmund #27; missed optimal moment to open the cards
33. - missed mandatory YC Paris #10; unsporting behaviour - kick; low force makes it a YC - correct no VAR intervention
44. - YC Dortmund #28; SPA; was it a foul or fair challenge? and even if: was the YC needed / smart after previous incidents?
44. - careless-reckless use of arm Dortmund #12; no card ok
54. - YC Paris #27; SPA/reckless; correct
59. - YC Paris #10; unsporting behaviour - strike; disciplinary decision (YC-RC) up to referee's interpretation; correct no VAR intervention
69. - 1-0; correct
75. - 1-1; correct
77. - 2-1; correct
84. - late but careless foul and unnecessary advantage -> Favre warned
87. - YC Paris #12; SPA/holding; correct
89. - YC Paris #6; dissent/mobbing; correct; good strong reaction in this phase
90. - no SPA but careless-reckless trip Paris #5; no card ok
8.3
After yesterday performance I think Mateu Lahoz stays as very strong candidate for CL final. As always, the big problem for him is represented by Spanish teams. But this time I would give him at least Europa League final if possible, he has shown to deserve that.
ReplyDeleteAbout Marciniak, good game under Rosetti's eyes. Finally a positive performance without troubles. For sure he will get further CL games in this KO stage, but at moment I would still wait before thinking about something more. His previous performances were too poor in recent times.
The most important thing about yesterday, games were handled without any need of VAR and this is what Rosetti wants to see. Forget about the technology, officiating the game as it was before also taking crucial decisions. One could say the game in Madrid was maybe not so difficult as expected, but we know that it is very easy to have troubles so the good performance must be absolutely praised.
Having seen him live (in the stadium) for the first time, I have to mention something about Mateu, which probably is only a minor point in a referee evaluation, but was quite annoying to me yesterday:
ReplyDeleteHe never makes any signals at free kicks.
Several times the whistle could not be heard in the upper ranks, so the spectators could only notice a free kick, because of players' reactions or Mateu marking the spot with his spray (which he did quite quickly after the whistle).
IMO, it would be better to sell the decision to the audience by pointing into the direction of the free kick (as specified in the LotG) or at least pointing to the spot of the infrigement.
Could also very well be something, that other referees do, but maybe is less noticeable on the TV.
