Looks like the most interesting set of appointments so far, with some referees followed by committee and rather important observers in many of those games.
ReplyDeleteand Botev-Panathinaikos wil be a "hot" one, for sure
DeleteApart from Bilbija and Kardasler, which refs do you mean? Thanks for the answer
DeleteManoúchos with De Bleeckere, Branco Godinho with Deaconu. The Romanian observer, maybe not so much known like others, seems to have a quite good reputation, observing very often young and promising referees. Then, to add I would also mention Schlager with Pedersen, but in this case less important than others. Brooks continues to follow his path with the Macedonian observer who regularly watches Elite referees.
DeleteDo you expect a development plan for the ones observed by Fandel and De Bleckeere or it's a just a case ?
ReplyDeleteThere was a replacement in Rapid-Wisła. Michael Oliver is a new referee.

3' Poor teamwork with AR1, AR1 called throw in for Ruz and ref after few secs blowed whistle for foul. IMO AR1 was right.
31' Good delayed whistle and advantage given to Tra
34' Good preventive action before corner kick
36' YC given to Tra 61 for reckless tackle, but I'm not sure if it was correct due poor quality of replay/not ideal angle, looked like simulation for me
51' Penalty appeal for potential push in Tra penalty area, good no foul IMO
Delete58' Penalty appeal for potential handball in Tra penalty area, good no call IMO
Since 85' Tra 9 played with shirt torn on belly, no reaction from the crew
Dear Slovakian mistake hunter, enjoy... It was very good refereeing.
DeleteSorry DrMr, you can't say he is a mistake hunter, he writes such reports for all games involving Slovakian teams, it's clear he does that with passion and nothing more. You commented about this game, but he reported also about many others :)
DeleteIt's so disrespectful to call MH_svk a mistake hunter. A user who contributes to the blog with many excellent notes is attacked by DrMr who is able to write only 'it was very good refereeing'. Pathetic.

There was a particulary interesting incident, the very last highligh in this video, starting at 10:30, I hope it works.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LFkvhUhW3I
The referee saw the foul made by the goalkeeper even if the camera doesn’t show exactly the moment when he raised the arm for advantage, he only appear latter in the view. The adavatage did not materialize in goal and, when the game stopped, the goalkeeper was cautioned with YC. If we look at replays I think we can agree that the contact was inside the box and therefore a penalty should have been awarded – stop the video at 11:09. Even by the VAR when the game stopped. Maybe Amland thought that the contact was outside the box and he let advantage instead of giving a free kick? Regardless, RC for DOGSO is out of discussion here, the attacking player was not running to the goal and furthermore there was a defender nearby anyway. I think that the referee did not realise that the contact was inside the box, because the advantage let was not so clear in order to be better than a penalty kick. And this is also a mistake by the VAR. My guess is that he would have whistles a penalty if he believed the contract was inside.
Yes, there is always some uncertainty regarding VAR and advantage. Is a wrong advantage a mistake, that VAR should correct? Does it need to be clearly and obviously wrong?
DeleteHere in case of the foul being inside (which indeed looks like it), the advantage is doubtful, but not clearly wrong IMO. There is still a pretty good GSO for the other attacker - but probably not better than a penalty.
So the question is, whether VAR should intervene here, if the referee thought, the foul was outside. Probably yes, because it is kind of a missed incident there, and the referee should get the chance to assess in an OFR, whether he also would give the advantage over the penalty.
For the same reason, I also don't think, it's DOGSO as the chance for the second attacker is similar to the chance, which the first attacker would have had without the foul.
Lastly, it is also not a clear foul IMO, because the attacker seems to go down before the contact.
Should be as you said, if foul assessed outside the box, the advantage given was the very convenient solution for attcking team, a big chance to score, and then the referee booked fhte keeper for the attempt of DOGSO with YC. The "smart" and modern refereeing by UEFA wants that in such situations the referee waits before making any signal, then if the advantage doesn't result in a goal, the foul is sanctioned. This would have also allowed VAR to intervene. About the VAR intevention, if the referee wrongly assessed the contact outside the box, the situation is complicated, there aren't clear guidlines in that regards, because rare to happen. Furthermore, let's remember in case of punished foul inside the box, the card for DOGSO for keeper would have been a yellow one as well because genuine attempt to play ball.
DeleteAnd yes, also agree with Philipp about the fact that foul is not 100% clear, something you can whistle without the contary evidence, but attacker makes the most before and then there is maybe a contact with keeper, who is anyway late and doesn't play ball. Particular situation. Maybe another argument for VAR to stay silent.
