Indeed, I wonder why? It was so obvious that Brych will get his 5th game and the 3rd in a row in KO. He really deserves so mich games. I'm ironic, of course.
Today's article by Deniz ÇOBAN, one of Turkey's most important referee commentators:
A black tournament for refereeing
UEFA Referee Committee President Roberto Rosetti sent Lahoz and Turpin, the referees of the last Champions League and Europa League finals, from the tournament after the group matches because they 'performed unsuccessfully'. On the other hand, Felix Brych, who showed the worst performance of the tournament with the Belgium-Portugal match, became the referee of the tournament with the most matches and will also manage Italy-Spain. Danny Makkelie, who offside whistled the ball from the corner, was crowned; He will perform in England-Denmark. A thornless rose garden was prepared for Björn Kuipers to lead the final for his 'last tournament.
Clear political appointments
In this tournament, it was very clear that political issues affect the appointments. This tournament has been a tournament where the Referee Committee lost all credibility. The ignoring of Cuneyt Cakir, Taylor, Karasev, Hategan and Orsato for 3 referees and 2 countries has been a dark tournament for 2021 European refereeing.
Rosetti should explain Cakir
According to international authorities, it is unacceptable that Cakir, the most successful referee of the tournament by far, could not go beyond the Round of 16. Our pride Cakir managed the inside of the field very well, but he could not manage the games outside the field. Talking about transparency, Rossetti should explain why he sent Cakir, who he invited to England from Istanbul on Thursday, to Istanbul again on Sunday.
I can´t wait for tonight. We can finally start to talk about actual match situations again and talk about actual football. I have to say, I am quite done with all these exaggerations.
Yes, Cuneyt Cakir deserved another appointment, while Felix Brych is quite overused. Had Cakir been appointed for either QF ENGUKR or one of the semi´s problem would have been solved.
If you ask me it would have been best to give Cakir ENGDEN and Makkelie ITASPA. That´s it, that´s all. One appointment. Nothing wrong with appointing well trusted and well performing referees to the big matches. Yes, it makes predicting referees a bit boring and yes, that is a sad thing for everyone on this blog. But please can we stop making refereeing more important than it actually is and start watching games.
I very much hope the three remaining games will be refereed on the same consistent high level as the rest of the tournament. Good luck watching it!
It is really remarkable that many people still think that in the opening match Makkelie made a misstake with giving offside with a cornerkick. In fact there is a situation that a player deliberatly steps outside the playing field to enter after the bal has been played. That is a foul; indirect free kick. No off-side.
Can you imagine that attackers step behind the line to enter the playing field, after the corner kick has been taken? Why is that so difficult to understand?
It is not remarkable because of two reasons: a) AR1 signaled "offside" not "foul". b) Even if it was right, the player reentering the pitch without permission must be given a YC which was not the case. And no, you cannot say it was "senseful" to not give it. It would be a mandatory YC like taking off the jersey. So, even in case of foul whistled, the decision would have been completely wrong.
That was not the call. If so, the AR wouldn't have made the clear offside flag signal with his right hand, rather, he would've made a foul signal with flag in his left hand.
They made a mistake, simple as that. They had a brain freeze. There isn't a grandiose explanation deep in the fine print of the LOTG.
Well, hardly something will change after the final! ;)
ReplyDeleteChefren, would like to ask you, is Rapallini still in London or he goes back to Argentina, and if he goes, do you have any source. Thanks in advance.
DeleteThere aren't official sources, but it is reported that he has left the group.
DeleteMaybe we can distribute 20 points for the correct FO and 20 points for correct AVAR2 and AVAR3... ;-)
DeleteWow, second place! :o
ReplyDeleteNobody guess referee of the İtaly Spain match, why is that :)

I would like to ask, after solid performance at Man City Psg, does Uefa review communication of Kuipers, and does they investigate that incident.
