I said one hoor ago in the other cl on tuesday.
ReplyDeleteRosetti goes further give italian this type of matches.
Its a a shame!
Mariani and Guida.
No neutrality at all.
Its a mess
Well... Vinčič is treated differently. At EURO, after very weak performance in ESPITA, directly appointed to a semi-final. Now, after weak GERNED in UNL, appointed to the biggest clash on the following UCL matchday. Rosetti said last season that only the quality of performances matters? Heh...
ReplyDeleteThey have removed VAR from duties and they think that's enough but first responsibilities for the missed red card belong to main referee. However, it's really incredible to observe the path of Vincic, one shouldn't have enough words to comment it.
DeleteThey throw his VAR under the bus though.
DeleteIncredible management of Vinčić after a shielded 23/24 season with no decisive appointments in big games, a Champions League final (even UEFAs official Twitter channel cheering him 📣), two early appointments at the EURO followed by the most football-friendly semi (should have been the other semi-final to protect Zwayer), Vinčić is now officially “settled” as one of the top referees, with his well-known style of not taking any big decisions in big games to avoid being the talk of the town after games. And while both Germany and Netherlands didn’t complain about him, he’s undermining the LOTG and uniformity. I miss Marciniak.
As I explained in the other thread, the reason for removing Kajtazovic is his domestic suspension from all duties, while even suspicions of match fixing have been all over sports media in Slovenia.
DeleteThis is simply ridicolous.
DeleteYea you are right,
ReplyDeleteBut that includes also that the two Italian not referee in CL.
It is so calculated and he goes further with this selection.
He is setting high on the Mountain with no one critisism his choices in the board.
Marciniak is still absent; does anybody know why ? I guess he should now have passed the fitness test, because since almost two months have been lats since the summer gather. I didn't follow all Vincic's match, but on the paper it seems that he always get the best, the most sonorous and most rewarded match.......... Not a bad treatment :-) while Makkelie seems penalized, his match is really out of focus, let's hope that he is under preservation for the final big match
ReplyDeleteChefren said it earlier this year. The road to the final was for Vincic the same as Makkelie at this moment.
DeleteStay away from controverses and big faults.
I think chefren has right when you see the appointments of Vincic after CL final
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI think, RB Salzburg will face Dinamo Zagreb instead of Dynamo Kyiv. ;-)
ReplyDeletePeter, I made a crucial mistake. Will you forgive me?
DeleteVincic getting now top game after top game, quite clear that appointments for this set of CL games were made before Nations League games. So this explains why you have Vincic but not his VAR (now the fact that he was originally appointed as AVAR in Real - Borussia but then replaced, can be confirmed). For committee is enough to confirm the Slovenian.
ReplyDeleteAlso Peljto assistant referee who had definitely the poorest possible performance in Nations League game, was confirmed, but of course Bosnian crew deserved another CL game.
Oliver with a rather sub standard game for him, but the fact he will be about to officiate an Italian team (you know the story) raises the bar.
Still, we talk about a team that gets always Cat. 1 referees in all CL games, like the Swiss one, but you can clearly draw again the conclusion about Italian teams and the management by Rosetti (over-appointed, in case, but never under-appointed).
Regular games for Makkelie, Meler, Guida and Schärer (in that regard, it has been confirmed that Mazic was there for an experienced Elite, regular observation, and not for a Young referee).
Kruzliak gets a bit less than previous appearances, but still Champions League, and one must also observe the incredible excellent path of French club.
Back to Makkelie, it seems that now he is following a certain regular path without being too much in the spotlight, to me, it would be also the right time to save a bit this referee from the possible risks and to ensure him finally a good path, would be fully deserved. We will see how he will continue.
Mariani: honestly, crucial mistake after crucial mistake, a very dark YC missed in his Nations League game, I see that now committee is giving him rather low profile games, like this one in which City win is fully expected, that's the way for committee, to give a referee still Champions League, but not an interesting game. Mariani is in a position that he must become Italian Elite nr. 3 but I absolutely don't see him ready for that. At moment he should keep his Category 1 status, but I think committee will close eyes and will promote him (in case, unfair, if other referees from Elite will be demoted for performance reasons, but we will have time to discuss that).
Finally, a message to RvT: your opinions are clear, nevertheless it would be good to discuss also about other arguments and not always repeating same things about Italian referees and so on, furthermore, I think you should always analyze case by case, if I can agree on Mariani, at moment I can't say that Guida is this disaster you are describing. I think you are not fullu objective, said with respect.
For me Chefren,
ReplyDeleteBoth referees are not good enough for the elite.
Its not about the anti italian.
I was a big fan of Collina and Rizzoli.
But Rosetti is not fair to other referees. Honestly is for me a big privilege. And that is far off...
And if there is a good italian referee i will say that.
I want to ask what is the first source or official platform that publishes the list of referees. I run a news account and I'm interested in being quick. I would be grateful if someone could answer me.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by saying "list of referees"? The official appointments for CL games?
DeleteThen, answer is uefa.com, but there isn't any list, you should collect them opening each page of the respective game, if you want to write down all of them in a single post / article.

ReplyDeleteI would like to underline the very important contribution by Sale (thank you sir!) regarding Kajtazovic, link to his comment is below:

DeleteThat's shocking, how could you trust referee when it's fully clear that ball was back after the crossbar...
DeleteYou can't really believe that the expert Slovenian referee specialized as VAR would do something like this, but watching the video, you must be speechless.
DeleteHe worked with Vincic for a long time.
After the famous story of Vincic years ago, now this one about another Slovenian.
Referees from other countries would have been thrown out of the window ages ago.
I'm really sorry to say...
My pleasure. There are sports media reports that Kajtazovic is facing quite a lot of trouble and even speculations about continuation of his career. Not only accusations about possible match fixing, it is reported that he was recently also fired as a PE teacher in one of elementary schools because of a fraud regarding his travel expences. Tough times ahead for Kajtazovic.
Deletethere is another dubious penalty from 55:30 and further....
DeleteThere is a lot of video material also from other matches refereed by Kajtazovic, mostly very suspicious penalty decisions in friendly maches. But I didn't want to bother you.
DeleteCrikey - that's awful. How he thought he would get away with such a blatant ruling is criminal!!
Deletehttps://ekipa.svet24.si/clanek/nogomet/prva-liga/670fb296a5881/nejc-kajtazovic-slovenija-avstrija-stave-skandal In this article you can see a few more rather questionable decisions. I can't believe a professional referee has so many examples of these in such a small amount of time
DeleteTerrible !!!! incredible both penalty and assigned goal
DeleteWell shocking predictions on my part!!
ReplyDeleteAgain, didn't really expect so many officials to get matches after appearing on MD2.
Also, surprising how little cat 1 appointments on Wed, is there a need for Elite on a number of these fixtures? - Probably not!
Not sure the country spread is quite right too with 2 out of 3 matches officiated by French referees with Arsenal, 2 Italians with City and Lille also 2 Germans for Monaco and Zvezda (surely this can be avoided so early on).
Also noticed that Zwayer twice in Italy (Milan both) along with Eskas whilst Shrarer in Germany twice - again, surely better to give these officials a variety of European cities.
DeleteThird game in Lisbon (Benfica) UCL game in 3 years for U. H. Meler. What do yall say about this??
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's so extraordinary. I remember very well that Arthur Ellis officiated three home games of Hibernian FC against Rot-Weiss-Essen, Djurgårdens IF and Stade de Reims within 6 months and 6 days in the 1955/56 season.
DeleteMakkelie getting the crumbs once again... This gotta stop.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that MD3 + MD4 UCL were not appointed as a set this time.
ReplyDeleteAt least they will reserve better choices, hopefully, for CL MD4, as this set was made before Nations League games. They realized they can't do always everything together, that's good.
DeleteI hope that we very soon will se a danish referere again on highest level, after Morten Kroghs debut in CL last season in young Boys - Man City, i hope to se him get more matches.
ReplyDeleteThe AFC seemed to have published their own badges like UEFA. However, only referee and FO wear it and assistant referees wear their own FIFA badges.
ReplyDeleteStart from 1:10
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G-e48Ppypfo&t=119s&_refluxos=a10
In another AFC U-17 qualifying match, the referee still wears FIFA badge (See 1:50). By the way, what is your opinions about the possible penalty incident in 1:03 and the red card incident in 1:46?
Deletehttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5BTWfjM6YyM&t=136s&_refluxos=a10
01:03 clear penalty, at first the defender knocks out attacker, then he regains ball possession :) VAR intervention expected in games with the technology, in my opinion.
Delete01:46 referee makes holding gesture, I think he thought about a more evident situation, looking at replay I don't see any particular action by defender who only makes a very soft contact with attacker, then attacker falls, but not enough for a foul for me
UCL LP MD3
ReplyDeleteBrest(FRA) - Bayer Leverkusen (GER)
R: I.Kružliak (SVK) VAR: C.Ruperti (NED)
6' Good no back pass call, ball was not kicked deliberetly to the goalkeeper
13' Wrong no call, IFK for Bre44 back pass to goalkeeper should been awarded IMO
16' Interesting situation mainly for 4O, strictly according LoTG RC for Bay head coach for delaying restart, but warning from Kruzliak and also from 4O (Kralovic) is acceptable for me in this situation
33' Unlucky decision to invite player to enter pitch after medical treatment, directly into play
55' Good teamwork, AR1 correctly signaled push from Bre19 on Lev20
Delete60' Missed YC for Lev24, for reckless tackle, warning is still acceptable for me, but YC would be better call
62' Strong public warning for Bre22, for dellaying restart-carrying ball away
67' Penalty appeal, for pottential handball, VAR check, no intervention, IMO grey area (but for me correct no call), so correct no intervention
72' Good teamwork, AR1 correctly signaled holding from Lev30 on Bre22, also YC given but for dissent I think
74' Correct YC given to Lev10, for SPA push, supported by AR1 signalization also
76' Good corner kick managment (warning)
77' Completely missed borderline Bre22 tackle on Lev21 (scissors tackle/sit on ankle) close to AR2
77' Correct YC for dissent to Lev head coach
84' Correct YC given to Bre34 for late challenge
89' Penalty appeal, for potential kick on first view looked to me as clear penalty, but no intervention. Kruzliak showed that there was some touch with ball, but if yes that was absoulutely marginal, IMO PK should been awarded
90+2' Correct YC given to Lev4, reckless kick
90+4' Bit harsh YC for Bre20 but acceptable for me
After the match YC given to Lev34 for dissent
quiet performance from Peljto from a normal match so far.
ReplyDeleteFirst Time seeing Kruzliak…and not very convincing by slovakian ref. Unsecure, very aggressive gesture and body language. Also weird lenient disciplinary line (YC forgotten at 31for example). Not an elite referee. No charisma and influence on players and bench. Ridiculous YC to Alonso in a tense moment).
ReplyDeleteAnd very complicated final whistle with lots of protests by Leverkusen (YC to Xhaka after the match). Not a good performance by ref.
ReplyDelete12' Very rare YC for simulation outwith the area by Schärer. Replay shown not completely clear, but initial thoughts is I'm unconvinced the card was needed, although I could be wrong
ReplyDeleteExtremely challenging early minutes for Kovacic in Barcelona with many difficult incidents for him to solve. VAR intervened to disallow a Bayern goal (tight but not cross over) but he has just played an equaliser by the guests rightly onside (behind the ball). Among the other incidents, there was one clear mistake.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteWho is Kovacic? You mixed Kovacs and Vincic, and you made the City player, Kovacic. by the way, he can't be in two place in the same time, because ManCity played at the same hour with Barcelona.
DeleteNothing mixed up, Andraž Kovačič was Vincic’s AR2 in yesterday’s match.
DeleteWhat do you think of the VAR intervention to cancel Feyenoord's 0-2?
ReplyDeleteClear foul. Good decision coming from de VAR
DeleteMy impression: Although Lotomba did grab his opponent with both hands, he didn't hold on tightly, and instead his opponent fell on his own.
Delete38' Possible penalty, not given in Leipzig. Nuñez clearly caught, possibly unable to reach the ball anyway without the tackle. Slightly surprised the speed at which the VAR cleared it, even if it may not have reached the intervention threshold
ReplyDeleteHaving seen further replays, I take back my last point, it seems clearer and clearer, there should have been an intervention
Delete38' Definite missed intervention for me in Leipzig, clear penalty.
ReplyDeleteDutch commentator is very negative about Meler.
ReplyDeleteI think the VAR intervention was fine, but I got to say it isn't the best match by Meler. No big mistakes, but he just isn't that convincing.
Clear penalty not given for Liverpool. Defender clearly takes liverpool player out. Shocking from VAR and referee not to spot it. Also no yellow card for mccalister (liverpool player) - clear contact and no dive.
ReplyDeleteAgree with comments above, clear penalty and intervention missed in Leipzig (again). A bit surprising to see this from San considering the penalty he intervened for in GEOPOR at the Euro.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the (decisive?) push in the back in APP at second Barcelona's goal?
ReplyDeleteNot clear enough to constitute a clear error imo. Not much extension of the arm, only 1 hand. Somewhat impacts the defender but in my view he exaggerated the contact. Easy foul usually for a referee to give though so interesting that it wasn't given on field
DeleteVery soft penalty for Inter for me its wrong. Again the question about refs under pressure not to offend Italians
ReplyDeleteBut if foul is whistled a SYC should have followed for SPA/LoR
Deletehttps://dubz.co/c/d50a4f
Deletehttps://ibb.co/xDTh9Y2
For me the reason why Oliver whistled it was the fact that he had a very good view on the scene, then his mind was set to a foul to be whistled for the action by defender on attacker. I'm convinced in case of different positioning by referee there would have been more doubts for him. At the end it is rather soft, but supportable. Not a genuine attempt to play ball inside the box can be easily a YC for SPA in most of the cases, but still the trend by many referees to avoid cards when about penalties, after the famous change of rules, I think we shoul also discuss about that, because all now is always in favor of defenders, if they were penalized too much before the change, now it's the contrary.
Correct RC - DOGSO by Makkelie in Salzburg. Very good wait and see before whistling as well.
ReplyDeletehttps://dubz.co/c/eb6cf5
DeleteVery good by Makkelie indeed, when the decision to be taken is big, it can be more difficult to bear the pressure and to resist before whistling. That's what we can see very often from the Dutch and his well known cool skills.
This was a classic scene in which a referee could have spoiled everything with a whistle during the shot, with ball entering the net..
Having been in the stadium, I saw a flawless performance by the Dutch team.
DeleteI hope all Austrian refs saw that, too - that's how it goes.
Compliments to Makkelie & Co!
Just one tiny little aspect: Just 5' stoppage time; I think just the DOGSO situation took four minutes; plus the game delay by Zagreb it would have made at least seven or eigth minutes. Had of course no impact on the result, but still - deliberate game delay was awarded.
I think after the Euros Makkelie isn't that keen on a lot of stoppage time....
DeleteVery weak call by Guida, never a punishable handball. Don‘t know why VAR needed so long to intervene, bad procedure.
ReplyDeleteWow, it is not even an intervention! Sorry, but what a call…
DeleteHuh? Where was Atletico's handball? I only see Hand from Lille?
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable decision by Guida…speechless here…
ReplyDeleteYou are right!
DeleteBut its not surprising when you see which referee is officiating this match.
Bad decision.
Perhaps we missed something but if not, long suspension needed for Guida and VAR Pairetto. Unacceptable and completely ridiculous penalty by italian team…
DeleteClear penalty and YC for reckless given by Mariani to Man City in 87'.
ReplyDeleteMoreover there was a VAR overrule in 48' to cancel a goal scored by Man City after a handball in the APP.
DeleteInteresting game for Meler in a quite tensed atmosphere in Lisbon.
ReplyDeleteThe first disallowed goal was a foul in APP. For me, this is nitpicking in reverse and not where VAR was invented for. A bit surprised to see an English VAR making an intervention there.
The corner is kicked; FEY player is holding, BEN player goes down. Ball isn’t playable for both of them -> after player goes down, the ball is cleared off the box by other Benfica player. For me a new situation appears already there. Then, after a new attack, FEY scores a goal. Sure, you can whistle a foul, but is it VAR stuff? It seems harsh to disallow a goal after OFR, while the ball was played by an other Benfica player during the specific holding. With many passes between the holding incident and the goal.
Something else I didn’t like in 1st half: strong dissents from two Turkish players at Benfica’s side. Meler allowed it. Both Turkish players were not wearing a captains’ armband. Meler should not allow that. In particular when players share the same nationality as him, it looks even worse.
Well, the IFAB are very clear that 'clear' does not mean 'possession'. All VARs should consider that Feyenoord is continuing in the attacking phase. The number of passes or the time doesn't matter at all.
DeleteThere's no point of debate there.
Yes, I dislike the rule in first place, but if we add the soft nature of the foul (Benfica player happy to go down). Such holding attempts happen at each corner-kick and the fact that this holding did not influence how and when the ball was played, made it for me nitpickery decision. I don’t like when VAR is used for this. Should be whistled live on the pitch for me
DeleteThe PK in Madrid was not given for an handball (the one by LOSC player is absolutely non punishable), but for a "low" contact. I would call him an "italian PK" rather than a clear PK; but for sure 100% never VAR stuff, and Pairetto/Martins were right in confirming the on-field decision.
ReplyDeleteNo, after he communicated with the players, they made a sign like "no handball". For me and the commentator, who mentioned to have rewatched the incident twice and sticks to his interpretation that a handball was given, it seemed like Guida gave a handball penalty.
DeleteEven if that was not the case, the penalty was fully wrong. A minimal contact, player already lost balance. Nothing to give a penalty for.
I couldn't watch games. Now I checked the penalty by Guida, honestly there isn't any handball by Atlético players, it is possible that the penalty is for this contact: https://ibb.co/wr04J37 between legs, but absolutely not clear. This would be too strange if confirmed by Pairetto and indeed I can't believe that. I think there is a chance that something not shown by all cameras happened, otherwise very big mistake for me, but again, with VAR, and Rosetti asking for removing soft penalties, this can't be absolutely explained by watching the public footage.
ReplyDeleteSpecial Moment in Bern: Bern's Captain Benito seems to win the coin toss and decides on which side they like to begin, therefore the kick-off would be for Barella and Inter. However moments later Young Boys opens the game with the kickoff. It seems like Barella is confused and asks Oliver why they dont have the kickoff. Oliver shortly speaks with Barella and keeps going with the Kickoff for the Swiss...
ReplyDeletehttps://streambug.org/cv/5777be
ReplyDeleteHere the incident from Leipzig - Liverpool.
My opinion is that it was assessed as rather easy fall and soft contact by Schaerer, but in this case, to sell the decision, Swiss referee should have booked Liverpool player for simulation. You can't have this situation with a play on, it's either penalty (and the contact seems to exist) or simulation (and one could maybe also justfy this call). But not the middle way!
Meler disallowed goal after OFR for holding following a corner kick:
ReplyDeletehttps://streambug.org/cv/e7049f
I agree with some of your comments above, the foul itself 100% clear, but in the context of the attack (corner), the player is not directly involved and he would have never reached ball. Still, an action that if seen by referee, would have been punished, but one should wonder how to manage other situations from corners in which you have many holdings and then the VAR should intervene in all such similar incidents? It's definitely a field in which it's very hard to find consistency. I think one can fully understand the reasons by Coote, but there is room for discussion as well (without the VAR shifting attention to that couple of players, nobody would have complained for a possible irregular goal).
Thanks to MH_svk for the report, here some incidents from Kruzliak game.
ReplyDelete67' PAI handball
https://streambug.org/cv/baee77
Arm not as body support. Grey area: penalty to be confirmed only if whistled by referee.
77' Long clip: possible YC for reckless arm, possible YC for reckless challenge (or maybe more) to follow, and then YC for dissent to Leverkusen coach.
https://streambug.org/cv/01b06a
89' PAI
https://streambug.org/cv/ebfa7b
I think the decision by VAR at the end was correct. First thing to say is that it didn't look offside before, it was also checked. I think the arguments for staying silent by VAR are: the immediate gesture by Kruzliak, the slight touch on the ball and not full contact with opponent. Still, most of the effects of this action were clearly against attacker and I agree with the opinion that penalty would have been better decision in this scene. Also, live, the perception is about a clear penalty. But should have been only whistled by Kruzliak.
Kruzliak should have shown red for Brest player where there was a hard foul on Adli.
DeleteAdli fractured his fibula...
