  1. It is worth paying attention to the observers: Milanovic observed by Kassai, Stojcevski by Cakir, Nuza observed by Moen

    1. I am glad to observe Stojčevski in Białystok. I think he is quite talented and in general a safe pair of hands. I saw him in the UCL 1QR's Iberia - Malmö this season and was positively impressed. He got some good appointments after that and, based on today's designation, he succeeded in them, too.

    2. Some comments about these matches?

  2. Challenging start in Posen vs Vienna. For me wrong offside call after 1minute as the defender was trying to play the ball so it should be judged as a new situation.

  3. Very good straight RC for SFP by Gidzhenov in Armenia.

Video of RC - excellent decision. First card in the game in a situation that from main camera looks more like yellow. But on a replay a Very Clear Red Card. Very good position of Gidzhenov and a clear view. GJ

  4. Looks like it's not a good outing by Stojčevski in Białystok.
Two crucial decisions after VAR intervention, disallowed a goal for a previous foul and then a very clear SFP missed live.

  5. OFR review in Aberdeen for handball, clear PK. (game is on in background so not fully focused)

      Maybe harsh, but not wrong.

    2. I thought Penetra slipped, but there was definitely contact before that. Nevertheless, it's undoubtedly a very hard decision, but sometimes things like this happen.

    3. Schlager is still a young referee who still has to make a name for himself, hence the red card, which isn't wrong. A more experienced referee would have shown a yellow card, which is also justifiable

    4. Harsh but player taking a risk with contact on opponents heel/achillies.

    5. Premediated and nasty foul by the AZ player, excellent and very courageous decision by Schlager to immediately show a RC (despite being 2'). The German referee should be explicitly praised for his call.

    6. Djeez. I find the use of the word “nasty” really exaggerated in this case. It’s clear that the defender had absolutely no intention to foul the player — he was simply late. Moreover, the point of contact was not on the achilles tendon but rather on the (shoe) heel itself. Nevertheless, a supportable red card. But “nasty”…? Come on.

  7. Random thing I've noticed is Germany appoints a lot of non FIFA AR's in European games

    1. Yes, but those ARs mostly are the regular Bundesliga assistants of the respective referee, so that e.g. Schlager today can simply work with his normal trio.
IMO, it makes more sense than using e.g. Kempter and Dietz in those games - they already have enough appointments with Zwayer.
And Mark Borsch obviously brings more experience than any FIFA referee...

  8. Any countries still not yet made their debut in the group stages of UEFA?

  9. Jagiellonia Białystok - Ħamrun Spartans FC (Igor Stojčevski)
    https://files.fm/u/hhe849h2ph

    Key Match Incidents:
37' [OFR] Goal disallowed for a foul in the APP; I wouldn't blame the referee much, the crucial leg contact could have been missed on the field
48' PAI holding; rather no impact on play therefore no VAR intervention
49' Goal JAG disallowed for offside, good call by AR2
50' YC 13HAM for reckless use of arm, potential VC?
59' [OFR] YC 10HAM for reckless tackle changed to RC for SFP; I think not every VMO would have called the referee in this situation, it was a follow-through challenge and most likely the raising leg movement was assessed deliberate and although the studs contact was with a raised leg, the referees opted for RC after OFR
69' PAI handball; a tricky incident - the supporting arm clause prevailed although one could assess it as deliberately throwing himself to play the ball
84' PAI (most likely) simulation by 99HAM, no replay shown

Stojčevski with a lenient approach in the first half that made players quite frustrated: 7' spa-like, 23' step on foot, 31' spa-like, 33' step on foot, 35' spa-like, 36' spa, 45+1' illegal use of arm, conflict - no card in all cases.
He started cautioning players in the second half when the atmosphere was already heated up: 50' cynical illegal use of arm, 50' UB, 54' reckless challenge, 59' see above, 90+3' dtr. Two more cautions could've been administered: 90+1' interfering with GK, 90+5' step on foot.

In general, I think the Macedonian chose a bad (too lenient and passive) approach and was not able to change it early enough to avoid troubles. Some good advantages were good sign but lack of experience was visible. I don't think the two OFRs should seriously change the assessment. I hope he will get another chance in the UECL this season though.
