Two observations: there is definitely a full set of Romanian referees.
ReplyDeleteDifferently from other countries, it seems as Vassaras "asks" Rosetti for quantity rather than quality... we have Kovacs nr. 1, then we can talk about Petrescu maybe as second ranked, but still in recent times less than the past, and then many others getting always different games, very hard to have a linear perspective of the situation.
Then, here once again, Colombo under focus for promotion and he gets Slovenian team as Italian referee...
In the previous matchday there were 0 Romanian referees (0 in UCL, 0 in UEL, 0 in UECL). And nobody said anything. So yeah, now it is a compensation to achieve balance. Nothing extraordinary.

I wasnt impressed by Andrea Colombo in Rijeka, to say the least. He didnt manage to get the game under control, many corners and throw ins delayed because of holding and pushing, some fouls missed imo, then a strict RC decision (cant imagine it in an important CL game) and later potential foul before home teams 3rd goal. Finally with 3-0 and away team with 10 players, maybe 4 minutes of added time is too much, but that was not so much of a mistake but a good example how the referee never completely connected with the game imo. He wasnt managing, just trying to apply the rules.
