Good management there to comeback and give the FK to calm everyone
ReplyDeleteAustralian player wins the header, Paraguay player runs into the Australian player and Turpin bizarrely gives the FK to Paraguay.
ReplyDeleteThen misses a clear YC
Missed elbow maybe yc
ReplyDeleteBut the disent from the bunch not acceptable
Correct YC, reckless tackle
ReplyDeleteAbsolute nonsense, complete double standard from the first half fouls he didn't card
DeleteDisagree here clear late tackle than can be called SPA, correct to tell everyone that this will not be allowed.
DeleteWhere were the YC in the first half? There were similar fouls that he blew but didn't card; Yet second half straight away cards come out? Pretty inconsistent
DeleteMy issue isn't the card itself, just consistency or lack of
DeleteAbsolutely ridiculous YC from Turpin
ReplyDeleteLet a free-for-all of fouls on Australia in the first half but then 60 seconds in has cards the other way
I agree to an extent - Cáceres should have been cautioned in the first half - but nothing else. It’s pretty clear you are a bit clouded by being an Australia supporter
DeleteNot denying my Aussie support has a bit; But consistency isn't about team colours, it's general refereeing.
DeleteIn my experiences, been told you set a standard and keep it; Turpin did not
Look I can see your point of view but it’s not too uncommon to see a change in disciplinary approach after half time (talking outside this World Cup). Had a different PAR player made the challenge would have been a YC too.
DeleteAlderete with a nasty looking injury after a small foul by Irankunda. Where’s the red card like in Canada-Qatar? I thought that’s what happens now if players get injured?
ReplyDeleteSituations are uncomperable in both action and consequences.
DeleteI was being sarcastic. They are both careless fouls
DeleteStarting to give more and more fouls as the contacts starting to get a bit too much
ReplyDeleteOverall good game by Turpin, really different game compare to ENG-CRO with 2 really physical teams, let the game flow maybe a bit too much sometimes but i guess Collina will be happy. 2 YC, that calm down some players and the benches. Not a lot to say, he will continue in this tournament imo.
ReplyDeleteI think it'll take a lot (very very bad performance) for Turpin to not continue will referee till the quarters easily imo not further because would expect France to make the semis. If France doesnt , I could see him whistling the final.
Delete+1 @sarish
DeleteTwo very physical teams but I thought this game had a real chance to just explode like in the USAvAUS match but very different context that I did not foresee. As both teams were to progress with one point, they almost seemed happy to not really push players forward and turn it into an end to end game. Yes, both physical teams but perhaps was Turpin’s style and calmness that helped but perhaps situation had a big part to play.
ReplyDeleteWell expected pefromance from all referees last night. About Barton, see him no more than round of 16, about Turpin, well, maximum on this tournament can be semi final!
ReplyDeleteOne semifinal spot is certainly reserved for Marciniak; therefore, he may be able to reach the quarterfinal stage.
DeleteWhy that assumption ^
DeleteBarton has consistently demonstrated strong performances - not sure why you think his path stops at RO16
I am not sure, but more and more I have the feeling that Turpin is better in really hot clashes, where he needs to "go all in" with his very high technical level and communication skills. Here, in a more easy game, he acts a bit too much in his "laissez-faire-style" and seems to be less engaged, maybe a bit bored. But I am not sure about that. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteI do like how he can switch between styles but he seemed very bored yesterday. He probably didn’t expect it to be as heated as it was, and the game may have slipped away from a worse referee
DeleteTbf he can have this ‘’bored attitude’’ in some ligue 1 games but for a World Cup game there is no way he is thinking like that, maybe wanted to be behind the plays and not interfere too much.
