  1. Interesting handball and penalty decision at 86' of PAR ARS. The only question for the VAR is was the ball stationary. All replays I've seen have been a little grainy, but it does look like the ball may be spinning. I think the player took a very daft risk, but it should only be handball if the ball stopped before the goalkeeper passed it. Until I see a better video, we can only assume this was checked and it did, but I'm not 100% convinced as yet

    1. Clip of the incident:

In my opinion it's impossible to say whether ball was 100% stationary or not. I see still small movements before the kick.
However, it's players fault, they put themselves in trouble by continuing to do in this way, even after the instruction introduced by UEFA. One can't blame the call by Romanian referee. In a scenario you don't call this one for the small doubt that ball was not stationary, it seems you don't apply what UEFA asked for, it was too blatant and I think a refere will be always inclined to call this one without questioning too much.

  2. Two very interesting incidents in Marta Huerta game.
VAR intervened for a potential penalty, but with a possible offside before, then the second VAR intervention for removing a penalty call.

In the first case, the final decision to give YC for reckless, despite of the offside before, must be praised, very rare. Let me also praise the commentators who showed a rather deep level of knowledge compared to others, I guess in a serie A game nobody would have understood what assessed by referee.
So in the end Marta Huerta missed that penalty and the offside before was a correct call as well, because with allowing the ball to pass, even without playing it, was enough for the attacker to influence keeper (the latter had the ball obstructed by attacker at the moment of the pass, and she could have expected an action by opponent).
Excellent call by VAR Javier Iglesias Villanueva.
To follow, the second incident is not penalty and you can have a small clue live, how attacker falls. Then I also think it was rather attacker stepping on defender, even if in a soft way, so maybe for this reason the final decision was not simulation. However. let me say, if we think back at England's game with Massa, honestly one should admit this is a rather similar situation, with a 100% contrary decision by VAR, removing a given penalty when there could be doubts (in the end, defender puts the leg and one could consider it as trip).
Many interpretations with grey areas don't make VAR a perfect tool, rather the contrary, but that's nothing new.

  3. Let's call this one "mismanagement" by Silvia Gasperotti.
No reason to stop the game...
