  1. Chefren, will Davide Massa be no longer in Rocchi's team as AAR1?

    1. I don't know, I can say that basically Rocchi should be removed from the list at the end of this year due to age limits, so we are talking only about a few games. Possible that he could be kept on the list in case of derogation for next season, but this must be still decided.

  2. The only Elite Category referees left without appointment so far are Brych, Skomina, Çakır, Taylor, Kuipers and Marciniak. Six names for six UCL second legs games, unless UEFA surprise us and appoint Aytekin, Mateu Lahoz, Královec, Collum or Bastien although they have been appointed to UEL first legs.

  3. The observer for the return leg between Dinamo Zagreb and Young Boys will be Manuel Díaz Vega (ESP).

Also note that what I posted yesterday might not be completely irrelevant as I thought it could be: Undiano has been appointed for one of the only two matches that don't have an impact on the spanish team for group stage drawing chances, the other one being Vidi-AEK.

  4. Adding up clubs' coefficients from club ranking
    https://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method5/trank2019.html

    we receive the following results:
103,50 - Ajax vs Dynamo Kyiv (Turpin)
77,50 - Benfica vs PAOK (Mažić)
56,50 - BATE Borisov vs PSV (Zwayer)
54,25 - Crvena zvezda vs Salzburg (Orsato)
42,00 - Young Boys vs Dynamo Kiev (Undiano Mallenco)
20,00 - MOL Vidi vs AEK Athens (Rocchi)

So, on paper, Turpin with the biggest game.

  7. Good first half by Gil Manzano in Valencia - Atletico. Match was pretty calm, only one correct YC for Costa. I am always impressed with how well players respond to him in the Primera, his optic surely lends itself towards a modest approach, presenting himself on a level with the players (and Simeone). Excellent onside by AR2 for the 0-1, good performance by the whole team in the first half.

    1. Very impressive in terms of alertness! Maybe sometimes a bit too aggressive while managing players, but for sure he was mentally in the game for the whole 90 minutes... see the gesture he made in 47', just for playing on after a possible foul in the midfield. I would define him a "hungry" referee. This of course shouldn't turn into aggressiveness, but basically I would say a very good skill for a young referee who seems to be at moment the future for Sweden.

    2. Maybe he get’s his aggrevsivness from being used to handle hot games and that he’s an former police officer(they some times are verry aggresive while handling confrontations).

    3. And now, 2 years later, he's in the Euro. He's progressed very well

  10. There was a blatant holding in 46 minute from Garay (Valencia) to Costa (Atletico) that it would have been the second yellow card to the defender, and it was missed by Gil Manzano, in fact, he didn´t give the foul. VAR couldn´t intervine because it was outside the penalty area.

    1. Pawson with the top clash of the matchday, I think he's actually refereeing well but he's being appointed for lots of matches, considering domestic league and EL Playoffs, always two matches per week. The risk is that he may get to the match a bit tired, hopefully he will recover well.

      Delete
    2. Michael Oliver is by far the most fit ref in Europe. Michael Riley should get sacked asap. Again a terrible set of appointments. Out of form Pawson fo the big match, and the worst of all is Jon Moss at Southampton. Persona non grata in Southampton, his terrible refereeing against Everton last season nearly cost relegation for the Saints. At the moment, the way that PGMOL is being run is shocking. Excluding Oliver, Taylor, Kavanagh and Atkinson, the rest are below average.

    3. Andre marriner is as a top ref although age will Soon catch up with him as well as Martin Atkinson

    2. Difficult situation: The first impression is, that the RC is quite harsh, because Huszti can not really avoid it.
Then you see the angle at 00:35 in the first video, where it seems, that he wents for the shin and not the ball, which would make it a clear RC - then again the slow-motion could be deceiving here.
So I think, both decisions would be supportable.

  20. 1-1 by Dinamo Zagreb, very good ONSIDE by AR1 but there were protests for a possible foul in build-up of the action.

  21. Very demanding game for Alberto Undiano Mallenco. Many cynical fouls including elbow offences (YC Sanogo; mandatory YC to Hoarau not issued but I understand that call as that foul occurred in the phase of DZG's really aggressive way of playing).

It looked like a good call to let the play continue after the alleged foul on YB player plus very good onside call from Roberto Alonso Fernández leading to equalizer.

    1. To my point of view
      1) it`s a controversial episode! DK player was hooked by himself
      2) play on
      3) PK

      Delete
    2. 1) the contact was, but weak, the DK player decided to strengthen the impression.
      2) it is difficult to see the details.
      3) DK player was the first on the ball, there is not foul.

      Delete
    3. 1)DK player was hooked by himself, the contact is weak
      2)Play on
3)There is contact but it seems weak again
I think the most important here is the consistency

      Delete
    4. 1) When you look very carefully, the attacker doesn’t trip himself but is being tripped by the defenders left foot. As he doesn’t exaggerate the contact but simply cannot stay on his feet in my opinion a penalty should have been awarded to Kiev.
      2) No penalty, correct play on
      3) A fifty-fifty situation to my taste. KIEV23 clearly lifts his leg when the attacker wants to pass by. I have doubts however whether the contact is enough to make him fall to the ground, or if he exaggerates and creates his on fall. Play on is an acceptable decision for me.
