Good morning chefren where is the official team?
ReplyDeleteACM-INT:Turpin
ReplyDeleteMCI-RMA:Marciniak
Like my predict before.. Turpin
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely expected appointment. And therefore, even more strange that FFF appointed Turpin to a Sunday game. What could be the reason for that? Maybe UEFA had him in mind for MCI-RMA and made a last minute swap?
ReplyDeleteEasy explanation is that domestic appointment was made before (and indeed we know UEFA made appointments after first leg scores) and they agreed to confirm it, without removing. Too close times.
DeleteWhile maybe, once informed, the Polish federation was more flexible with Marciniak management.
Makkeile finali yapacak
ReplyDeleteThat's my prediction after QF matches
ReplyDeleteNo surprise in this game, that was more open to this option, and so logical conclusion even more NO SUPRISE in Manchester.
ReplyDeleteMarciniak should indeed be the name... this scenario leaves Makkelie and Taylor candidates for the final.
Is the Marciniak on Manchester is Confirm sir?
DeleteIf marciniak is in Manchester it should IMO only leave Makkelie as CL final option, given he is no option for the EL final (already had that one) and given there are referees who performed worse who already got at least a 1/4 final assignment (Letexier, Gil, Dias). Leaving Makkelie out without reason would be another ridiculous thing by Rosetti. So when the name tomorrow inderdaad is Marciniak Makkelie is getting the Istanbul game. Taylor will be there at the EL final imo.
DeleteNo, the appointment will be released tomorrow.
DeleteI think we shall not rule out Vincic.
DeleteTurpin became the third french referee to referee derby Milan in ucl history after veissiere in 2003 and alain sars in 2005 means that 3 referees from France in all 6 derby Milan in ucl mean half of the matches and the other referees from Russia and Germany and Spain
ReplyDeleteIvanov, Drg Markus merk and from the Spain?
DeleteYes my best friend
DeleteFrom Spain.. who?
DeleteManzano last Wednesday
DeleteDamn why i forget
DeleteNo Elite referee as 4th official this time (while Bastien was available...)
ReplyDeleteYou can clearly understand why, in this case.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteNot the kind of information to be shared on the blog, even more because you can't know that.
DeleteIf thats the case Gozubuyuk could easily have gotten a CL 1/4 Final Just like last year as "compensation" (dont like this reasoning, but that is how UEFA/Rosetti works. He didnt so that says it all to me.
DeleteHow do you know?
ReplyDeleteThe absolutely expected appointment. Predicted by many of us after the end of the QF. I find it a little bit funny that after Kuipers was revealed as observer for this game, some of you thought for a moment that the Com prepared a surprise. Let's be honest, from three weeks ago until now, Turpin was the clear name for this game.
ReplyDeleteOne can wonder about Kuipers appointment, was the Dutch "needed"? I think this is the classic appointment of a committee member in a top game, but the previous ones with Rosetti on last weeks had been different (always kind of surprises). Turpin is not a candidate for a final, having already handled it, so Kuipers is there just as presence...
DeleteMarciniak in man city vs real Madrid and in the final Taylor if real Madrid in the final or makkelie if man city in the final
ReplyDeleteI think Danny Makkelie gets a UEL semis 2nd leg as a warm up for the final.
ReplyDeleteHere how La Gazzetta dello Sport, most important Italian newspaper, presents Turpin for Milan's dery (you can translate the article):
ReplyDeletehttps://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Champions-League/14-05-2023/inter-milan-arbitro-turpin-precedenti-polemiche-4601577205108.shtml
Very negative portrait, based on the previous games with Italian teams, in addition, a fact that I didn't know, he had some issues with a car, found full of drugs and guns and registered with his name. But of course he had nothing to do with that. This is how "journalists" bring fans to have bad attitudes against referees. Absolutely unacceptable.
Expected appointment though.
ReplyDeleteWow,did any of you saw the ending of 1st half for Ortiz in Valladolid vs Sevilla?
ReplyDeleteCatastrophic if I may say...
First, towards the end there is clear DOGSO but he lets advantage and action procceds.
No action was taken.
And now to crazy part.
Valladolid takes corner,Sevilla kicks the ball away,he whistles for the end.
And timing wqs exact when he whistled the end and Escudero,Valla player shot the ball and scored.
Of course,Valla players and fans were outraged...
What do you think about this, have you seen anything like it?
He whistled end of half when ball was going to goal, wow

Gentelmans, good evening to all of you. My question is about La Liga, who are candidates for promotion/demotion this years? Thanks in advance!!!
ReplyDeleteMateu and del Cerro will be retired after end of the season, so I suppose that may be without demotions
DeleteChefren, you know match officials for EURO U 17?
ReplyDeleteElçin Masiyev (AZE, 1991)
DeleteDamian Sylwestrzak (POL, 1992)
Jamie Robinson (NIR, 1994)
Miloš Milanović (SRB, 1993)
Michal Ocenáš (SVK, 1991)
David Šmajc (SVN, 1989)
Adam Ladebäck (SWE, 1992)
Atilla Karaoglan (TUR, 1986)
Thanks Quilava, I didn't open a new post because not still with an official source, really sorry. We must wait for the competition.
DeleteThank you
DeleteWhile Turpin was indeed somehow expected due to his status, we should not forget that his QF was only an average performance with significant authority problems. Actually I think, directly after the QF one would have said, that putting him on a 2nd leg Milan derby doesn't sound like a very good idea.
ReplyDeleteSo if the game becomes hot and very challenging to referee, it will be interesting, how Turpin can deal with that. IIRC, he hasn't had many of such games on the international stage.
Yes agree. I'm not sure Turpin was planned for the Italian derby when the committee made the draft appointments. On beforehand, they may considered the Italian derby as the most complicated one from a management perspective, requiring a top manager and authority on the pitch.
DeleteThe appointment of a committee member doesn't scream Turpin either. And the French FA appointed him on Sunday. I'd rather think Turpin was initially scheduled on the Wednesday game (MCI-RMA) with Lutz Fröhlich, which is also in line with his (now cancelled) domestic game on Sunday. Sure, the French FA probably made the appointments very early, but I cannot believe they didn't consider a potential UCL return for the French #1 at all.
Perhaps UEFA did communicate a Wednesday game to the French FA before the 1st legs were played and e.g. Vincic in Milan with Kuipers to keep the Slovenian entourage happy. However, Real Madrid's anger after the 1st leg could have forced UEFA to appoint Marciniak in Manchester, swap Turpin to Milan, moving Vincic to...? A potential UCL final or 4th official in the final?
I fully share my blame for the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta and for its journalists when they give a very misleading picture of Turpin. I feel shame to be italian in front of such thin way to create polemics and tension even before the match, but we all should know how the press is negatively working in most of the cases and not only on football. Everytime I saw Turpin in action, I always appreciate his calm but leadershipfull way to manage hot matches (of course after the famous Feyenoord-Rome).Congratulation to Turpin and good luck for tomorrow's match and happy birthday, a gift that each referee would receive.
ReplyDeleteTwo questions because I miss something: Was Turpin replaced by Buquet during his domestic match this week end ? That's what I red
@Chefren why do you say "You can clearly understand why, in this case" concerning the fact that Bastien is not appointed as 4th o. Is matter of performances ? Has he been so bad recently ? On other hand Frappart seems a little bit loved by the committe. She is always around
About Frappart, the fact that committee can show, thank to her appointment, that a woman is appointed at that level and that's enough :)
DeleteAnd yes, Turpin has been replaced in the game he was appointed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9Rh1MufJek
This means that for both referees appointed for the semifinals, the call by committee came too late (and indeed we know, it was on Thursday) and you can see how much difficult is to arrange domestic assignments with international duties...
Have to say I am surprised that many of you doubt over Turpin tonight. Why should a game where one team is 95 % favs to go to final after first leg score(according to pro analytics) be such a big problem for top 5 referee in Europe?
ReplyDeleteAnother thing many of you wrote in another topic that is very strange acting from Sevilla in Turin as they took 3,4 " unnecessary " yellow cards last 20 minutes so this players will miss final if carded tonight.
Sevilla coach knows that all yellow cards were cleared before semi finals so players can take yellow in both legs of semi finals and still be able to play in final. Rule 52.04 from UEFA.
One more thing I agree with most of you that is sad Kovac did not any game in semi finals. But he has only himself to blame, I have watched him in 30 games and this was first time he was so lenient in first half and I knew it directly he will hell in second half because of that. But today it it seems like standard to not show any cards in first half no mater how mandatory they are which is very bad for committee.

Interesting situation in 45+4 (1:05:29) Indonesian scored by direct pass from a drop ball, for all expert here how exact LOTG arrangement for situation like that.
Very huge controversial ending in that match!! Very very poor officiating from the referee.
DeleteUEFA should train their refs in SEA Games, and their referees will be more challenged
DeleteWhat a match!! What a shame for AFF and AFC!! Best referee in the tournament Jumpei Iida didn’t appointed on the final and then this catastrophic happened
DeleteNot the first time situation for Al-Hatmi, may I remind you of second leg semifinal AFF Indonesia v Singapore
DeleteTill 98’ (interrupted) 11 YC, 6 RC (2 for players, 4 for team officials)
Delete@admir yes you’re right, he also showed very poor performance on that match, his team made very huge mistake
DeleteI think Collina need to work visit to AFF :))
DeleteFIFA and AFC should seek more AFF referees, the utmost priority must be Indonesian
DeleteAFC should seek to train new East Timorese FIFA referees, and giv
AFC should put their young promising referees to AFF games, no matter u-17, u-20, u-23
In this match I see that why Al-Hatmi didnt anticipate AFF games, ugly and violent games. He already had other match of this intensity
And the most important thing, AFF members must uphold Olympic Charter and FIFA Statute, so ugly that even officials did such violent thing
9 YC, 3 RC for Thailand
Delete4 YC, 1 RC for Indonesia
2 RC for Thai officials
2 RC for Indonesian officials
Total: 13 YC, 8 RC
It was one of those matches that ref can't control even if he could.
DeleteI watched it till the end of 1st ET.
His whistle almost at end of regulation was for foul,it's not his fault that IND players went to the pitch, celebrated it and then they realized it that he whistled a foul.
Moments after that,THA player scores and we have ET.
All bookings were justified, maybe one too soft around 50ish minute but ge could not mantain control, this was one of those matches that is ridicoulous in terms of dirty fouls, simulation, timewasting and other stuff.
First 2RC for players were for fight after IND scored for 3 2 in ET.
2nd RC was 2nd yc for THA player,SPA and dangerous play, justified.
4th one I did not see.
Ref was not that bad as you suggest, maybe he could have done better managament job,but to control these players was impossible.
Thailand's second goal was a referee error, Thai players didn't start from the right point of foul (foul was far before the half line, but Thai players start far in front the half line)
DeleteI think it was actually at least 8 red cards at the 98' mark. There were 2 red cards shown for the aftermath of the tying goal before full time. Then there were 6 more red cards shown after the goal that made it 3-2 (2 field players + 4 total bench personnel).
DeleteAnd the dropped ball result at 45+4' is fine. That's not what "directly" means. The player passed it to a teammate who scored. There's nothing wrong. Not sure what sort of advice or attempted intervention the AR was given there. The big questions regarding that play are A) was it a penalty? and B) did he drop it to the right team? But if it's not a penalty and he gave it to the right team, then there are no issues here. Those are, of course, two big questions though.
I agree the referee impossible to control the player but the important things is what can you do to manage such situation to get optimum result, for me simply he didn’t had enough preparation or maybe he was underestimate that match (because like Admir said he had enough experience before in AFF), if he know that he can’t control players attitude, I think he could talk with both teams manager earlier (he talk after that catastrophic happened)
DeleteSorry, I hadn't gotten to the 2CT for Thailand. So I saw 9 total red cards displayed.
DeleteRed to IND player (1) and THA bench personnel (2) after second Thailand goal.
Reds to THA goalkeeper (3) and IND player (4) after third Indonesian goal.
Reds to two THA bench personnel (5 & 6) and two IND bench personnel (7 & 8) after third Indonesian goal.
Red for 2CT to THA player (9) during run of play.
Wow.
Like anonymous said what do you think about THA equalizer to 2-2 situation, is it justified? I mean I can understand you can made such error after you made confused call (foul or final whistle)
DeleteI mean he tried to let advantage, then he whistled a foul.
DeleteIt's not his thing and his problem that IND players jumped"the gun" and went to the pitch to celebrate.
His mistake there was as Anonymous said that the foul happened couple of metres behind,so that's his mistake.
And yep,I agree he could not manage both of these sides, but it looked like he thought that this was going to be an easy match for him, what are these kids going to show me?
Well, they showed how passionate they could be and that they also use dirty tricks as well as pro's do.

Hopefully this match today stays at top in terms of how challenging it was 😀
DeleteThe alleged issue with the 2:2 equalizer is that the free kick was taken from about 6-7 yards into the attacking half when the foul occured about 3-4 yards behind the line. So the restart was 10 yards away from the incident. You can see an Indonesian player noting this right before the kick occurs. Is it a mistake? Yes. Does it happen relatively often? Yes. Is it acceptable? No. But is it a missed KMI or something Indonesia could truly feel agrieved about? Also no. We're talking about a kick that is either 50 yards from goal or 60 yards from goal... Indonesian had every opportunity to defend it.
DeleteFor me, 89' might be the most interesting incident. Referee gives a simple foul to the defense. But that attacker deliberately falls into the goalkeeper. He had plenty of time to hurdle him. It is at least a yellow card and I see a strong argument for a red card. He's deliberately fallen into him and drags his legs and his entire weight over the fallen body of a prone goalkeeper. That's dirty. Really dirty.
That’s why I said Al-Hatmi performance was very very poor level, it’s not only in term of preparation (I agree with M, he looked like he thought this would be easy game for him), but also in presence (management of the game) and by technical too, I think if I could break down there were many incident that actually is border line, RC or not, YC or not (that may lead to 2nd YC), and penalty or not (especially incident in extra time), even if you were know that after catastrophic happened could you given that team penalty? Was it given for spirit of the game or not given to save your life :))
DeleteI’m waiting for ESF comment :))
DeleteSome interesting insights from VAR conversations in the Premier League.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.premierleague.com/news/3352782
"I breathed a sigh of relief at Sheva's goal, extra time would have been really difficult. Materazzi and Gattuso mumbled throughout the game, I can still hear their voices".
ReplyDelete"It was the most complicated match of my career." Gilles Veissiere, 63, laughs off and remembers the longest derby in the city of Milan. "I've overseen hundreds of matches, I can't remember one like this, so tense for players, coaches, managers and fans." The Frenchman refereed the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between Inter and Milan at San Siro on 13 May 2003. That time too with the usual good-luck ritual: "To have more concentration, I spent the last few minutes before the game in the locker room, repeating players names and numbers out loud. I couldn't get anything wrong."
"It was a historic event, the two teams had never met at that level in Europe. The club officials told me that if they could make one million tickets available, they would sell them all."
What was the atmosphere like at the stadium?
—
"I'm telling you in English. Incredible (repeated three times, ed.). An unusual tension was perceived on the faces of the players, Ancelotti, Cuper, Berlusconi and Moratti... Not to mention the minutes before the match, a total silence".
How did you prepare?
—
"I watched the first leg on TV to get a better understanding of the context, but the first was a match only "studied" by both teams and not really played. A 0-0 and better for Milan, who could have changed everything with an away goal in the second leg."
With Shevchenko…
—
"He scored just before the break, upsetting the tie. It's difficult to explain, but for me and the referee team it was almost a sigh of relief. After a really complicated 45 minutes, that goal meant that the match would end in the 90th minute, regular times. And trust me, it wasn't a small affair (laughs, ed.). Perhaps a conclusion in extra time or on penalties would have been more appropriate. With Martins' 1-1, in the 180' the two teams canceled each other".
How did Inter react after the AC Milan lead?
—
"Getting nervous as time went by. In the last few minutes, more than a few times I had to remember on both sides that San Siro was not a swimming pool. Some players tried to dive cleverly, like looking for a penalty or a free-kick. Ah, and then Materazzi and Gattuso. They mumbled throughout the game, I can still hear their voices".
La Gazzetta dello Sport
(this time good piece of journalism)
Good luck Turpin and team
ReplyDelete3 Fouls first 90 seconds - firstly start for Turpin already
ReplyDeleteTwo early fouls by Turpin against Inter when they were attacking and a goal was possible to score. He was not afraid of whistling, in both cases there could have been discussions in case of goals scored. This is officiating without thinking to VAR.
ReplyDeleteThe last statement to be read with a positive meaning in this case :)
DeleteTo me it looked like Theo kicked Barella in the leg and didn't even touch the ball. If goal was scored i think there would have been OFR
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I agree.
DeleteHe didnt. Play acting from Barella and Turpin was aware of it
ReplyDeleteMissed foul Calha on Brahim?
ReplyDeleteControl established without booking.
ReplyDeleteOf course, players are helping him, surprising to see Milan being this passive when they are 2 0 down.
It all depends on result,if Milan scores it's gonna get complicated,if not, easier match for Mr.Turpin.
Indeed, in the first 15' at least, Inter players' dissents were pretty aggressive. Good first half, there were some mistakes, nothing big anyway, but the most important thing is to keep the control, succesfully done so far.
DeleteIs this a record when it comes to number of fouls? And Turpin seems to have decided to not give any cards today.
ReplyDeleteMissed VAR intervention in 51', RC for VC should have been given.
ReplyDeleteI agree, won't be surprised if UEFA supports it though for some weird reason…
DeleteReferee expert Wolfgang Stark confirms. For him "a clear violent conduct and a RC". Brisard should have intervened, difficult to see on the pitch.
DeleteAgreed. Impossible to see for Turpin but Brisard has to intervene. Unbelievable
DeleteWhere referee expert stark said that?
DeleteVideo please??
DeleteBrisard should have helped
ReplyDeleteThis is a CONCACAF style performance from Turpin except the players generally respect him.
ReplyDeleteMissed YC 59’
ReplyDeleteTurpin needs to keep calm, cool and collected!
ReplyDeleteMilan will be frustrated especially with the atmosphere, he needs to use his cards in these moments of the game when needed.
Excellent use of cards, showing who is in charge is certainly what’s needed!(79’)
DeletePerformance rate for Mr Turpin and Mrs Frappart fellas?
ReplyDeleteIt’s the “I don’t want to issue any yellow cards, to avoid that a player will miss the final- approach. And to achieve this, I whistle a lot of ‘fouls’ in order to keep control and prevent that players will cross a line.”
ReplyDeleteSame as Orsato last year in his semi final, and most likely Marciniak will try to do the same, however I hope his game will be more entertaining.
I must say, Turpin is the master of avoiding controverse. That’s obviously why UEFA likes him. Are his games the most entertaining to watch? Definitely no. Some referees have that additional skill to really balance on a tightrope: having the courage to let the game flow and control the game with their natural authority, excellent management skills and a strategic card management.
@Anonymous, none of player can miss final if getting yellow card as all yellow cards were cleared before semi finals. They can only miss ofc if getting red card. So it was not that approach from Turpin as he knows very well that cards were cleared.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed one thing here that some referee are always protect because huge name like Turpin,Makkelie,Marciniak.
But we have to be honest here and Turpin killed this game with his small fouls and talking a lot, ball was in the game only 50%!.
Then he miss super mandatory yellow card after yellow cards on purpose . I can tell you one thing if Milan got 1-0 he would be in same trouble if not bigger as Kovac in Milan-Napoli.
Turpin got saved by Inter 1-0 goal. He did not cared about the game he just wanted to go from this game without big scandal and to avoid red card or penalty . Sure not bad game but not good game and I was waiting a really super referee performance because it is semi final.
