Two interesting situations in first half of Ajax - Chelsea, with VAR involved for offside matter. Both cases with Chelsea goal scored.
At first in 19', the 0-1, a wrong offside flag by AR2, attacker in regular position when last touch by teammate, then maybe a deliberate play by defender and a deflection to follow by another defender, but the attacker was onside so no need to make assessments about that, just a wrong flag. Then in 40', quite interesting, possible 0-2 disallowed, attacker close to Ajax defender who tries a very last and desperate attempt to save ball. I agree that offside is punishable because in reality the defender is impeded in making a different action and she can't reach the ball. Very long check before calling Ferrieri Caputi to monitor because defender made a movement showing a disinterest in playing the ball. One can agree this was not enough because just with the presence in that position, she could be considered indeed as active and punishable. Withou VAR in this game, we would have seen two crucial mistakes so far, the first objective, the second maybe can be discussed by some people, but still quite clear punishable position, if you ask me. Not the best performance by Spanish AR2.
