Amina Gutschi from Austria in both Madrid-Twente, and Twente-Madrid???? so avoidable!
ReplyDeleteSecond male appointment in this group stage, Goga Kikacheishvili with his team coming from the Nations League game. Georgian woman as fourth official to make experience, and that's surely more understandable than the Austrian assignment of last week, where we know that basically Austrian referees can get more. But maybe, it's all about belonging to Cat. 2...
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what Shaw is meant to do to avoid that completely unecessary YC after scoring (31'). When away and scoring at the opposite end to your fans, it is normal to celebrate towards the home crowd. To get no sympathy from the referee for having objects thrown at you but just a card strongly and coldly brandished for daring to celebrate in a very normal manner. I'm sorry but unless I'm missing something the decision is beyond ridiculous
ReplyDeleteFrom the video, in my opinion the Italian referee interpreted that the player was there exactly on purpose to do that celebration gesture right in front of the Swedish fans. She could have avoided it, celebrating in a different way, maybe making the gesture while running immediately after the goal, and not waiting to stand in front of them . Silvia Gasperotti must have read it as very deliberate action. Unfortunately I think it is also an issue of different cultures, with the Italian mentality more inclined to think about that. I can also believe in the good faith of the player, but what she did could seem like provoking people. Then I don't know all the rest of the events that happened during the game, but I try to explain the decision. You can have a referee paying more attention to that, while others nothing at all.
