  2. Do you think that the usage of Walsh only as IV official is a demotion ?

    1. Maybe all English FIFA referees were already busy.

    2. Chefren is right, only English FIFA who has not got an appointment this week is Tierney, who is coming off the list (as ref and VMO) at the end of the year anyway. Number of the other English out this week are either non-FIFA (Hooper) or joining in the new year (Jones/Gillett).

    1. Wow! I know he used to be a FIFA referee in Select Group 1 but how often do referees not currently part of SG1 referee a Premier League match?

    2. Select 2 is the step below and they're VAR trained. Tom Brammall came up from that group. Oliver Langford and Tim Robinson did a premier league game while in SG2. Most 4th Officials are SG2 this weekend other then Robert (Bobby) Madley who gets a game. Guessing it could be due to tbe amount of Officials in Europe.

    3. In answer to how often they do games in the Premier league very rarely. 2019 with Tim Robinson. They mainly give SG2 a run out in tbe FA Cup with the VAR system in action.

  5. Interesting little fact. Hearts have had 3 Belgian referees in their 4 home European games so far

  7. Kruashvili ended the game after 7 played minutes (and a long delay before) due to persistent fog.

    1. I think with better management they could have totally avoided the kick off.

    2. Well, we all know that UEFA wants to play if there is any small chance to do so. Anyway…

  8. How did Darren England do today

  9. Very soft penalty for West Ham, even West Ham striker Antonio was surprised it was given.

  10. Van Driessche very good in Edinburgh. Excellent red card late on

  11. Not a convincing performance for Istvan Vad and his team. He missed 2 crystal clear YCs, but the biggest mistake occur in last moments of the game. Vad already whistled penalty (clear) for Partizan, but at the same moment AR2 raised his flag for offside. But the replay showed that there was no offside and that decision was wrong. So, very significant mistake because if Partizan scored, he would level the result (2-2).

    1. Yeah, its impossible to tell without VAR whether Partizan guy was onside or offside.

    1. Also 11 yellow cards (including coaches) in the game, which looks like a record in this new competition (previously 10 YCs by Steen in Slavia-Maccabi).

      Both penalties not so clear.
First one: Pushing/Charging is not enough. The main contact is mainly caused by the attacker, I think. Not clear, whether there is an additional step on the foot by the defender. Overall, rather wrong call, I think.
Second one: Looks a bit strange and unintentional by the defender, but I think, still a careless foul, bringing the opponent down from behind.

  13. On their Instagram profiles, Dutch assistant referees Mario Diks and Charles Schaap announced that yesterday's match in Florence was the last one in their FIFA Career. They will leave international scenes from the coming 1st January. Congratulations for what they achieved. Especially Diks, could have achieved more if it hadn't been for Makkelie's decision.
