    2. Seems as Austria will lose one UEFA spot since also Lechner would have been to replace. Maybe his retirement came too late in order to nominate a second Austrian.

  3. I'm surprized by Kamphuis demotion form FIFA REF; I was supposing he was a talent in Netherland. Any details from dutch readers ?

    1. I'm surprised too. Last season he was even crowned best by a leading football magazine. He made his ECL debut. But this season he got nothing but mediocre matches. He never got much trust from the KNVB. I think he had deserved better and lost his motivation due to his treatment.

    2. He will continue international as VAR specialist, so FIFA batch as main referee is not neceassry. They decided to give it to Nagtegaal.

  4. OT: Super League
Does anybody have an idea which referees the Super League would use, if it were to actually happen? Surely UEFA wouldn't allow UEFA officials to referee both UEFA and Super League competitions...

  5. FIFA again did not accept all proposals from Slovakia (4 times in total). Kristián Micheľ did not pass this time. Are Slovak referees really that weak, or lack of diplomacy?

    1. There is something wrong with Slovakian (and Czech) refereeing management. They tend to strictly punish their referees, even humiliate them in public by issuing severe statements, many changes on the lists, referees are not trusted and respected in these countries. I don't know what is the real quality of referees there but it rather doesn't help referees in gaining needed skills and self-confidence.

    2. @Euro Soccer Ref: Well, I am from the Czech Republic and I have to agree with you. I think it is cruel for Jan Machálek to be removed from the international list, his performances in the Czech league are good at all. In Tomáš Klíma's case it is difficult, he had lots of great matches, but on the other side some crucial mistakes in another games... Anyway, Dalibor Černý and Ladislav Szikszay are both very solid and talented referees, so good luck to them.

  6. Any info about VMO list? It would be interesting to know if someone replaced as referee goes on as VAR.

    1. For this one, we have to wait FIFA official publication of 2024 referees list, expected in the early days of January.

  8. FIFA has published the international refereeing list. Not a pdf this time, but a database where you can filter on country, role, confederation. All on: https://www.fifa.com/technical/refereeing/international-referees

If anyone has access to the 2024 pdf, I'd be interested. jan@dutchreferee.com is my email address
