  1. Ma Ning is appointed for IRNJPN and Kim Hee-gon is appointed for QATUZB

    1. Looks like Ma Ning is a replacement for one of the Australien referees, Shaun Evans is my prediction, as there are australien assistants.
Another fact is the replacement of Ma Ning as forth official the day before.

    2. There is no replacement, it's just a lack of planning by the AFC, they appointed the first two games, without thinking about the other two, and when they saw that they needed to appoint another Chinese they had to find other assistants for him, it makes sense to be the Australians, since not even Faghani , nor Evans should work anymore.

      Delete
    3. I think it’s simply replacement because you can easily appoint Adham Makhadmeh or Mooud Bonyadifard, they have full team.

    4. Analyze the options that AFC can rely on for Iran v Japan, analyze that there will be two more semi-finals and the final, analyze that Australia can advance and be the last opportunity for the Australian assistants, just analyze, and you will see that it was not a substitution, just a AFC choice combined with poor planning.

    5. They still have Mohanad Qasim Essey Sarray from Iraq. I agree this is very poor planning and this is political choice that AFC must be taken after poor performance from duo Australian.

    6. Nah, you can’t have a West Asia ref for Iran vs Japan. Is was either Aussie or Central Asia

    7. 1. I think you need to googling first where Iran FA come from, Iran is not from WAFF, they change to CAFF; 2. The committee chosen Ma Ning from China so no “neutrality”, so your argument become invalid.

This is simply worst management ever.

  2. So AFC now after disastrous management before just wait and see with keep big names like Mohamed Abdullah Hassan, Adham Makhadmeh, Abdulrahman Al Jassim, Kim Jong Hyeok, and maybe Yusuke Araki and Mooud Bonyadifard, while Alireza Faghani performance clearly rejected by the committee and Shaun Evans after absurd signal he made, also not giving convincing performance, poor poor Australian. I think we already seen the last performance from Alireza Faghani, I got information that he won't be appear at WC26, hopefully this is not true, Faghani deserved better farewell but I deeply regretted he also thrown his chances, I don't think if this is related to Iraq-Iran political issues but we don't have the power to control the media even when we know that the RC was at least supportable decision. Poor AFC and now the last man standing for potentially become the 1st referee from AFC to lead the final of WC I think it's only Mohamed Abdulla Hassan from UAE. Solid performance, charismatic, and still no issues so far.

    1. Yes, if this was the last big tournament for Faghani (no WC 2026 for him), then the management by AFC can be described as even worse, he would have deserved a better farewell. Nevertheless, for some reasons, he can definitely blame himself, maybe not that much regarding this tournament, but more about what he did at last WC.
A referee with outstanding skills regarding players management, but in my opinion missing in some other aspects, like smartness on the pitch, and so on.
A pity that very likely he will end with more controversy than glory.

    4. I hope Alireza faghani will be in World cup 2026 he is the one of the best referees in the world not in Asia only

  3. Difficult because Ravshan irmatov refereed the last final in UAE and also he refereed the final in Qatar 2011

  4. Solid performance so far from Ahmed Al Kaf, penalty correctly given by him with good positioning to quickly whistle it. I think he surely will go to WC26.

    1. a name from neutral country since old days but his name up and down. I think he could be another Nawaf Shukralla.

    2. Al Kaf got big appointments within AFC in the last 3-4 years, but never anything important from FIFA, so WC26 might not be for him. KSA, QAT and UAE refs have far more geo-political support within FIFA.

    3. But FIFA is Collina and not Rosetti. Al Hoaish not good enough and AFC will get extra quota for WC26.

  5. excellent tournament for Al Kaf, possibility for final?

  7. Now OFR, Al Kaf called by Mohamed Mohamed. I think it’s harsh decision, YC still supportable. Seems like Mohamed Mohamed re-refereeing in this decision

Surely more than a step on foot, one should understand how much contact makes the tip of the foot and the studs into the ankle, the red card in my opinion can be absolutely issued for excessive force, how player enters the challenge, but I think not all VARs would have agreed on this decision and maybe not a 100% red for all.

    3. I prefer yellow. Definitely not for VAR

    1. Interesting that they make an explanation about a technical referee's decision, something that you should never expect, and it was n't for a technical mistake (because the reason of yellow card can be clearly for excessive celebration).
Basically, there shouldn't have been place for such statement, but this can explain us how many protests and complaints they had for this fact.

Now, in case of Iran elimination, it would be interesting to see the next step for Faghani, but very likely in all cases his tournament must be considered as already over... that's my feeling.

      Delete
    2. Agree I think it’s over for him on this tournament but with this explanation I don’t think his chance to attend WC26 is over.

      Delete
    3. So the decision by Faghani was correct and AFC support his decision but with such logical interpretation and then why Faghani if Iran are out would not get SF or F?

      Delete
    4. There have been situations where FIFA or the confederations publicly supported a referee's decision, but not so much internally and avoided further appointments for that referee.

  10. Great offside decision by AR2 Ashley Beecham in 63' to take away a goal from Iran

  11. very good performance so far from mixed team Ma Ning-Australian ARs, especially for delaying offside decision, credit to AR2 Ashley Beecham.

  12. Very clear last minute penalty for Iran whistled directly by Ma Ning in a convincing way. A quite satisfactory performance by the Chinese today, but a bit too lenient with cards for my taste

    ReplyDelete
  13. AFC has now a reason not to appoint Faghani in semifinals.
Better for them, not good for the Iranian.
The crucial penalty call by Ma Ning, very clear: https://streamin.me/v/494e3a86

    1. Do we believe or not believe that is DOGSO-yellow? Because #4 was already on a YC and it would have been a 2YC.

I fear this is one of those situations where the referee felt the penalty was enough because the game would effectively be over, most likely. But had the penalty been not converted, the missed yellow card here would be a big problem for extra time.

      Delete
    2. No, there is enough doubt for it not to be DOGSO. Control is not 100% there, the goalkeeper is very close, and it can be argued that the direction of play is more sideways than forwards. SPA is a good technical decision and good game management.

Here a video, decision: YC for SPA, supported by VAR.
That's a clear red card, I think more for SFP than DOGSO, but still. When keeper make a such desperate intervention...

    1. And it was 2nd non-intervention by Kim Jong Hyeok. I don’t know I think he was good when he in charge in the middle but when in the background he’s very very passive and naive to not intervened in 2 big incidents.

Despite this situation I think it was not good performance by Kim Hee Gon, still can’t beat Kim Jong Hyeok but much better than his other compatriot Ko Hyung Jin. Shaky performance in short.

  18. My predictions

    JORKOR: Nazmi Nasaruddin (MAS)
    IRNQAT: Yusuke Araki (JPN)
    Final: Mohamed Abdulla Hassan (UAE)

I just can't find the reason why big names like Makhadmeh and Al Jassim only get 1 match. This is just incredibly poor management, Kim Jong Hyeok, Makhadmeh, Al Jassim, Faghani are out and surely it's not easy to predict the names for the SF because it's messed up. IMO Mohamed Abdulla Hassan get the easiest match so far with his solid reputation and his national team already out, so I wonder why he would not get the final this time.

  19. How Japanese referee Araki will referee Iran Vs Qatar after iran beaten Japan today in QF

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Just take a look all circumstances, it’s not easy at all. Ma Ning already lead Iran match in QF, so the other option just Fu Ming and Al Kaf. But did you think Fu Ming initially the 1st name to lead the Chinese team in Jordan-Tajikistan? For Al Kaf, did you think that he is not final candidates? If he assign to this match then surely Mohamed Abdulla Hassan will get the final, but at the same moment committee wouldn’t have backup plan for the final. Then you only have Yusuke Araki available. But I’m not surprise if we will see repeated names again in charge, either Fu Ming, Ma Ning, or Al Kaf. IMO the only conditions that will surprise me is to see Tantashev or Al Ali get their 4th games.

    2. And still we don’t talk yet about political issues, neutrality, etc.

  20. I agree with Juan Mohammed Abdulla Hassan from UAE will referee the final

    ReplyDelete
  21. In my opinion Ma Ning is most suitable for the final. He is the only one to have refereed two consecutive knockout games, and China has another top referee Fu Ming who can be VAR.
