  1. I start with Obrenovic, observed by Rosetti. Sometimes we are maybe too particular in making predictions, it was easier. All candidates for Elite are being observed by committee members, so Obrenovic with Rosetti makes sense compared to Pinheiro with Kuipers.
So the Portuguese, the Slovenian and Rumsas at moment are the three above all. We'll see, but it's rare that after committee's observation a promotion then doesn't follow.
About the rest, honestly I didn't expect Gil Manzano in Aston Villa - Juventus, he will be again with an Italian team, very crucial game for both sides. Oliver in Bologna another particular assignment, considering that Bologna got all Category 1 referees before.
Kabakov confirms the good form after a poor period, he is back, but I think chances for promotion will follow on next updates and not now.
Then, the big surprise: Letexier in Champions League and he will have to miss the domestic event on Tuesday. Of course we can guess that the UEFA appointment was made after the publication of this event. Still, Turpin is not seen for big games and he gets a rather "normal one". One can heavily discuss about that...
Schnyder in CL but not Schaerer: it looks like the mistake made by Siwss in his last CL game was too big for UEFA, he returned in Nations League and now I think he will appear in Europa League, but another matchday of CL missed for him.
Normal assignments for Lambrechts and Saggi.
We don't see Nyberg in CL, PSG - PSV was maybe another very big topic for committee, and more generally, including Schaerer again in this discussion, it's the confirmation that for committee NL assignments are rather very low profile games if compared to CL and maybe even EL in some cases.

    1. Ah, and no appointment for Attwell as well (VAR in PSG - PSV).

  2. Turpin's treatment is extremely harsh IMO.

    1. I don't share the criticism of Clément Turpin's management: Dinamo Zagreb and Borussia Dortmund are separated by two points and the underdogs have home advantage, so you can expect an open game. If the Croatians win, they would overtake the Germans and probably push them out of the top 8. This encounter is also about whether they qualify directly for the round of 16 or have to take the detour via the play-offs. Top matches don't always have to include the same nations. I think it's quite positive when referees don't whistle the same team three times a season.

  3. I don’t like the management of Turpin. Difficult to understand his status and reputation at the moment. One could say, the appointment of Letexier isn’t deserved based on his performances after the EURO. But I’m sure he will do fine.

Gozubuyuk has been out since MD4-MD5 and Nations League, while still active in the Dutch League where he makes a decent impression. Strange, but it could be sth personal.
I already predicted this, based on how KNVB’s new head of referees operates: prior to the international game, they appoint the full international team in a hidden game domestically (same AR’s and even the 4O) as preparation.

  4. Wonder why Michael Oliver has a Scottish AVAR

  5. 4 VAR CL debuts in these 9 games: Van Driessche, Draganov, Borosak and Gillett. (Plus, first of the season for Hernandez and a debut for Cuadra on Tuesday).
So clearly more variety there. Already 34 different VARs in CL this season compared to 30 last year.

  6. Definitely referees like Makkelie, Taylor and Turpin hiding in less important games.
What does the committee want with this?
To protect them or is their path coming to an end?
