Excellent appointment for Maresca, he’s back as a trusted referee.
ReplyDeleteThird big appointment in a row for Zufferli, and Sozza/Massa get good appointments unsurprisingly.
Also good appointments for La Penna and Manganiello
Also the serie b playoffs is happening now, we might need to add them
DeleteIn the Bundesliga, the battle against relegation is very tight. Before the final matchday played this weekend, the 3 last teams Wolfsburg, Heidenheim and St. Pauli all have 26 points.
ReplyDeleteSt Pauli and Wolfsburg face each other for a direct battle.
Daniel Siebert was appointed to that one and Robert Hartmann (not well-known outside of Germany but experienced and actually a very good referee the last 2 seasons) gets the other game involving Heidenheim.
Also, 4 referees will handle their last Bundesliga game, as
Deniz Aytekin (we all know him, unlucky international career),
Tobias Welz (former UEFA Cat I, Cup Final 2020, always been an old-school but experienced and reliable referee),
Frank Willenborg (IMO underrated, always remained (too) calm, didn’t really get the chance to achieve much) and
Patrick Ittrich (widely appreciated by fans and media, good skills in dealing with players but weak technical accuracy)
are retiring.
Concerning news coming out of Scotland as referee John Beaton has had to be placed under police protection following a leak of his personal details online. I will copy the article below and include the statement from the Scottish FA
ReplyDeleteJohn Beaton and his family spent last night at home under police surveillance following a leak of personal details online.
"The Scottish FA condemns in the strongest possible terms attempts to compromise the safety of match officials. Such vigilantism, motivated by decisions perceived to be right or wrong on a field of play, is a scourge on our national game and we are grateful to Police Scotland for their swift intervention.
We are also clear, sadly, that this is the inevitable consequence of the heightening criticism, intolerance and scapegoating demonstrated this season by media pundits, supporters, official supporters' groups, clubs, players, managers and former match officials.
We do not make that point lightly as the national association. Yet it is an inconvenient truth. Those who have sought to apportion blame and conspiracy towards match officials to deflect from defeats or perceived injustices throughout the season have contributed to an environment that puts the safety of our staff and match officials in jeopardy.
This is the consequence of a hysterical media narrative, fuelled by irresponsible knee-jerk post-match media interviews, commentary and official social media posts. The cumulative effect impacts on our ability to provide enough referees to service our game at all levels. When it compromises the safety and wellbeing of our most senior match officials, enough is enough.
Referees are not infallible. Mistakes will be made on the field, and subjective calls made in front of the VAR monitor, just as managers will pick the wrong team, goalkeepers concede soft goals and strikers miss from five yards out. Yet the reaction to these inevitabilities could not be more contrasting.
What happened yesterday is not an isolated incident. There are many examples of match officials being placed in harmful situations but with individuals fearful of speaking out lest it exacerbates the situation or causes further alarm to friends, family and colleagues.
We will not allow this to become the norm. We will not allow a situation where match officials require special provision to protect their children at school to be considered an occupational hazard. We will not allow a situation where staying at home with the front door locked and avoiding the hazards of public interaction becomes a coping strategy.
The Scottish FA will be seeking to strengthen its rules to better protect those integral to the game and urge those who will doubtless join us in condemning incidents like this to support those proposals, not contribute to their watering-down on the basis of self-preservation.
As we approach what should be an exciting finale to the season, we ask those who have personalised and hyperbolised their opinions, those who have sought the easy way out by attributing defeats to perceived refereeing errors, and those who have approved incendiary statements and posts to reflect on their contribution to creating an environment of intimidation, fear and alarm.
We urge tolerance and perspective to prevent any further, unthinkable escalation."
It was such a subjective call!? A new angle ( image) came out which was also 50/50 for the handball incident, it was making back pages in the Scotland.
DeleteThe Scottish FA should be praying by now that Celtic fails to win that game with the home advantage too because everything will get out of hand for Scottish football , everyone will come back to that VAR penalty call at last minute of the match " rigged" will be the theme all over media, supporters and fans
To be honest, I think 95% of VARs would've intervened there.
DeleteIt's a very clear handball. Fans who claim otherwise are either ignorant or unserious.
DeleteI think people are arguing that there is no proof that the ball was played with hand, otherwise really no explanation for all that stuff.
DeleteDon Robertson has reportedly been appointed to the Scottish title decider between Celtic and Hearts.
ReplyDeleteGood performance by Chris Kavanagh in AVLLIV today. Plenty of key match incidents to assess:
ReplyDelete- two disallowed goals for offside by both ARs (27', 55');
- correctly allowed goals (52' no foul, 73' no offside, 90+2' no offside);
- three correctly rejected penalty appeals (23' not enough, 83' blatant holding by Emiliano Martínez but far from and with no impact on play, 90+1' handball but very close to the body);
- didn't fall for attempt to create a 2YC to 11AVL by an opponent (60');
- no violent conduct by 4AVL at the incident with 10LIV, missed YCs though (71');
What I didn't like is that he kept both eyes closed to blatant dissenting behaviours by Szoboszlai (17') and Buendía (45').
Some incidents from the UAE League in recent days:
ReplyDeleteHalil Umut Meler (Var: Ozutoprak)
1) https://streambug.org/cv/f687b0
2) https://streambug.org/cv/a1c2bb
3) https://streambug.org/cv/9e5978
4) https://streambug.org/cv/c55408
5) https://streambug.org/cv/52d363
Lawrence Visser (Var: Boterberg)
6) https://streambug.org/cv/644ea4
7) https://streambug.org/cv/cf427d
8) https://streambug.org/cv/cd54c1
Meler's game was very difficult (Al-Jazira and Al-Wasl were playing off directly for the Asian Europa League spot) but this was not his best performance. Incident no4, the most relevant of all eight, speaks for itself! He started well with a deserved early card for delaying the restart at 10', but the Turk missed too many incidents and allowed himself to be too undermined by the (Al-Jazira) players. The overall management skills he displayed were though very strong. Visser's performance was good in a normal match but he spoiled it a bit by not issuing the red card at the very end; even if the attacker was trying to break free of a hold, he did ultimately punch his opponent in the stomach and should have been dismissed.
DeleteJust watched the clip about Visser.
DeleteOnce again, really sorry, but something to say about the Belgian referee. Third clip in focus.
Once VAR calls, and I must say excellent spot by the room, it must be violent conduct, you have the evidence, punch in the stomach, even commentator agrees (I say that because very often commentators are rather lenient about such incidents).
Why YC? Not enough intensity? That's how VAR shouldn't be used, yes, the referee has the final decision, but here all is about an evidence of RC. The rest is just to avoid to make a decision for me.
To add, first clip, penalty supportable, but used contact by attacker, VAR can't join, for me very soft but once whistled OK.
Then, handball very evident, here I disagree with commentator, he says that defender is not looking at ball, true, but arm in all circumstances, can't be in that position, we must make handalls application very clear. Penalty, defender took the risk of committing it and he did.
Watching Meler once again, he confirms to me that he has great potential abilities, but on the outside he very often comes too raw and confused, as if he can't fine-tune some final channels perfectly. However, he is certainly a referee with something extra, that is evident, and you can notice some high-level game management. Too often, however, he then ends up complicating matters within the matches themselves.
DeleteI always read your comments about Meler with pleasure. I think he should have been given a semi-final fight in the European league or Conference League this season. Finally, I wonder why Rosetti's team gave up on this referee so easily?
DeleteOn clip number two, speaking seriously, what is the argument against awarding a penalty kick?
DeleteWatching the Scottish league decider, ref Don Robertson will have a fast paced / aggressive game at Celtic park! Good luck
ReplyDeleteExcellent penalty award from Robertson in 45+1 for handball called live.
ReplyDelete+1 it was great call by the ref
DeleteFollowing on from that an excellent first half from Robertson, calm, controlled in an incredibly hostile and tense atmosphere. Set his bar for a YC as mandatory and has been consistent in his decisions. Both YC's correct and best of luck to him in the second half.
DeleteSo far so good for Robertson. Calmest man on the park. Consistent decision making allowing the game to flow. A lot at stake in 2nd half.
DeleteWhat was the reason for the penalty? For me, the arm was in a justifiable position for the defender's action.
ReplyDeleteArm raised blocking path of ball. Not supporting the body totally punishable handball
DeleteExcellent Robertson first 45 minutes. 1 yellow card for each side and a very clear penalty absolutely no debate. The hand is up very very high. Hopefully no controversy in the second half.
ReplyDeletehttps://streambug.org/cv/1384c5
ReplyDeleteHandball once again protagonist, but here no doubts, clear penalty, very good to whistle it live.
Agree with Chefren here, great live penalty call by Robertson. 60 min into the match, good consistency with yellows. To me has the belief of the fans/players/coaches of all calls. Looking very top grade so far!
ReplyDeleteGoal given by VAR for Celtic after incorrect offside call by AR2.
ReplyDeleteVery, very poor from AR2 honestly
DeleteTotal blackout by AR2 here.
DeleteVery very tight decision. Lines on top of each other so no blame to the AR
DeleteNo that was the inactive player who was offside initially, seems to have confused the AR.
DeleteRobertson making the sensible choice to end the game immediately after the 3rd goal and to get the players off following the unsavoury scenes.
ReplyDeleteNot so sure he blew the final whistle tbh
DeleteYeah I'm not sure he ended it by choice but sensible not to try and play the remaining time.
DeleteOverall good performance by the referee in such circumstances I was impressed
DeleteGood performance by Robertson although AR2 with a big mistake....he is lucky VAR exists to say the least.
ReplyDeleteToday's match between Bayern Munich and Cologne, the final round of the Bundesliga, marks Deniz Aytekin's farewell, as he retires after 18 years officiating in the league. While many may not forget his Barcelona vs. PSG match in 2017, it doesn't diminish the many great games he officiated throughout his remarkable career. Thank you, Aytekin.
ReplyDeleteAytekin was a medicore referee international, in the Bundesliga he is one of the Best and the most popular referee in Germany (only Jablonski is maybe similar popular). He has the ability to handle also the most emotional games in a very calm and communicative way and has a high authority. His popularity is also based on his high presence in TV and other media.
DeleteFor me, Aytekin has been the best Bundesliga ref. for many a season. Under the dubious intervention and influence of PSG's owners, Uefa dropped him and went to crown Zwayer as heir apparent to Brych. Unfair immediate treatment and unfortunate outcome in the long run.
DeleteIttrich performed very well in his last Bundesliga game, and received very warm farewell gestures from the players of both teams after the "final whistle".
Delete@bundesligafan most popular referee in Germany is Patrick ittrick .. he is a funny guy :)
DeleteUnfair treatment ? Come on, his refereeing in Barcelone was a scandal and one of the most abyssal performance on UEFA cups.
DeleteUnfair treatment 😂😂😂😂😂
DeleteOne of the two "additional assistant referees" ("penalty-area assistant referees" was Siebert (Brand initiated the first penalty-kick). Possibly, the harsh treatment of Aytekin was reversed when Siebert got a reprieve a couple of years after his "Madrid debacle", and has has gone through a "recuperating process" till the pinacle this year. In the Champions League Final he will meet one of the protagonists in Barcelona, their head-coach then, managing PSG now.
DeleteI can absolutely see and agree at least somewhat with what adiro is trying to say. I'm not sure it was down to influence from PSG though, I think the same may very well have happened if the roles were reversed. Aytekin was essentially "demoted" after that game (still Elite on paper, but the appointments he got afterwards absolutely screamed Cat 1). Imo I don't think it can really be justified to crucify a referee like this over just one game, no matter how poor the performance was
DeleteRobertson was excellent
ReplyDeleteYes very good, he should be getting bigger games in Europe.
DeleteBenefited a lot domestically from having to referee Rangers v Celtic in the semi final where Collum was injured. Hopefully gets a similar opportunity internationally.
DeleteI think it's likely Beaton will retire now. Probably had enough of the disgraceful scrutiny and pressure he gets
Robertson was excellent indeed, a justified appointment and I am happy to eat humble pie on that one. Agree regarding Beaton, I think that will be him, I can't see him wanting to go through another season of that. The media for me have a large part to play with that. Absolutely they should question the incident like we have done in an appropriate way but I absolutely can not accept the claims from some sections claiming corruption when it completely baseless.
DeleteHe’s done plenty of Celtic v rangers since then and with Beaton out of the way internationally he should be in contention for
ReplyDeleteLater group stages. Just depends of uefa give him the chance
Two penalty appeals for Chelsea in the FA Cup final not given by Darren England, both weren't "clear and obvious" errors so VAR was right not to get involved. Overall decent by England who seemed to get the yellows correct also.

Overall, good and convincing performance by the CL final referee.
Excellent decision after first OFR, unnecessary OFR, but you can see, when games are so crucial, VAR starts to call for everything, that's human.
DeleteSecond incident: clear handball, offside not materialized.
Not easy to spot, correct OFR.
Bundesliga referee Frank Willenborg in his last game, start of the second half

(I don't know how to make video clips and I just found a short on the internet, so please excuse the bad format.)
Mass confrontation in Roma vs Lazio. A difficult situation to manage but the referee became too preoccupied with one player allowing the situation to escalate behind him.
ReplyDeleteI'm also not sure from what I've seen that Wesley has done anything meriting a red card
The referee thinks it’s the NBA. He should absolutely not push away players to stop them from fighting. He missed everything because of that.
DeleteIn fact, this is Maresca's style: in recent times he tends to throw himself into scuffles in order to physically stop the players, and he does it as a preventive measure. But in this case I have to agree that, by focusing on pushing that player away, because he was thinking about the conflict between those two, if we look at the video, the full sequence, I don’t have time to post it now but maybe it will be shown later, you can see that he notices that specific clash and isolates everything else around it. As a result, he doesn't think that something could also happen among the other players from there. I wouldn't say he completely loses control, but his focus is only about what he is trying to stop, and therefore he can't have full control of the situation. However, he is certainly helped by the two assistant referees and the fourth official, who in my opinion undoubtedly reported the behavior of the other players to him, and in the end there were two red cards shown without the use of VAR, which is absolutely fine.
DeleteThe match itself was completely one-sided. Lazio completely gave up and showed no real intention of trying to make things difficult for Roma. The game flowed without problems, and apart from that incident, everything else from Maresca was correct, very good overall. He will surely receive a high evaluation despite this incident, which remains marginal, because in a match like this, confrontations are the order of the day and, honestly, a referee just has to come out of this kind of game alive.
As you all know, Rocchi’s committee is satisfied with very little, and for them this will certainly be considered a great performance.
Maresca imo did very well today in heated Rome derby.
ReplyDeletePlenty escalations and he did good.
Glad to hear this..
DeleteManchester Utd v Nottingham Forest
ReplyDeleteGoal given after VAR review rejected by referee for handball. VAR had ruled it as handball and referred the referee over but referee Michael Salisbury rejects the review as he has deemed the handball accidental. Minute 56/57
Very clear handball imo and what commentator said is very true.
DeleteEvery other week, different criterium what is handball and what is not.
Premier League match centre have stated as the ball comes off the hip before hitting the hand, the referee has deemed the handball accidental and as it did not lead to an immediate goal the goal stands.
DeleteLooked like it hit his hip then his arm and he wasn't the goal scorer so can understand why Salisbury has given it
DeleteThat handball incident was dealt with correctly in my opinion, if Mbeumo had scored it would've been a clear handball and so Salisbury had a good game overall , superb in the second half especially job well done.
DeleteOne question: had he been a defender, would a penalty have been awarded? I believe around 95% of referees would say "no". Why referees should treat handballs in attack differently (goalscorers aside, as it's mebtioned in the LotG)? (and why most of them indeed do?)
DeleteI still have in mind the defensive handball call by Vinčič in the SWEPOL WC play-off final where, according to the LotG, he should've ignored the double arm touch by Zieliński and award a penalty for the subsequent tackle...
Video:
Deletehttps://streambug.org/cv/14d369
In my opinion a punishable handball, but the worrying fact is that VAR thought about a punishable handball while referee, in the same league, had a different idea, this must be absolutely avoided at least for handballs! This means there aren's clear guidelines. I know 'pitch incidents are difficult, but here we are missing the basics.
In Italy this goal would be annulled not for the handball - goal scoring rule, but because assessed as classic and punishable handball, thank to that the attacker could continue his action.
To answer to Euro Soccer Ref, it's however true that, at least in leagues like Spain and Italy, there is this different perception of any attacking handball before a goal, in most of cases, it's always punished and that's a trend.
Overall correct refereeing by Sozza in Genoa-Milan with a crystal clear penalty given.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I still think he’s someone that tend to have issues in game management.. I am still not quite convinced with him
also yesterday, a really controversial penalty was given to Al Hilal against Neom.
ReplyDeleteThe match was refereed by Sidiropoulos.

At first glance, I would question Mustapha Ghorbal for Qatar - Switzerland, since Arabic is spoken in both Algeria and Qatar, and I would find this assignment unfortunate.
Delete@Peter I think when a language is spoken by so many countries, there is some leniency regarding referee appointments. Last World Cup we saw Turpin officiate Senegal, Lahoz officiate Argentina. Geiger with both Australia and England in 2018. But it would probably be a bit more invalid if Pinheiro officiated an Cape Verde game or a Dutch ref with Curacao.
DeleteNo there is no problem one from and other from africa like argentina and spain or portugal and brazil
DeleteI like most of calls Philipp , except I believe there will be a French team at MD 1 . The rest spot on, interesting Zwayer at ENG CRO supposably the biggest game of the round
DeleteNo PK given here by Gillet who is finishing the year by worst and worst performances. Clear PK missed imo, don't understand how this is justifiable.

Clip got deleted, if someone have it.
DeleteBodes well. He has the most lucrative game in football next week. Championship Playoff Final.
DeleteWhich minute was the possible penalty in Gillett game? Clip deleted.
Delete"Worst and worst performances" is extreme because I didn't see much wrong in Gillett's game. As it for handball incidents when the bar gets highest so as the penalty incidents in the premier league.
DeleteBy your judgement I guess 1/2 pens were missed yesterday at the FA cup final.
Incident at 11'
Delete@Tevinjm PK missed today for this handball incident imo (not backed up by VAR tbh) and clear PK missed last week-end in 2 big games for the relegation, that is not a good end imo.
DeletePotential RC ? (Sorry for the quality)
ReplyDeletehttps://x.com/jjiszatt/status/2056070262769037401
Would be interesting to hear when the whistle was blown. Basically it's assessed like this nowadays: if the player is kicked in the head it's a RC but otherwise rather most referees would be OK with a YC.
DeleteI see that in recent times many videos on X are deleted, by fare more than before. Can you give a reference about this incident
DeleteIt's 2 kicks on a body player when he is on the ground at 57-58'
Deletepictures of it :

Very strange incident in Levante/Mallorca. Double red card after VAR review. Mallorca player tugs the Levante players hair while he's on the ground and the Levante player reacts with a hand to the face. Both sent off....
ReplyDeletehttps://streamain.com/en/0RpojZ9hY8CUvo7/watch
DeleteIn the end, by book, fully correct decision.
However, all, absolutely all, was created by Mallorca player.
At first starting with the hair, then the reaction by Levante player and the simulation by him (but contact existed, so once seen at VAR...).
These are Actors Studio scenes..
Ot: Big confusion involving Brazilian refereeing again. Neymar had left the field to receive medical attention, and the fourth official and the person adjusting the board assumed he was going to be substituted, so they raised the board with his number. However, the paper given to the person adjusting the board said it was number 31 and not number 10 (Neymar), even with this error Neymar could not continue on the field.
ReplyDeletehttps://x.com/i/status/2056068516491755665
Any normal referee would just look at the paper, apologise, then ask 31 to leave the field of play and allow Neymar to re-enter. Not even difficult to fix.
DeleteNormal refs yes. But not the Brazilian refs
DeleteBoth reported incidents from Gillett's game:
ReplyDelete10' PAI handball; I don't know how it's not a handball...
https://streamff.link/v/61bc4cdc
58' Possible VC
https://streamff.link/v/2ec75209
Agree clear PK missed and for the VC i don't know if a RC is the best option but that's probably not the wrong call and VAR will have stay silent imo.
DeleteProbably mitigated by the fact he's using his arm to jostle with the defender
DeleteClear penalty for handball. Movement by arm to ball.
DeleteI think VAR was deceived by the fact that arm was not fully open.
In England they have very big torubles with handballs.
Once again, if they keep such an approach, tey can justify all handballs, always for different reasons.
But they dom't want to accept that the solution is to be consistent and then to whistle handballs like this.
At the end of this season we can say whatever we want about the fact that they are more under the light than other league but this season English refs and PGMOL had been terrible in PL. No consistency at all, inventing new rules for handball with this by calling them ´‘accidental’´, letting every team pushing and grabbing everyone on set pieces, and big problem with VAR on when to call or not for OFR. They probably need to change a lot of things because all the clubs are starting to call out Webb and I will not be surprised if something happens if there is not a big change for next season.
DeleteBy the way, I think this is where the likes of the French Ligue 1 survives every weekend, nobody cares nobody watches the matches at the end of the day French officials are always clean only to be judged internationally yet it is the exact opposite for the premier league, well exposed fully in spotlight all around the world. Everything broadline
ReplyDelete...... Everything 50/50 is making headlines rather controversy IMO PGMOL is doing a great job to deal with 3 billion fans every weekend which other leagues can't even survive
DeleteProbably right but we can say that for every other league. And i agree french refs in Ligue 1 are mid but Turpin and Letexier have already showed their level in international competition. There is a clear difference of level when they are in their national league or in UEFA/FIFA competition, we can probably say the same for others nations.
DeleteFollowing Philipp predictions, I’d like to share my feelings:
ReplyDeleteMEX/RSA - Wilton Sampaio (BRA)

ENG/CRO - Espen Eskas (NOR)
GHA/PAN - Felix Zwayer (GER)
I also did for MD2 and MD3 because I was really bored :)
I’ve seen Letexier mentioned a few times for Brazil–Morocco, but I wonder if that would be the most sensible appointment. IIRC some Moroccan players speak French, and were born and raised in France as well. Since Brazil is such a major football nation, I’d imagine FIFA would rather avoid even the slightest discussion about neutrality and simply go with, for example, an English referee instead.
DeleteThat said, I don’t think language is automatically a problem in every case. Personally, I’d have no issue with Ghorbal doing something like Qatar–Switzerland. But the higher the stakes become, the more careful I think appointments should be in that regard. Mateu Lahoz in Argentina–Netherlands is a good example for me. In hindsight, that was a poor choice: a very talkative referee constantly communicating in Spanish with Argentinian players - even if he is impartial, I can understand why the other side might not perceive it that way.
"Are referees from Europe not allowed to officiate a World Cup match between a European team and a team from another continent
Delete@HB2300: UEFA referees are of course also allowed to officiate games between European and non-European teams. At the 2022 World Cup, for example, all (!) of Argentina's matches were officiated by UEFA referees, including those against Poland (Makkelie), the Netherlands (Mateu Lahoz), Croatia (Orsato), and France (Marciniak). However, usually - especially in the group stage - most games are assigned with continental neutrality. FIFA, for example, does not make a particular effort to assign all purely non-European matches to UEFA referees first, but often nominates UEFA referees for European derbies, while purely non-European games also go to other referees. This usually correlates strongly with the teams involved: ARG-MEX, for instance, would practically be almost certainly assigned to a UEFA referee, while a low-profile CONCACAF-CAF match could also go to a less experienced AFC referee instead of a UEFA referee.
DeleteMario Escobar is the referee for Kuwaiti Cup final today.
ReplyDeleteRC issued for DOGSO, very good decision:
Deletehttps://youtu.be/T6HNr6sCZzE?t=2837
I don't think this game was the best for Escobar's style (he struggled to find a good opening card, which ended up being the above red, and he didn't really enter much verbal communication with players) but overall his performance was fine.
Steven McLean has been appointed as the referee for the Scottish cup final this Saturday.
ReplyDelete10 years on its a very well deserved appointment. The big surprise is MacDermid on Var. I also believe its the frist time in over 15 years that the Final wont be refereed by a Fifa listed official.
DeleteBig surprise for me is Euan Anderson as fourth official, I suspect that may well be a farewell present.

An absolutely ludicrous decision not to send off Havertz in Arsenal v Burnley. Understandable to miss on field but needed to be given by VAR
ReplyDeleteWhat a ridiculous and disgraceful decision to not send Havertz off.
ReplyDeleteThis was one of the all time blunders of the season, and now conspiracy theories will continue.
SFP crystal clear and now even VAR check from Tierney...
I will never be into conspiracy bcose ref always want to take the best decision but with arsenal this year it’s more of a mental thing, grey decisions are always in their favor, clear example here. I don’t know why maybe fear of having an impact on the league title but this is just starting to be ridiculous for English referees imo.
DeleteProbably can say the same thing with Manchester city
DeleteLunging tackle from behind. Not even close to the ball. Studs used. This is violent conduct.
DeleteVC or SFP,he choose nothing, only YC.
DeleteThe worst is that ref even hesitated to give YC
https://streamff.com/v/4857b0ed
Delete@M no the worst is VAR staying silent as usual in premier league which is a shame
DeleteYep,for sure, just saying that even ref issued YC after seeing severity of tackle.
DeleteAgree with crn.ple on Manchester City
DeleteAt this point, given how much clear is this red card, I'm sorry to say, but one can only think they do that on purpose, there can't be such a low level of officiating!
DeleteBaffling decision. Referees are clearly worried to affect the title race too much, it's the only explanation.
DeleteWhat @MQ said is very true.
DeleteFear of costing someone title is costing refs in some of their performances.
We had Tierney yesterday, then we had Attwell and RC to Silva for his actions.
Then there was whole West Ham-Arsenal controversial VAR moment,Everton -City and no penalty call for Everton with Oliver.
List goes on and on but reality is that nothing will be done cause they have fun and title deciding season.
Something seemed to happen between meler and kol in turkey
ReplyDeleteBig big changes needed in England imo, VAR has never work like it did in other leagues, always having their ''own rules'' which is terrible and we saw it this season with CK especially. Main referees who are not at the level needed for this competition imo.
ReplyDeleteGood that they have 2 good referees on international competition (even with Taylor bad recent performances). At the end big shake up is needed and i'm sure that multiple PL clubs will talk about this for next season.
Germany: Promotion/Relegation Playoffs:
ReplyDeleteBundesliga/2.Bundesliga: VfL Wolfsburg - SC Paderborn: Benjamin Brand - Stein, Achmüller - Gansloweit - Müller, Sinn
2.Bundesliga/3.Liga: Rot Weiß Essen - Greuter Fürth: Daniel Schlager - Foltyn, Fritsch - Bickel - Winter, Blos
Arsenal win the league which will affect the appointments for the weekend. PGMOL haven't released them yet because of the games tonight.
ReplyDeleteOliver and Taylor get the games at Spurs and West Ham which will decide relegation. Kavanagh, Craig Pawson and Sam Barrott get the important games in the race for the final European positions, one for the future Farai Hallam gets the Arsenal game, he should be joining SG1 next season and id bet money on him being on UEFAs radar in the near future
DeleteYeah him and Kirk seem likely to be in the PL next season.
DeleteMore dross being served up by Attwell in Tottenham v Chelsea. Really poor control of this match and whilst there's been no major controversies, he has not had a good evening at the office. Far too passive and reactive. Possible penalty for Tottenham not given as VAR states the holding offence occured when the ball wasn't in play for me I would like another look at it.
ReplyDeleteVery poor management once again, giving every little contact as a foul not a lot of consistency with YC during the game, clear RC missed imo on Delap with a clear elbow in the head without trying to play the ball. For the PK situation from the GLT angle we saw i think the goal is good even if it's very close, will probably need a look to a stopped picture of that incident. Once again poor game by a FIFA ref tonight in england.
DeleteFrom the 70th minute onwards it did not resemble a refereeing performance in all honesty. Was very poor indeed.
DeleteContrast to Anthony Taylor who delivered an excellent performance in Bournemouth v Manchester City.
Has the EFL Playoffs Final referee been announced?
ReplyDeleteJarred Gillett will referee the match for the championship playoff final.

Also worth noting that James Bell is VAR for the L2 final who was VAR for Arsenal/Burnley. Not sure if the appointment was made before that game though.

ReplyDelete50 years is the age limit, he has no problems in being on the top of the domestic ranking because he gets always high marks regardless of how he officiates, so he is allowed to continue, he will turn 50 on December 2027.
