DeleteNo, he hasn't, but it's not necessary that both AR's are on the FIFA list for Nations League game.
DeleteMost of the PL assistants who aren't on the FIFA list are likely too old to join so it makes sense that a few AR's like Alex James and Blake Antrobus are getting appointments despite being pretty new to the PL. Also a few FIFA Ar's are unavaliable at the moment.

Interesting, that this time no bigger names are used in league D, if we compare it to the last edition.
Already 5 German referee teams on 4 days, leading to the first double appointment with Pascal Müller.
It was notable in the latter half of last season that Walsh was kept away from "hotter" games which some of the nee elite referees were getting. They might be looking to see how he does with that while keeping it as a lower profile game

DeleteStarting with Munuera Montero, he only officiated a single Conference League match last season and one Conference League qualifier this season.
ReplyDeleteBut as I noted with Gillet, this shouldn't rule him out from refereeing international fixtures, or even Champions League and Europa League games.

Next up is Alberola Rojas, who has a highly competitive match ahead in my book.
I'm really pleased to see him consistently getting UEFA appointments, as I firmly believe he's the top Spanish referee right now.
Lastly, Michael Oliver—not just this season's top English referee, but one of the best overall. He’s got the toughest fixture on September 28th, but I fully trust he is more than up to the task.
As for the grievances over Taylor, or the 'ghosts' haunting the minds of certain pundits, they honestly don't even warrant a reply.
Munuera Montero is one of the best in La Liga at the moment but due to his age I'm not sure UEFA will push him too much.

ReplyDeleteA routine appointment for a referee who, at international level, has yet to make the breakthrough expected of him. The strength and depth of Spanish refereeing, with so many officials ahead of him in the pecking order, has certainly not helped his cause.
Ocenas
Ocenas continues to make steady progress and take important steps in establishing himself on the international scene. He is clearly one for the future. The question now is how he will handle the increased exposure and expectations that come with bigger appointments.
He has shown a great deal of humility so far, and if he can maintain the level of performance he has produced, there is every reason to believe that further opportunities will come his way.
Aliyar Aghayev
A solid appointment for a referee who has been steadily making his mark at international level. Aghayev has produced a number of very good performances, and the committee has responded by continuing to trust him with consecutive appointments.
The Azerbaijani official can certainly have ambitions of moving further up the ladder in the future. The path he is currently following is a strong and consistent one.
Godinho
Godinho continues to enjoy the confidence of the committee, with regular appointments across a wide range of competitions. I see him as a genuine candidate to challenge for a place in the elite group and potentially give Portugal two referees at the very top level once again.
His performances have shown quality, authority and clear progression. That development is also being recognised by the committee through his appointments and by the observers through their assessments.
Alberto Rojas
Rojas is clearly on the path towards the elite. The only question is when that promotion will come. Given the current situation with Spanish referees, and the limited room for movement before the next European Championship, it may simply be a matter of timing.
At the moment, he is one of the leading Spanish referees and is showing the qualities and consistency required to reach the highest level.
De Burgos
This looks set to be an intense game and one that could demand a great deal from the Spanish referee. For De Burgos, the immediate objective remains consolidating his position in the top category, but his continued selection also shows that he retains the confidence of the committee.
Rade Obrenović
Obrenović continues to receive appointments for high-profile and demanding matches, so the question is whether he can consistently justify that level of trust and establish himself as a genuine elite referee.
For me, he remains some way below Vincic in terms of overall level. He undoubtedly benefits from coming from a federation with a strong presence at the top of European refereeing, but performances on the field are ultimately what matter, and so far I have not seen enough from him to place him on the same level as the very best.
Oliver
The number one — currently the standout referee on the international scene — faces another potentially heated encounter, with everything pointing towards a match full of challenges and key incidents.
His personality, combined with his technical quality and ability to manage difficult situations, makes him the reference point among UEFA referees at the moment.

Situation about refereeing in Romania it's very hard to understand, honestly.
Does anyone know what happened with Szymon Marciniak? The referee observers for the three UEFA matches he has officiated this season have been Frank De Bleeckere (LASK vs. Celtic), Herbert Fandel (FC Porto vs. Manchester City), and Viktor Kassai (Serbia vs. Netherlands).

I think only de Bleeckere is in some way out of the normal context. He often observes young talents. Fandel and Kassai haven't such a special status or are very important observers.

ReplyDeleteLetexier let the game flow as much as he could, demonstrating a very good refereeing performance. The first free-kick was given after 15'22'' minutes. Only one "clear and obvious" mistake - didn't award a free-kick to Norway after a foul (holding) commited by a Portugese player on the Norwegian Ryerson (after 33 minutes) who had been shown a yellow card earlier in the game for the 15'22'' foul on a Potugese player.
ReplyDeleteThe second half was, almost from its beginning, much more heated than the first one. It was more difficult to let flow, sometimes missing some niggling fouls, and once missing an opportunity to use the advantage rule when Portugal had a lot of space in midfield, but the whistle went for an infringement by the Norwegian Ajer (65') who also correctly received a yellow card. AR2, Rahmouni, didn't see the Portugese being in an offside position before he scored a third goal (59') which was deleted by VAR. It was really difficult for an AR to detect, although three players were offside when the ball was sent towards them. Before the incident they tried to run backwards to avoid being caught offside. However, when the ball was kicked from deep inside the Portugese half, one of them was about "two byke lengths" offside, the other one was pretty much offside, but the third one, who in the end touched the ball and scored (Ramos), was just a fraction offside, and with all the movement of players back and forth, it is very difficult for an AR, who is also on the move, to be in the exact position to detect the situation correctly.

Arguments for the first incident:
ball played before?
attacker going against defender?
However, it resulted in a step on foot.
McLean didn't think it was worthy of an OFR.
I'm not sure Walsh exactly saw what had happened there.
Penalty given is a really good decision.
DeleteWith the first incident, I think a certain degree of consideration needs to be given to the ball being played first. Unless the follow through is especially dangerous or reckless (like a high contact or contact on the ankle) then the ball being played first is enough to support no penalty here
For Austria's penalty claim, I feel it's down to the referee—not a VAR reviewable play.

As for Kosovo's penalty, I think both the foul and the handball count as infractions, so it's a penalty.
Letexier or Siebert?
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong,all cards were correct it's just the fact that we didn't see this by the book Letexier for a long time.
Letexier had a stinker in Oslo when it comes to the disciplinary side of things... Extremely inconsistent, at least 2 clear YC not shown, and Bernardo Silva escaped a clear RC. Both him and the VAR share the blame for that clear mistake.

DeleteVAR is just extremely inconsistent... never know what to expect.... its a total difference iff you have a VAR from Italy, either you have a VAR from England or a German, none off them seems to have the same LAWS, and interpretations, because there are a lot of grey areas.
DeleteI’m from Germany and perhaps a bit biased, but for me, the German VAR officials are the most consistent. The English hardly ever intervene, whereas the Italians step in over every little thing
DeleteJust watched something about Letexier, I think some comments are exaggerated here. Possible RC for Bernardo Silvia in 90'+4, yes, but Letexier decided to manage it according to "modern refereeing".

DeleteAs is his custom, he preferred to let the game flow, staying very close to the action at all times, carefully timing his interventions—including verbal (and non-verbal as well) warnings —to coincide with key moments of the match, and making no significant errors at all.
I share Chefren’s opinion: IMO a very very good performance.
100% agreed with @ITAREF! This was truly a vintage Letexier performance. Grace, class, elegance - simply put: perfection.

Besides I would like to inform you that I started refereeing in the Italian AIA in 1979. I refereed in the Italian National Leagues for 7 years, and since 2007 I have been (and I currently an) a Referee Observer in a National League.
To be honest, I believe I have enough experience and judgment to evaluate a performance.
Including Letexier one.
Sorry, but since Anthony Taylor is the head of Turkish referees, Halil Umut Meler shouldn't have been assigned to the England match.

ReplyDeleteDe Burgos had lost the control in Belfast. Poor performance by both teams. Mass confrontation at half time. IMO very poor refereeing performane in first half.

DeleteSr. Alberola Rojas is a perfect example of a (young) referee whose movement on the field alters between walking and jogging. No real pace and certainly no sprints. He relies on experience, good will of players and good rapport with them. He had a wonderful Copa del Rey Final last season and is well respected in Spain. Tonight he delivered an o.k. performance which included some question marks. A very good call in the 19th minute, when Svensson barged into Puchacz and sent his arm to his opponent's face (free-kick to Poland and a yellow card towards the Swede). However, he missed a similar incident in the 25th minute when Cash (Poland) treated Gudmundsson in the same vein. There was also a faulty foul detection (45+1') as the culprit (Zalewski, tugging Bergvall's shirt) threw himself to the ground and got a free-kick his way. And the referee's laid-back approach was visible in the 58th minute as he went leisurely, brandishing the yellow card towards Zielinski from afar.
