    3’ Good no penalty call for clean challenge by RAN player
    4’ Correct YC for RAN #37 for SPA good awareness as not to recognise DOGSO as attacker was wide. Then good YC to RAN manager and CEL coach for inappropriate conduct to fourth official and towards each other.
    6’ Excellent delayed offside flag by AR1 to disallow goal for CEL
    16’ Missed foul and missed 2YC to RAN #37 for knee on knee contact, was SPA which would have been 2YC to player.
    41’ good reversal of throwing following delay by RAN player

      Second Half:
      46’ incorrect offside by AR2, deliberate play by RAN player.
      56’ Good advantage to allow CEL attack and then in separate play immediately after, correct YC for RAN #10 for trip/SPA
      73’ Correct YC for CEL #42 for reckless.
      75’ Missed handball on field immediately leading to goal for RAN, correct overrule by VAR to disallow. Correct YC to CEL #17 for dissent immediately after goal given initially.

      Very interesting to watch the handball incident, player trying a shot on goal, then ball coming back and handball committed, a referee would be focused on a possible handball by defender, but he can't absolutely expect one by attacker, in the live sequence it happens so quick that it's almost impossible to notice.

    Correct penalty given on field but wrong to show yellow instead of red. Guess Ortiz Arias thought Courtois was going to collect the ball before Simeone but clearly was a DOGSO.

      Yep,two VAR intervetions,missed RC to Lee,plenty controversies that will be discussed afzer the match.

      If that's top performance than Spanish refereeing is having low standards for top performances.

    Definitely not a good performance, poor in the crucial incidents, then Mouringo it's Mourinho but in my opinion this "new name" has not worked at all in Madrid's derby.

    OT:

    I was wondering, watching Romero’s and Bellingham’s almost simultaneous tackles (IMO Romero’s came a little bit earlier), how would you guys, in the confines of LOTG approach the situation, if both the tackles actually simultaneously.

    I am aware of the wording in the part 5.3, which states the following:

    [t]he referee:

    punishes the more serious offence, in terms of sanction, restart, physical severity and tactical impact, when more than one offence occurs at the same time.

    I am also aware of one Q&A case from IFAB, in which they were solving a situation, in which two players strike each other immediately in one’s penalty area. This situation apparently results in penalty kick, because the restart is more serious.

    In the light of the above, I have two questions:

    1. How would you solve the above mentioned situation?
    2. By which part of the LOTG all the referees, which, in the case of mutual holding let the game flow? Because, by the wording in 5.3, SPA would be more serious in terms of tactics I guess, so YC and DFK for the attacking team would be by the law, but IMO not for the spirit of the game, and me, personally, I incline more for letting the game flow.

    I may be missing some part of LOTG, but would appreciate yours opinion.

    Mourinho was eventually going to crack but, having watched a lot of Spanish games this season, far too many big decisions have gone against Real Madrid and nobody can deny this. One thing with Spanish referees is that there is absolutely 0 consistency it’s actually shocking. However there isn’t corruption it’s just human error so Madrid shouldn’t claim it’s anything do with corruption as that damages the referee’s image in general all across the country. Something needs sorted out and fast.

      Another thing is that when a manager with Jose Mourinho fame comes out and publicly names referees that is a very dangerous and unwise thing to do. This puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on the referee and nobody knows what people’s personal mental health situation is like. Managers need to act with more prudence and empathy.

      I agree with the second part of your arguments.
      As for the first part, the fact that there may have been mistakes against Real Madrid in other matches as well is a coincidence, just as there have been mistakes against other teams and others in favor of Real Madrid, and that is where we must always start for a fair analysis.
      They should understand that there is no conspiracy and that they are simply mistakes due to the standard of refereeing, but unfortunately, fans refuse to accept this, making the situation increasingly toxic.
      Personally, I believe that in Spain they are picking up the pieces after a terrible period, one I couldn't have imagined dropping to such a low refereeing standard, at least until a few years ago. Everything seems to have started with the retirement of Antonio Mateu Lahoz, not that he was necessarily a world class referee , but it was thought the others could compete for top spot.
      Following that, the total decline of Jesús Gil Manzano began. Then they tried to promote José María Sánchez Martínez, but the responses were overly negative, and also the "Canary Islands man" as I usually call him, on multiple occasions, certainly didn't demonstrate an elite level, despite having gone to the World Cup, which, with hindsight and given what happened, is very much up for debate.
      Now they are clearly trying to build new names, but it is extremely complex.
      In a football culture where there are many cards and penalties, as you wrote, the feeling is that there are no well defined refereeing criteria, and anything can happen during matches, much more so than in the Italian context, at least from what I can observe, which is certainly a major management issue.
      About Italy, just to say it in short, Daniele Orsato is trying to introduce a new era, but this would never work in Spain, 100% impossible.
      In my opinion, given his recent international refereeing performances, the only future name, the only Spanish prospect at the moment, really seems to be Javier Alberola Rojas.
      If he simply maintains these standards, he easily sets himself apart from all his fellow countrymen. However, everything else remains to be seen, because a great football nation and a great refereeing school like Spain can't collapse like this.
      A final word on the issue, I think that too often weak referees in recent times got crucial assignments and they were absolutely overrated, this was the result of such management. However, of course there would be more to say...

      What we saw today is example where ref was not ready for today's match yet some are saying that he was great choice.

      I would add that, for me, the fact that for the first time there was a referee from Madrid in this match is irrelevant. Highlighting this as news is a non-story in terms of substance, but rather something that concerns form: these are secondary aspects.
      Right now, they need to focus on the end product.
      In fact, in certain regards, knowing that the referee was from Madrid, given today performance, is even worse in the eyes of the fans.
