In case of inside / outside referee shouldn't rewatch the incident. VAR takes the final decision, I think in this case it was not 100% clear so Geiger supported Marrufo.

ReplyDeleteVery good begin by Marrufo. Clesr warnings, good authority and the PK. Hope he stays in that level.
PK decision was reviewed by VARs. They have more perspectives and one of the later shown replays in TV showed it crystalclear: Inside!
DeleteIMO i can understand to not call an OFR. Im pretty sure 3 VARs can easily decide if it is on the line or outside.

ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean. Sure that is right. Even our eyes mislead us in judgement sometimes when it is a wrong perspective. But here it is clear now. No doubt.

DeleteAlso correct goal allowed for Tunisia. My match featured computer lines. Onside by 3-4". Great "no offside" by AR despite several changes in position of players prior to kick.

ReplyDeleteGood first half by Marrufo. Correct YC he could have perhaps avoided if he gave the initial foul IMHO though.
ReplyDeleteWas there honestly enough there for a foul. Very minor contact; opponent acted like he had his eye gouged out.
DeleteCorrect penalty, correct on-side decisions on goals 3 & 4 and very good performance overall from Marrufo and his team so far.

ReplyDeleteAR2 with 2-3 very good decisions in 2nd half. Maybe he didn't follow the procedure, because he raised his flag immediately and the situations were close and in case of onside the goal won't be confirmed, but they were all correct.

ReplyDeleteBelieve Marrufo did a good job overall and also realize that the PK decision is the more attractive discussion for us refs. But didnt Marrufo miss calling the more "basic" IDFK against Tunisia later in the game? Belgium player beats Tunisia GK and plays ball softly towards open goal only to have a Tunisian defender run back and "deliberately" clear ball from goal line directly into the hands of his own GK who then picked ball up and then released ball up the field. Wasnt this a deliberate play back to GK which would result in an IDFK for Belgium well inside Tunisia's PA?
ReplyDeleteWell done to Marrufo after a lot of people on here said he wasn't good enough before the game. People might say the second half was easy but I believe it was his hard work, good communication and excellent decisions in the first half that made the second half easy.
