  1. Handball on the line detected by VAR in coppa Italia semifinal Cremonese - Fiorentina, I'm sure many people will disagree...

    1. Why disagree, the arm is making the body larger, no natural movement, no unexpected ball to hand... PK absolutely correct...

  2. A hot night yesterday in Rotterdam for Lindhout in his first "dutch clasico". Had to stop play after just 20sec because of mass fireworks and black smoke. In the 2nd half he had to stop play for 15min after Ajax player Klaassen got hit on his head by a lighter thrown from the home public (no away fans allowed in this match). After the match was resumed Klaassen had to be substituted after 5 mins.

With refereeing glasses on. Lindhout can be proud of himself and his team. Had al the key match moments right, card management was good. I think there were one or two moments where one could give a YC for SPA. Foul on the midfield. But that would be a very strict line. Acceptance by players was there for my feeling all the time.

One mass confrontation started. This was more an open bill between the captains of FEY and AJA that had to be settled than it was because of Lindhout's decisions.

Wondering what other dutch readers opinions are.

  5. Surprised to see no comments about El Clasico, so I will start.

Munuera did good job,all his crucial decisions were correct imo.

Rejected penalty in first minutes is correct, where should Alaba put his hands?
    To cut them off?
If this was WC,then that would be penalty as we saw with Portugal and Uruguay, but this is nkt WC.

2nd crucial decision was penalty on Vini ,correct,Kessie stepped on his foot, maybe there YC was missed but ok.

About management,it was okayish,he had match control,in 1st half he was consistent with fouls and he rejected some of them.

In 2nd half less,he tred to much to let the game go and missed some blatant fouls.

His great management and great decision was to book both Gavi and Vini in 26.min.

That way both of them calmed down and were not ready to risk another conflict to see 2nd yellow.

Other bookings also were correct,Roberto spa,Gavi and Vini mentioned,Garcia reckless,Carvajal spa,Ferran reckless,Araujo,Alaba,Balde unsporting behaviour,Militao spa and Fati spa.

Barca fans will be mad about no penalty call, but it was correct decision.

    1. I made a short report in the previous thread ;)

But I don't understand what you mean about the handball situation in 3'. It's not a PK and it wasn't a penalty in the WC either, Faghani was one of the main contenders for the final before the tournament and he was literally rejected and sent home by FIFA for giving that PK in PORURU.

  7. Unbelievable situations at referee appointments with the Greek play-offs
Today the Hellenic federation firtsly announced that Orel Grinfeeld have appointed to manage the greek clasico between Panathinaiko Athens-Olympiacos Piraeus. A few moments later Grinfeeld declares injury and then be appointed Fran Jovic from Croatia. After big protests for both teams the hellenic federation declares that Jovic refused to come to manage the match and finally the referee will manage the match will be Del Cerro Grande (maybe!!)
    Unbelievable!

    1. That's crazy, Del Cerro handled the Copa del Rey SF 2nd leg Athletic-Osasuna on Tuesday, and tomorrow he's VAR in LaLiga game Celta-Sevilla.

Apparently Grinfeld refused because he was appointed for a crucial promotion game in 2nd division on Monday, also a derby (Maccabi Petah Tikva vs Hapoel Petah Tikva, 1st & 2nd in the standings separated by just 2 points) & Jovic later 'withdrew' because of injury.

  9. Only five minutes added time, despite an injury lasting over three and numerous substitution windows, then a goal in additional time and final whistle bang on the five minutes. Either this is being treated as a glorified friendly or Uefa's instructions are clear and different to others. Odd to see an international with nothing added on for a goal after the recent world cup :-D

  10. Fairly easy game for Frappart, two teams both focussed on playing football. Good offside by AR1 to disallow a goal 29'.
39' 82' 2YCs for reckless challenges, both probably reckless-lite/strong careless, I'm sure many officials would have just had a word, I'm unconvinced either warrented a yellow live, although both accepted by players.
Overall, no real issues and a good game of football

  12. It seems U17 EURO referees have been selected. According to Bulgarian FA, Radoslav Gidzhenov will be one of four fourth officials (remaining three are from BEL, FIN and SCO). Moreover, Kristina Georgieva will be among six referees for Women's U17 EURO.

96' (at 1-1) Scandalous decision and disallowed a clear goal for home team. Ref and AR2 originally showed it was a goal but then overturned it.

    Milan-Napoli: Gil Manzano/Makkelie

  18. Tottenham - Brighton

70' Hojbjerg challenge on Mitoma after Brighton corner. I can't understand how this is not deemed as a penalty by Attwell/Salisbury.

Maybe somebody can provide a video.

Both managers also sent off in this game for a brawl in the technical area.

  20. I'd love to know peoples thoughts on the situation in the EPL happening at the minute with Michael Oliver. Today, he refereed Man U - Everton, the early kick off on TV. Usually a standard appointment for him.

However, Oliver is a Newcastle fan, who are now in direct competition with Man U in the top 4 race. Current table:
    3. Newcastle (Played 29, Pts 56, GD +27)
    4. Man U (Played 29, Pts 56, GD +7)

There's been a few posts on social media of Oliver in his Newcastle kit, essentially saying he should not be given Man U games at the minute.

Of course, I'm not for a second questioning Oliver's integrity, we all know what a fantastic referee he is. But surely it's just better for PGMOL to keep him away from this, to avoid any potential criticism of conflicting interests?

    2. It would probably be better to avoid such appointments at this stage of the season, however it seems like it wasn't a problem this time as Manchester United completely dominated the game (I did not see the match btw)

      Delete
    3. In my opinion, it would be enough to avoid such appointments on the last one or two matchdays, i.e. in the very decisive phase of the season, where it is actually clear, that there is a direct influence on the other team.

  21. Quite challenging 1sta half for Di Bello in Lazio vs Juve.

With his lenient approach,he allowed imo too much and 2 goals that were controversial, especially Lazio's goal where he did not whistle foul.

    ReplyDelete
  22. And watching Real vs Villareal, sorry but Rojas is THE WORST REF,yes,THE WORST REF in terms of giving fouls and bookings.

What he misses intentionally or unintentionally is beyond me,1st half in this match is his typical.

Atleast 3 YC's,potential RC and 5-6 clear fouls missed.

I dont know why he is being pushed and being given top matches, maybe cause he is young, but imo,THE WORST REF currently, yes these words needed to be used by me and I apologize, but I cant watch his performance without criticizing him.

    1. But he will somehow be the fans' favourite referee because he has the «Premier League style», no matter if he doesn't even give a FK in Tchouaemi incident in 44' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    2. And penalty whistled was cherry on top.

      Delete
    3. What can I say?

THE WORST,he even surpassed Inaki in terms of leniency.

    4. I agree, one of the worst performances I've seen this season (overall, not just him).
