FIFA to take over from IFAB in running of VAR Implementation

FIFA has taken over from IFAB in leading the implementation of the Video Assistant Refereeing project, effective as of 1st July 2020.

UEFA VAR Training Course

Law 5 Blog can report that selected referees from nations not using VAR in their domestic competitions will be able to handle UEFA games with the technology in place from 2020-21 season.

Third UEFA Course for Video Assistant Referees Second Group (Istanbul, Turkey, 20 - 23 November 2018)

The process of introducing VAR in UEFA competitions has been accelerated in order to try to ensure the use of technology starting from KO stage of 2018-19 UEFA Champions League edition. Several seminars are taking place in these weeks. Thank to Turkish federation, we have some info about a course.

A lesson we learned from CL MD4: VAR is now necessary

In Netherlands the first steps for VAR to be used in Champions League (8 - 11 October 2018)

Thank to Dutch and Turkish federations, we can gather info about the first VAR seminar for UEFA referees who are about to test the system and apply it for the first time ever in UEFA competitions, starting from next season's CL edition.

OFFICIAL: IFAB has approved Video Assistant Referee to be used on a permanent basis.

HISTORIC DECISION: The IFAB`s General Assembly has just approved Video Assistant Referees to be used on a permanent basis. The VAR system has been trialled over the past two years in almost 1,000 football matches.
