    1. Joey Kooij has been out of the Dutch competitions in recent weeks, due to an injury. UEFA Youth League final seems unlikely.

  2. Any updates on these matches?

    1. Schüttengruber correctly ruled out an Olympiakos goal for handball just before halftime (clip: streambug.io/cv/bf6bfc). Good/diffusing explanation by Ciochirca after the whistle went for HT, but the Austrian ref restarted the game with the players still in flux, and indeed to this ends you can hear his whistle for restarting play happens after the defensive freekick had already been executed.

    2. Typical VAR intervention, with a few chnces for referee to spot it live (extremely difficult if not impossible). While more attention was definitely needed at the resume of the game, with ball already kicked, I liked the explanations after half time as well.

  3. Last year, the finals were refereed by Manfredas Lukjančukas, Rohit Saggi and Willy Delajod. Lukjančukas made his debut in the Champions League this season but nothing more this spring. Saggi handled three matches in the group stage of the Europa League but also no further game this spring. And final referee Delajod only officiated a single game in the Europa League but also nothing at all this spring. None of these three actually made the big breakthrough. Particularly astonishing to me: None of them was even considered for a round of 32 match in the Conference League.

  4. Désirée Grundbacher will have her debut in Super League in Switzerland tomorrow. The game is between Yverdon Sport - Stade LS Ouchy.

Do you think that she will be pushed to replace Esther Staubli in UEFA/FIFA?

    1. Could Brooks be getting promoted to 1st group ?

    2. I would say he is the stand out of the group of developing officials in England, certainly in terms of domestic and European appointments. It wouldn't surprise me if that came sooner rather than later

    3. Brooks is already a select group 1 referee has been since 2021

    4. @wwjd: Neil meant UEFA Category 1, not the national system.
At moment he is UEFA Cat. 2

    5. I think there is a plan for Brooks to be Taylor's replacement on the Elite list, can see him getting back to back promotions this year and next

  7. Karaoglan whistled a correct penalty for handball, best positioning to spot it: https://streambug.org/cv/033f9d

    1. Correct penalty, but better to delay the whistle for a possible advantage.

    1. StArting from this season, as guideline, a shot on goal stopped by handball is not a mandatory YC anymore, unless very particular cases in which you can be sure ball about to enter the net.
