  1. Soares Dias !!! deserved appointment for him, excellent performance in Turin

  2. As it seems, Sidiropoulos's performance last Thursday in Belgium was satisfactory for the committee, getting a tough appointment.

  3. Kuiper is back in business. KNVB appoint him for the 2nd league game Go Ahead Eagles - Excelsior with Zeinstra en vanRoekel. Yesterday he passed the test in Geneve.

    1. Thank you so much, Mikaeal, great work!

    2. Gibraltar - Denmark: player is already on the ground when ball has still to be kicked, this is a significant mistake at this level, to be honest. Very early, too early whistle. Referee should have noticed that.

    3. Second penalty given by Lardot was a clean tackle as well, he was deceived by the Danish player's scream. Very disappointing performance.

    5. For sure a SFP in 90'+1 and in Champions League I think VAR interventions will be mandatory for such situations. Terrible challenge with a raised leg.

  8. Soares Dias decided by himself for the side of the coin for both teams (in this case two different colors) before the toss, I don't know if this is the exact procedure. I knew that referee should ask players.

    1. This isn't unusual at all. A number of referees take this option by selecting a side of the coin for the team. There was a good clip of Clattenburg doing this a couple of UEFA Euros ago that was used in their RAP release.

      There's no requirement to ask players, simply to flip a coin and have the winner make their selection as to end or (now) kickoff.

  9. While most of decisions were correct in the first half of SVNPOL, the lack of prevention is clearly visible taking into account the amount of fouls committed by Slovenians. Either card or only whistle - warnings for PI were needed.

  10. GER-NED All officials wearing GLT watches but as far as I know there isn't GLT in Euro Qualifiers.

  11. Has anyone seen the penalty for Germany? 1. Offside before penalty and for me never a handball or does anyone else see a penalty there?

  12. Completely incorrect penalty called: Germany vs Netherlands.
    1: Natural position.
    2: He doesn't even know where the ball is.

  13. What a horroble decision by Soares Dias!!
    This should be never a penalty, hand is in a natural position and absolutely no offence by De Jong.

    1. I dont understand. Why does UEFA ınsist these referee such as (Dias, Marciniak, Grinfeld, etc.)

  14. For me, penalty for gands against NED was incorrect.

  15. Indeed very unlucky for the Netherlands. But are the referees to blame? Offside extremely tight, incredibly hard to spot, you can only guess here as AR 2. Penalty wrong, but can you see where the defenders eyes are looking at and keep the ball and the two opponents in view? Unluyk, wrong, crucial mistake, but easy to understand why it happened as we're only humans.

  16. Karasyov - crucial mistake (incorrect disallowed goal);
    Soares Dias - crucial mistake (incorrect penalty).

  17. I do not understand how such a penalty became possible. This is an elite category, they conduct seminars, trainings and after that such an amazing decision. What after that other referees in different countries of the world should think.

  18. Soares Dias allowing game to resume before substitute Ake is in place. Embarrassing.

    Referee: Tasos Sidiropoulos (Greece)

    Overall a good performance by Tasos Sidiropoulos at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Foul detection was pretty good throughout the entire game, however we can discuss about four potential bookings missed in the first half (23’, 27’, 30’ and 42’) for reckless challenges/stamps. What I missed there was that in NONE of these situations, Sidiropoulos did not even verbally warn players (which was IMO necessary though at least).

    This was much improved in the second half: correct YC to SCO5 in 46’ for illegal use of arms, good choice to open the cards so early in the second half. All the other bookings were spot-on (55’: reckless challenge / 70’ + 70’: both SPA / 90’: delaying the restart of play). Minor issue concerning the card in 90’: Sidiropoulos should have whistled in order to restart the game, instead play continued and Sidiropoulos’ hasn’t even really put the card back in his pocket. ARs were not really challenged, both executed their duties on expected level: AR1 with a good offside flag in 54’ after a deflection.

    Personality-wise: as already mentioned, lack of verbal warnings in the first half. However, I noted that he didn’t have this - what I would call - “unmotivated” mimics that I noted often in some of his matches. In fact, he was caught smiling at the coin toss with players (sth which I haven’t seen before with him, I liked this). Sometimes, also a bit of prevention inside the penalty area on set pieces, so definitely a bit of improvement there.

    Overall I think it was a good night for the Greek refereeing team, something they needed concerning:
    a) a potential participation at EURO 2020;
    b) Sidiropoulos' status as an Elite Group referee.

  20. Embarrassing commentary from the english commentators on the Germany v Netherlands game. Complaining about the penalty given against the Netherlands and seemed bewildered that there was no VAR intervention. The reason VAR didn't get involved was BECAUSE THERE WAS NO VAR ON THE GAME! Utter morons. You'f think commentators of all people should get their facts straight.
