  1. Any UCL predictions for next week?

    I’d go with:
    - Bayern vs PSG: Oliver is a good shot as he’s only 4O this weekend. More curious would be the VAR assignment (Attwell not an option after he overruled Nyberg’s penalty?). The only alternative is Kovacs in the middle.
    - Liverpool vs Real: Turpin. He’s out this weekend as well. The French worked in UEL MD3 and was out in MD4, hence the game in Liverpool could be planned one for a longer time.

Inter vs Leipzig (observer: KUIPERS) and Monaco vs Benfica (observer: ROSETTI), do we expect debuts here?

Moreover, I predict at least 2 Spanish crews, Aston Villa vs Juventus seems suitable for a Spanish. I think Vincic will get a deserved rest ;-)

Surely we will see Italian crews — Massa the one to keep an eye on (was observed by Vassáras in his last game).
I’m curious to see Letexier’s management after his Conference League game. The French has a game in Auxerre next Sunday (17:00), so I don’t think we will see him in UCL.

On beforehand, Gozubuyuk was an expected name as he had same management as Turpin; UEL (MD3) and out (MD4), however based on the domestic appointment I’m more leaning towards Makkelie (hidden game behind the paywall and a FIFA ref as 4O with him), whereas Gozubuyuk has a regular game on the open ESPN-channel and a non-FIFA ref with him as 4O.

    1. So, whilst I agree with your comments in the main, I have a few differences and here's my (generally useless) predictions haha!
Sparta v Athletico: Mariani w Chiffi
Bratislava v Milan: Sanchez w Del Grande
Leverkusen v Salzburg: Kabakov w Delajod
      Y Boys v Atalanta: Kruzliak w Kwiatolski
Barcelona v Brest: Turpin w Millot (I originally had him for the Liverpool game but feel it may go to Marciniak)
Bayern v PSG: Gozubuyuk w Van Boekel (I actually think there are a few options with Oliver/Kovacs too)
Inter v Leipzig: Not debuts for me but seemingly Cat 1 ready for rubber stamp for promotion - So Pinhiero w Martins.
Man City v Feyenoord: Zwayer w Dingbert
Sporting v Arsenal: Manzano w Munuera
Zvezda v Stuttgard: Letexier w Millot
Graz v Girona: Saggi w Di Paolo
Monaco v Benfica: Petrescu w Popa
Villa v Juventus: Nyberg w Van Boekel
Bologna v Lille: Shrarer w Brand
Celtic v Brugge: Hernandez w Del Grande
Dinamo v Dortmund: Meler w Deiperink
Liverpool v Real: Marciniak w Kwiatolski
PSV v Shakthar: Osmers w Dingbert

    2. Yes, good remark about Inter vs Leipzig. Difficult to see a debut with an Italian team :) Agree that it should be a promotion. Pinheiro or Petrescu

    1. I also doubt that we will see Deiperink, Del Grande, Dingbert, Kwiatolski, Pinhiero and Shrarer (as well as some others).

    2. :-) @Chefren, what is your prediction in Monaco? (debut?)

      Delete
    3. Well, with Monaco in a very good position and Benfica fighting for a spot, as very experienced CL team, I must say the game at Louis II will be very interesting and before knowing that Rosetti was appointed, I wouldn't have guessed a possible debut. However, following the committee's management we can see for some teams (and Monaco surely among them, see as example Lindhout appointed for the game against Barcelona), we could indeed expect a referee at his first game in this stage of the competition, with the Italian head of UEFA refeereing observing him.
Having to make a prediction, I could think about Xhaja. A very good path in recent times, quite satysfiying performances (I watched all his recent games), EL GS debut one year ago, further two games this season. Good presentation for him, although it can be said that this game may perhaps be a bit too much for him (and here my doubts). Still about Albania, his countryman Enea Jorgji seems to have lost some credit by committee, less focus in recent times.
Having to mention another name if not the Albanian, one could say Damian Sylwestrzak. Maybe a bi too hurry and now there was also the Polish VAR big mistake in NL, but he is following a path. Two Conference League games one year ago and two Europa League appearances this season could maybe be enough, but in terms of experience he is Cat. 1 only since six months. So, less likely. Maybe if I'm lucky with predictions, it will be one of the two :)

    4. Oops My mistake ref Brest!!

    5. About Inter - Leipzig with Kuipers, I can hardly think about a debut here (Italian team). Rather, I can guess Kuipers will be there for a Category 1 who needs consolidation in Champions League. Some names, just to make the example of the target, could be: Balakin, Obrenovic, Petrescu.... could be a final test for Pinheiro as well, if they have still focus on him for Elite promotion, but I don't think a debut in Milan.

      Delete
    6. I think it could be Petrescu in Milano, because today he has a game with all his team. But is strange two send two romanian refs in Milano, two games in a row. Last time was Kovacs and now Petrescu. And for Kuipers will be the second romaian referee after he observed Fesnic in Bratislava. And Kovacs AR1 is in VAR room today, and AR2 had already a game last night.

      Delete
    7. Yes, good points, I think it’s avoidable to have two Romanians in Milan in a row. Perhaps Pinheiro with Inter; the Portuguese desperately need a replacement for Artur Dias. Petrescu appointed on Friday suggests that we will see him as well, but in another game.
I hope to see Xhaja in Monaco, but agree that it doesn’t have to be a debut, it can be a potential cat1 promotion (Petrescu).

      Liverpool-Real has to be Turpin.
Bayern-PSG could be Oliver or Kovacs. I don’t see Gözübüyük there; he’s rarely appointed to big clashes of any importance and he would be more hidden in his domestic league.

Keep an eye on Barcelona-Brest. I thought this game is actually a nice test for a referee considered for a UEFA final this season. Two teams within the top8 and therefore, the result is not a crucial one. Not the most risky game on paper, but still a “nice” testcase
