  1. If Rosetti was God, Vincic would have a primary place in the heaven, whatever he does 😄😄lol. Well I’m just jocking with full respect for everything and especially for religion, but the treatment of Vincic is really amazing. Real-Milan is a risky match but mainly a huge gratification and recognition. It’a also so evident how his management is changed: now he seems no more over protected having done CL final. Not over protected but over recognized. Bue he is good..

  2. No Attwell for the English referees, he is left out so far. It will be interesting to see how Guida and Pairetto will be treated, considering the handball call I still cannot believe...

Once again a top match for Vincic.

    1. You have already a signal about Pairetto, both Mariani and Chiffi have been called as VAR, but not him (I don't mention Di Paolo because he is VAR PRO, retired referee). I think Pairetto will not be called anymore.
In my opinion UEFA should have given information about this incident, at least releasing an official reason for the call, I know this doesn't happen, but I remember when VAR was introduced in Champions League for the first time, there were accurate statements about what was happening, now it would be a very good idea to release at least some informations about very unclear incidents. But it's always hard to admit mistakes... let's wait and see for the next Guida appointment.

  3. Vincic, Vincic, Vincic

    It's getting boring

  4. No need to comment about Vincic, I think we already said it all.
It's incredible that he continues even with the change of VAR, with big game after big game.
For the rest, the regular path of Makkelie continues, with a good game in Liverpool, further appearances for Peljto and Bastien, both deserved, chance for Lambrechts in Dortmund and I can agree with this assignment.
Oliver with a game that can become extremely challenging, to me that's the reason behind the assignment, how both Spanish and Duch sides play.
Taylor in Bratislava: confirmation that committee is obliged to keep him very away from spotlight, with "minor" CL assignments, honestly I'm still surpised how some of you could think he would have got PSG - Atlético, simply impossible for the recent times of the English referee. Now only candidate for that game is Kovacs, as Oliver is out as well (no other names, unless extremely big surprises).
Normal assignment for Siebert, he gets very often a big team in a rather medium - easy context, but here a win by English side is more than expected.
And Aghayev back in Champions League in a suitable game, that's how committee treats Bologna. Never Elite referees for them so far, all Cat. 1 on previous three matchdays.

    1. Chefren - You can't keep Taylor away from all countries where mistakes happen it's an absurd assumption for a trusted Elite referee. He can't officiate Italian teams, he can't officiate German teams and now Spanish teams - Soon he will run out!! hence why a PSG v Athletico fixture would have been suitable. However, UEFA seem to want to keep him away from the spotlight and that's fine - which is different to saying he can't referee this and that. We could potentially see him refereeing a Spanish team later on in the tournament.

    2. Agree woth Alfie here.
Come on you cant hide him from the spanish and italian teams. Absurd!

And wait for an assignment of Guida?
You making a joke? After the horrible performance of last match

      Delete
    3. First: I didn't ask for a next appointment of Guida, I just wrote I'm curious when it will happen and in which competition, to understand then the assessment by committee, don't worry, we don't influence them here, so you don't need to write that I'm making a joke. Also, are you talking about a single incident of the full performance?

Then, about Taylor, I'm not against the appointment of the English again with Spanish or German or Italian teams, but at moment honestly I think it's impossible because, with another mistake, he would be totally out. I even thought he wouldn't have handled CL for a certain time, but he has the trust by committee. Nevertheless, the committee can't take risks at moment, a long time should pass, but reflecting on the moment of Taylor career, don't you think that he had already many opportunities? I'm not against him, but committee had the chance to make a very easy assignment for CL final when it was possible, but he didn't get. OK, a strong name was planned, the Slovenian, but still you can say that Taylor didn't have the full trust by committee, otherwise he would have got it. Maybe it's also a question of culture, you can't understand how in Italy the English referee is considered, commented and mentioned every now and then... it's a very difficult management for committee. But... in a world where the UEFA committee wouldn't care about the teams and only about their plans, Taylor would have already officiated an Italian team again, that's sure. Modern refereeing is clearly different than th past. I think he could get some Champions League games, but not big ones, and maybe the tim for his retirement will come (age, long experience). That's my opinion.

    4. You know Larrionda germany england one incident have consequences for the net matches.

Even with Marciniak last year semi final.

Such a big foul in a match it has to be consequences.

Your story about Taylor i can follow you and you have some good arguments

      Delete
    5. Lindhout now 4th official after some weak performances. Thats include they aren't happy with him.

It has be the same for Marco Guida, but his foul was bigger

      Delete

    6. Come on Chefren, Vincic was planned for that Final regardless of whether an English team were in the final or not!
I'm not against helping an official recover BUT at some point they must relax.
Look at the way Kovacs has been treated - he is out for a few MD appointments and then back with a decent game. We are even speculating he gets PSG v Athletico after PSG v Barcelona last year where the Spanish were really unhappy with his performance - what is the difference?
The general concensus was that Taylor had a good Europa League final - yet he is punished because of Italian press nonsense with a Ref Chief who basically isn't backing him to referee Italian teams - I can understand the Roma logic for a time - but the whole other teams is ridiculous!
I'm half Italian so completely understand how the Italian's perceive him (wrongly).
Well the landscape is changing - Taylor not getting big games, we can to a degree say the same for Makkelie & Turpin so they are clearly looking at youth which is ok too.

    7. For Erik Lambrechts, this appointement as no surprise. He has performed well in his last few games for UCL, this is his second game in UCL this season. And he refereed a match not important game this Friday in the Belgian national competition. If he performs well in Borussia, we can expect a more important match.
Lawrence Visser has not officiated as a central referee this week, so we can also expect a match in UCL or UEL.
As for Lothar D'hondt, he could possibly receive a UECL match. Wait and see.

  5. I think everything has been said about Vincic, quite honestly it's ridiculous!!

I'm surprised at the lack of Spanish involvement so far (and judging by the VAR's - it's possible they won't be involved in Wednesday's fixtures.

PSG v Athletico certainly looks like Kovacs now, ( if he does, was he really punished and what's the difference between him and Taylor with the Euro fallout - just because perceived bigger countries?) English, French, Spanish, Dutch & German all out for that match, so Italian team possible with Massa (wouldn't surprise me) or relatively young with Eskas, Shrarer & Meler all possible (in theory).

VAR's suggest another Portugese appointment - could Pinheiro get his 3rd game already?

Italian team looks likely too along with perhaps another German appointment.

UEFA haven't appointed a debut yet in this round, perhaps no further debuts at this stage until things are decided.

So perhaps Osmers, Saggi & Walsh get a second appointment

  6. does anyone know what Marciniak's status is now, today he is refereeing a match in the Polish league

  7. OT slightly, not sure if it was reported elsewhere:
In what I would call a strange move - Martin Atkinson has taken the position of VAR Manager in Scotland (replacing Jon Moss who took on the referees Manager post in Australia).
So, could there have been issues with Martin and Howard?
Could we see another retirement (after Welch) of perhaps a certain Mr Taylor?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sure, Taylor is hidden but it could be for a reason, e.g. to give him the UCL final 2025 if no English teams are in it (to end his career on a high note).

  9. I know Doveri is noted for his lenient style, but his performance today in Napoli-Atalanta was really something else entirely: a completely unfocused performance from the start of the game with so many missed fouls and incidents (also by teammates). I was quite shocked. It wasn't that far away from the 'famous' refereeing by Kim Dong-jin in AC2019 for those who remember.

Even if there will be no external controversy from this match, and the tension on the pitch only really showed after the 0-3 goal at the very end, I would still deem Doveri's performance very pejoratively: '4-level' (with a 7,7 grade).

    1. You are 100% right, I watched this game today, Doveri has been this kind of referee for years, now he can do literally what he wants on the pitch, because players respect him as he is Doveri. He never had succes as international referee also for this reason, a totally weird style, just officiating a game and waiting for the end withoutm caring to what happens... but if the heads of referees accept such handling of games, we must give up. He exactly knows that he should issue cards, but he ignores and he just go on. Then you find 2 or 3 bookings in 90'+2 and 90'+4 and what the sense of that, after not having officiated the game?
The problem is that normal people can't understand that and they say he is good referee, I appreciated more Orsato because at least he had a certain style.. Doveri doesn't care at all about what he does.Today it was more visible, but for me nothing new.

  11. I know Rosetti is the boss of referees.
But what are the other people with a high profile in referee commity?

I mean the organizational chart ...

I see a lot of observers but are they also commity members?

  12. Both of Oliver's normal assistants seem to be injured/ unavailable. He worked with 2 Non Fifa Assistants on the Man City game yesterday.

    Replies
    1. Yes , his AR2 Dan Cook has been out for a while. Stuart Burt his AR1 was replaced late on Saturday before the game. Both ARS are presumably currently unavailable

Premier League referees have an injury crisis at the moment with many officials having been injured, currently out are

      Tierney
      Scott
      Salisbury (returning slowly)
      Bramall (returning slowly
Gillett?- hasn’t had an on-field appointment in a while

AR wise many are unavailable too

      Burt
      Cook
      Hussin
      Lennard

That’s 4 of the FIFA ARS ruled out. Can’t imagine we see any further English appointments this week. Davies the only one remaining

    2. Dan Robathan has done a few UEFA games recently so i assume he'll be a fifa assistant next year instead of Lennard.
