  1. Massa em Munique, Marciniak em Paris, Kovacs em Milano

  2. No spanish referees for the 18 games of this matchday. First time since when?

    1. 2 weeks ago :)

Which makes it even more remarkable, of course.
Apparently Gil Manzano is not seen as ready as Marciniak to return.

    2. I think this could be a strong sign that Gil Manzano is #1 and they wait for him to return. Otherwise there would be strong(er) focus on one of the others Spaniards (Hdz Hdz for example)

  3. Wow!Big Comeback Marciniaka

  4. Vincic, Obrenovic, Vincic, Obrenovic....

I think that it's time for a change.....

    1. If we look the performances of Obrenovic and the management skills of him during his interantional career, SORRY but this referee don't merite CL games at this level.

What about Trabzobspor-Fenerbahce match, plenty controversies and desicions that went against Fener and Mourinho is already posting some of those decisions on his social's.

Missed RC,harsh penalty for Trabzon and very obvious penalty not given to Fenerbahce in very chaotic match.

Ref was O.Cakir, but the person that stole the was A.Karaoglan, man in VAR that made every possible decision and turned blind eye against Fenerbahçe.

So now again, conspiracy theories can begin...

    1. The man of the match was Atila Karaoglan, the VAR official. The invisible man," Mourinho declared. "The on-field referee was just a kid. Atila Karaoglan was the true player of the match. We don’t want to see him again in our games, either on the field or in the VAR room. I’d heard things before coming here, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad."

Mourinho didn’t stop there, launching further criticism in his typical fiery style.

"We played against a good team who fought well, but our real battle is with the system," he continued. "When I say that, I speak for all Fenerbahçe fans. That’s why we celebrated the way we did. People warned me about what happens here, but they only told me half of it. If I’d known everything, I might not have come."

The Fenerbahçe boss also had something to say about the penalty awarded to Trabzonspor.

"Was the VAR official having coffee at that moment? How could he miss it? Or maybe he was drinking tea when he failed to give us a penalty. We need to talk about the injustice that’s been happening here for years. We are clean," Mourinho emphasized.

    2. Did he comment about disallowed obvious goal of Trabzonspor? Or did he mention about the foul on Trabzonspor player before the penalty he is asking for? Did he mention about why he is not sent off despite his swearing to opposition player, being out of his area so many times? I only agree with him the first penalty given to Trabzonspor was soft. Mourinho is Mourinho. I lost all my respect to him in recent years.

  6. Somehow i knew that Kovacs will be in Milano, when the observer was released. Paniashivili is a regular observer for the elite referees. And is a change in Kovacs team, the AR2 George Neacsu was replaced by Ferencz Tunyogi, after mistakes made in NL and last stage in CL.

  7. Marciniak back and he gets the big game, in this case I can understand committee, they will say to Atlético "We have sent to you the best referee". I made predictions without knowing that he was available for this matchday, but I must be honest, after the famous incident involving PSG game I wouldn't have expected him here. Nevertheless, the reason should be that Marciniak is well known as current best referee, so Atlético will praise this assignment (something that committee cares more than other arguments...).
Kovacs will be in Milan, another nice game for him after the good performance in Real - Borussia. Glad to see Rumsas again, and this should be his only second game in group stage, I think. Could have got more so far, but as we discussed, for some periods he seems out for unknown reasons (it happened in past as well).
Interesting to see about Eskas, after a performance with two evident crucial mistakes, still trust by committe, with another CL game. Of course he has been mostly good in all displays so far, and one can agree that a weak game taken alone, is not an argument for an immediate switch to Europa League. Important to give trust in the process of development. I think different speech about Schaerer, not appointed in this set, but both him and the VAR made a mistake in last CL appearance.
Normal assignments for Massa, Grinfeeld and Stieler, the German gained more CL games thank also to the new format of CL, otherwise he would have got some EL games instead.
Obrenovic back in CL in a game that could become challenging, but I think the argument for assigning him is the names of the teams involved, not a big clash, but a quite good German - Italian clash. Maybe it will be the most challenging game for him in recent times, we will see.
And then we have Balakin: a CL assignment every now and then, definitely not clear plans. What committee can do with him, the perspective and so on. He just gets CL, but it's hard to say which reputation actually he has. This one with Trefoloni as observer can be more important as observation than his previous appearances, though.
No Spanish referees: Gil Manzano back after the injury is getting game after game in La Liga, but it seems as he has not still reached best form. First game was a card festival, in the second he also made an OFR for a wrong penalty. Impossible to get immediately CL, but we can guess that there will be "many" Spanish referees and VARs in Europa and Conference League on Thursday.
Very last remark about VARs: it seems as some are from Nyon (van Boekel, among others, and the other Dutch appointed twice in two days) while others should be on site. Example: the full Ukrainian crew in Prague...

  8. Interesting, that several (8, I think) referees from CL MD3 were used again on CL MD4, but nobody, who had EL MD3 (including Elite referees Gözübüyük and Turpin).

    1. I also don’t understand the logic here. Some referees get a 3rd UCL game, whereas Turpin and Gozubuyuk have just one atm. Did they have a poor performance in their first game? Not that I remember…

I’d predict that Gozubuyuk and Turpin will be appointed in Nations League + MD5 UCL — and the French referee potentially saved for sth like Liverpool-Real.

    2. Just find the appointment strategy strange. As you said, why not use officials that had EL fixtures on MD 3?
      No Spanish appointments at all?
Some officials used 3 consecutive MD appointments whilst some haven't officiated since MD1/2?
Some officials used twice in a MD CL & EL?
Just all over the place for me. Think I'll give up making any kind of prediction!!

  9. About Balakin, we can say that the committee chek him. And he he has good appointment now. As well its only his second game in CL. Let's see

  10. Turpin didn't play again
Until MD4 he only played in MD1.

    1. Turpin handled the Europa League match Fenerbahçe - Manchester United on MD3.

    2. Yes, I was talking about CL games.
      Only 1 in 4Mds.

    3. That's indeed very particular and honestly I don't have explanations, EURO times have definitely passed. We know there is big focus on Letexier, but it was impossible to predict Turpin with this management by committee. There should be other reasons for which he got only one CL assignment so far.

  11. Different AR2 for Kovacs after mistakes recently in Croatia vs Scotland and Madrid vs Dortmund by the AR2 in those matches.

    1. Should be a direct choice by referee / Romanian federation, I think, otherwise UEFA would have asked for a change in Peljto team as well. But, reflecting on the situation, it's also true that a fixed team can have different story and management than relatively new assistant referees who don't perform well in their first very big games...
