  3. What do you guys think about this match ? Will it be nice and "easy" because they respect each other, or will it be "crazy" at some point ?

    1. Everything uncertain and very much hanging in balance

    2. As long as he manages it like a clasical UEFA match, all should be fine

    3. Yes, 33’ it seems both teams are focusing on playing football. Lots of respect between the two the teams and not much or niggle. Very easy for him to manage thus far

  4. I'm pretty sure that Taylor won't take any crap from the players.

  5. +100 to both comments above can't wait for this derby to unfold before our eyes

  6. I know it is not the "right" thread so I won't post more than this, but I am really looking forward to the next game. It can go off the rails ....

  7. Good luck to Taylor. I think he is very capable of leading this!

  8. I'm not saying that it should be a penalty every time, but there are too much holding and shirt pulling in the area.

    1. And it happens in football generally

      Delete
    2. It happens because referee’s allow it to happen. Defensive players know that they no longer have to defend smartly. They just grapple with the attacking players to neutralize them.

All the referees do is talk and warn all game long. But they never act beyond verbal threats.

  9. Missed YC to Cancelo (POR) for a clear holding out of the play. Big foul and just FK for Taylor. Too lenient IMO.

  10. And another one missed on the other YC. Typical WC 2026 approach by Taylor.

    1. Side *. Apart these two possible YC, very good Taylor in a easy match.

    2. Easy game for Taylor ,refereeing a lot of players ,he has refereed in the PL .2 possible cards ,but consistant warning both players

  11. Excellent 1st half from the referee and team... which isnt something ive said a lot this tournamen

  12. Half time clean performance by the English crew Taylor and his ARs just neat and tidy, I believe the second half will more challenging as the quarter finals bid we expect, hopefully the officials deliver in next 45+' as well

  13. Unexpectedly easy first half for Taylor in which he did fine with what was put in front of him

    1. Unexpected? No we haven’t seen either of these teams play in a manner which might have suggested a difficult game for him. No big KMI’s either but as you said, dealt with the game that has been given to him.

  14. Once again - going in the box - missed YC…

    1. Here hes being consistent and doing what Collina has told him...... hes been excellent at following orders

    2. They asked for no cards, he is delivering

  15. What FIFA is trying to implement here is going to cause us all a great deal of trouble. No one will understand any longer why yellow cards are given for tactical fouls, because everyone will look to the World Cup as a benchmark. These are going to be very difficult times for us (amateur) referees!

    1. Yes, I feel sorry for the grassroots referees

  16. It is so sad that Zwayer and Makkelie are out of World Cup and only 4O, but unexperienced or terrible referees like from Uzbekistan and Jordanian get nomination s for KO games. Quality and performances should matter in refereeing, but FIFA is only interested in confederations equality

    1. The referee from Jordan has been excellent until now and deserved the appointments hes had so far... when it comes to the other name you mentioned I couldn'tagree more

    2. Makhadmeh has been really good and deserves this KO match.

  17. Relativ easy match to be a ref when the players are not interested in tackling. Boring match tbh....

    1. It's a shame that 2 (on paper) good teams can't do better

  18. Correct YC. Stupid thing to do

    ReplyDelete
  19. Taylor knows Silva inside out and all his dirty tactics, he knew that was intentional and clamped down with a yellow. Well done

    ReplyDelete
  20. Stepped in at the correct moment with a YC. Deliberate action by Silva. Calmed down the benches too

    ReplyDelete
  21. Excellent allowing the FK be taken quickly rather than the robotic approach of holding things up like many refs have done this tournament. And standard YC there for promising attack being prevented

    ReplyDelete
  22. If England fail to reach the final it's easy to imagine either Oliver or Taylor as referee with the other 4/O

    ReplyDelete
  23. Very good Taylor at least. Correct third YC for the match and Ferran Torres. Good job by english crew.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Good performance but also very easy game for Taylor

    ReplyDelete
  25. Every player on that pitch Respected Taylor.... something very important to consider for later stages in the tournament

    1. I suspect similar would have happened for most of the UEFA Elite list.

    2. I think Taylor and knowing most players from the Prem on top of those from UCL was a huge help

  26. "See you" in a few hours. It's going to be hot :)

  27. Very well officiated by Taylor and his crew. Last few yellows all correct but obvious. Easy game that was always in control. Maybe we'll see him again

    ReplyDelete
  28. That's what we call flawless performance, job well done by Taylor very clean, neat and tidy

    ReplyDelete
  29. People saying easy game…that I think is partly down to Taylor, of course it helps when players want to get on with it. Congrats team ref.

    1. +1 but also the comfortable environment was created by Taylor, very much not giving soft fouls through out the game

  30. Very easy game for Taylor, without any pressure, and football focused. Expect more hot game tommorow in Atlanta!

  31. Outstanding officiating of Taylor.

  32. Loved the way Taylor dealt with the Spanish bench with a shout of sit down...which they did ....no messing and nip it in the bud

    1. Help by the 4fo moving the whole match as well 😂

      Delete
    2. Zwayer peut arbitrer la demi finale 80%

      Delete
  33. Brilliant performance by Taylor. Yes, it was football focused, but that's also because of the referee. Great management, great foul detection, brilliant card management. Would be justified if he was to be considered for a semi final or even the final, dependent on England getting further of course.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Maybe it's a strategy to keep Makkelie and Zwayer in the loop (as 4O) while they are waiting for their big games...?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think Makkelie and Sampaio are the two strongest candidates for the World Cup final.

Makkelie has officiated three matches: the opening match between the USA and Paraguay, Morocco vs. Haiti and France vs. Sweden. All three matches were completed without any major issues or controversy. He did not miss any penalties or red cards, which means his record is still clean.

Sampaio has also officiated three matches: the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, Norway vs. Senegal and the Netherlands vs. Morocco. Although he had a VAR intervention for a red card for violent conduct in the opening match, he nevertheless delivered good performances overall.

With both the Netherlands and Brazil now eliminated from the World Cup, neither referee has any nationality-related obstacle to being considered for the final.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The fact that Zlatan and Henry mentioned Makkelie as one of the best referees at this World Cup will probably help him as well, at least in terms of perception.
