  2. Very harsh first YC to Ndlovu (no reckless foul, no SPA) and very harsh second YC to Ndlovu for simulation. But wasn't it simply a foul in penalty area? Doubtful decisions.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah. 84' - Atlético appeal for a penalty, no whistle, there was a push in the back though.

      Delete
    2. Agree. But is it enough for a crucial penalty? Grey Areva for me. Possible whistle but plat on ok too.

    3. Here's a video clip of it:

      https://streamable.com/9bmaq

      My initial instinct was:

Contact made to trip, player embellished fall.

      Delete
  3. Sorry, Ray but strongly disagree. Perfect example of clear exaggeration of the contact. Even the player didn’t say nothing and went outside without Words. Do you think a player didn’t react after this kind of cards ? ;)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Furthermore, please lool at the player way of falling...clear unnatural.

      Delete
    2. Ndlovu never dissents at referees.

      Delete
    3. Fall is natural because Ndlovu's right leg hit his left leg due to contact caused by Godín.

    4. I share more Benoit Auguste's view this time.
After having watched the video, I think there was a clear attempt by Qarabar player to make it bigger than it really was. And in my opinion that was not enough for a penalty, so I would say a supportable decision by Buquet, who decided to punish more the attitude of the player than what really happened. In normal conditions, player from home-team could have got a penalty.

      Delete
    5. I tend more to agree with Ray, having turned even surely a small contact is enough to knock you off balance, his fall is thanks to his legs hitting each other, caused actually directly by the contact. I could accept play on even, but that is no simulation I am pretty sure. Hard situation to evaluate in real time, I must say.

  4. Bayern-Celtic:
    1. Did the ball really cross the line before the goal?
    2. Should this not have been a penalty for Bayern there?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Everything happened at around minute 7, by the way.

      Delete
    2. Can't speak to the penalty portion, but here's a short clip of the ball and the line (looks to be on the line, not fully outside).

      https://streamable.com/yy374

      Delete
  5. Not the best start from Karasev.
Wrongly dissallowed goal in 6' (Ball didn't cross the goal-outline, AAR2 responsible).
7': Missed PK + DOGSO RC IMO.... Ref, AR2 and AAR2 had the opportunity to spot it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm sorry a few minutes in Bayern - Celtic and already two crucial mistake for Russian team: at first a goal was annulled because AR2 / AAR2 thought that the ball was out of the pitch, replay showed that it was still on the line, then after that a missed penalty. It looked clear. Again close to AAR2. This in front of a committee member...

    1. Chances for Russia diminishing for the Russian?

      Delete
    2. I don't think that he'll go to Russia or miss out because of this game for several reasons:
      1. Champions league belongs to UEFA, and FIFA tournaments have nothing to do with it.
      2. Bayern will win for sure IMO, so nobody cares.
      3. Generally I think that he is a reliable referee for such matches as today, I don't think that he fits to tough and heated matches. But only my view, I didn't see him so often (3-4 times) until now.

I would appoint him as FO in the WC, he deserves that. But no more IMO.

      Delete
    3. Here's a better reason it won't hurt him: there has NEVER been a World Cup without a referee from the host nation.

Karasev will be there. It's a certainty.

      Delete
    4. I'm aware of that. I'm also quite sure that he'll be there, but I think also that his performances doesn't justify it. As I wrote, I would give him a spot as FO, but not as main referee.
But FIFA is about politics, thats very sad...

  7. Is anybody watching Björn Kuipers in Moscow? No telecast of the game here so would be great if someone gives updates... I'm watching Michael Oliver in Turin as of now!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nothing happens here. Boring...

      Delete
    2. Important match for both teams... Things might start happening anytime... Please keep us updated! :)

      Delete
    3. A couple of fouls around 35' that could be yellow-carded. Kuipers decided not to issue YCs. Seems ok in a calm match like this.

      Delete
    4. Important situation on 50'. Kuipers denied Basel second goal after 30-40 seconds pause due to the foul just before the goal. Basel players were celebrating, CSKA appealed to AR1. Finally, Kuipers denied the goal. I am not sure even after watching a couple of replays

      Delete
    5. Reading your post, it seems as Kuipers changed idea only because there were protests by CSKA side?
Surely a situation to be watched.

      Delete
    6. Here is the link of the goal. No complete video for now

    7. Was there any communication of Kuipers with AR or AAR??

      Delete
    8. It seems to be an offside and correct decision.

      Delete
    9. The doubt was surely who touched the ball, but I'm not sure that player who received it was in offside. Waiting for more replays.

      Delete
    10. I would assume Kuipers had a communication with AR and AAR here regarding the touch and finally they might have decided it as offside!!

      Delete
  8. Correctly disallowed Barcelona goal for offside by Collum and AR1 at around 22'... Saw this situation while channel surfing

    ReplyDelete
  9. Good start from Francis Connor. Good onside at 1-0 and good flag in 22'. Collum missed a YC to Odjidja-Ofoe in 10' (stamp) and some seconds later had to book Piqué for clear holding/SPA.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I want to view elbow situation around 27'/28' in Juventus- Sporting CP... Oliver just gave a free kick outside the box for a foul... I want to see some replays to comment further!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Good YC to Pique (42nd minute) for handling in an attempt to score... Good spot by either the AAR or AR, as the referee doesn't have a good angle to see this one...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Saw an replay from behind the goal, wasn’t clear that the ball actually touched the hand even though every other replay looked like it touched the hand

      Delete
  12. Collum should have at least 2 more yellows against Olympiakos. He is way too Lenient.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Skomina has today a 50th match in Champions league.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No... It's only his 40th match in UCL... For avoidance of doubt let me mention, only appointments from group stage onwards are counted as clearly mentioned by UEFA!!

      Delete
  14. Thank you for correction, I add also 10 matches before group stages :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. However, in press kit you can read it's his 50th CL-game.

    1. But in press kits points they mention that matches before group stages are not counted... As per that it's 40... For Kuipers also they write it as 45 but actually it's 37...

      Delete
  16. Excellent onside for Hazard 2nd goal...great match with intensive tempo and of course 6 goals till 75min

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thought Oliver should've booked Mandzukic for running into the crowd by crossing the perimeter fence for celebrating the Juventus 2–1 goal...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agree, weird that he hasnt done that because in Premier League he always books players whnever they run into crowd.

      Delete
  18. Good game by Skomina. Normal game for him. He showed 1 yellow card for holding which was correct, also good onsides before 3rd goals from both teams. Good football on Standford Bridge which was a pleasure to watch.

      84': No penalty for me.
90+2': Strange situation. Letting the advantage go has been well done here. Initially he decided offside, but then seems to have had communication with AR2 and comes then back to the initial SPA decision...

27': reckless use of elbow in my view, missing YC here.
58': in my view, this should have been a penalty. Reminds me a bit of Clattenburg's PK in Czech Republic-Croatia at EURO 2016.
83': Well played advantage, fully correct to book Chiellini here for a reckless tackle.
84': Mandzukic should have been booked here IMO.

    1. 3' - SFP, endangering the safety of an opponent
      6' - ball in play
7' - penalty and... in Poland it's not 100% DOGSO, don't know about UEFA, but RC for DOGSO would be preferable in my eyes
      38' - OK
      62' - offside
85' - most likely offside, difficult for the AR involved

      Delete
    2. For the last offside incident, I'm not sure who actually touched it last - slowing it down to 1/4 speed it looks like it might've been the Bayern player who kicked it through?

      Delete
    3. 3': clear SFP for me, red card had to be issued!
6': the ball didn't very likely not cross the line, the goal should have stood.
7': PK + RC for DOGSO. Lewandowski would have been through. No chance to play the ball for Lustig.
      38': reckless tackle, correct decision.
      62': offside
85': offside, well spotted by AR2.

    1. Can someone please analyse the disallowed Basel goal in 52' in Kuipers' game?

    2. 1) Was there an offside position at all? I don't think so.

      2) Who played the ball? It seems the white player plays the ball that is kicked by an opponent a fraction of a second later. Was that touch a deliberate play or deflection? Defending player wanted to play the ball (pro deliberate play) but the ball was played a split second before the touch by defending player is made (pro deflection).

You can back the referee if there was an offside position but it was not. Mistake.

    3. There was an offside position by a White player I think... Marginally offside IMO...

    4. It looks like he spoke to the AAR--not the AR. I suspect the AAR gave a foul.

    5. But where's the foul? I can't locate it.. Please help!

    6. I checked uefa.com for an official source, it is indeed reported that Kuipers punished a foul by Basel player who had scored. Not a matter of offside, indeed player was in regular position.
So Gözübüyük took the responsibility of this very crucial call. If you watch the video when the minute of the game is 51:26 / 51:27 you can see Gözübüyük making a gesture to explain (I think) the reason of the decision. Illegal use of arm against the opponent before getting the ball and then scoring.
In my opinion, however, it is a wrong call: the contact is less than soft and absolutely there isn't any foul.
This should be assigned as crucial mistake...

    7. Even if it's supported then also an extremely soft call I must say... This explains the fact why Kuipers had a communication with Gözübüyük and then made the decision... Now a question arises why was van Boekel suddenly replaced as an AAR with Gözübüyük??

    8. Injury, I suppose. I missed Van Boekel in the Dutch appointments for a while.

    9. Probably it was the offence when the CSKA player want to kick the ball, but his leg was blocked by white player? Anyway, the foul seemed too soft and for my opinion is crucial mistake for the Referee and AAR1.

    10. Does soft always mean wrong?? 🤔
