  1. Very good appointment for Haţegan. I think he can manage this game on Wednesday and then he will have a week before a possible CL assignment on 31/10 - 01/11. Considering the long travel, a bit of rest, I'm not sure he could get immediately a game. What do you think?
Soham, your prediction for the final?

    1. I would say Nawaf Shukralla (Bahrain) and Enrique Caceres (Paraguay) would be the most likely names, in that order, for the Final... For the 3rd place match I'll go for Anastasios Sidiropolous (Greece) :)

  2. I would imagine the final team will have either Bahranian or American influence

    1. You would assign Marrufo after all the controversy his performance in Brazil vs Germany caused?

    2. No chance for Marrufo at all

Sandro Ricci (Brazil) will be the South American referee in the ClubWC with his usual assistants (Emerson de Carvalho, Marcelo Van Gasse) as expected.
Wilton Sampaio (Brazil) will be there as VAR.

    4. Fully disagree on Brych's appointment: He just got the CL final and faced Real Madrid; may be an other elite Uefa would be more fair. Mazic or Atkinson for example. If I'm not wrong it's the first time that the CL final man is appointed for the CWC on the same year.

    5. I would've preferred Ryuji Sato in place of Irmatov from AFC... Brych and Ricci weren't needed here but then they were very much expected because they couldn't attend U20 and U17 WC respectively because of other appointments!!

  5. Did anybody watch the Brazil vs Germany Quarterfinal?
The reason I ask is because it seems that Busacca has had to spend a lot of his time recently defending the performance of Jair Marrufo. I'd love to hear any and all comments that aby of your may have in regards to this match.

To be honest. I was surprised to see Marrufo assigned to this match. Being from the U.S. and seeing him ask to often in MLS and in CONCACAF Competitions. I've never been impressed by him. He was able to get his FIFA badge sty a time where the level of officiating was quite poor in the U.S.

    1. Marrufo was poor in the match... Missed a clear foul before the 2nd Brazil goal... Missed a possible penalty for Germany... And finally poor management of stoppage time... His performance left a lot to be desired 😓

    2. And Busacca's statements were as usual ridiculous and beggars belief... Everything is always fine for him as he keeps saying with all sorts of comical statements 😒

    3. I watched only the highlights so I can't comment on that, one correct penalty was whistled. But it seems as he missed all the rest, reading your words...

    4. I checked now more carefully the second goal scored by Brazil, indeed there is a blatant illegal use of arms against the opponent who was trying to challenge the player from Brazil. It was clear because German player got even injured, falling down after that. Crucial mistake...

    5. Busacca said to media that Marrufo was all good and that there was no major problem at all in the match... Just imagine 😪

    6. Busacca says: "If we commit a mistake, for me it’s easy to admit and say we were bad". And that they're, in all of his time as the chief of officiating for FIFA. I've never seen or heard him do or say that. We only get a non stop flow of excuses and or blatant lies. His arrogant, smug and nonchalant ways truly get under my skin. It's frustrating to have such delusional man leading a current great generation of Referee's.

    7. In fairness he cannot come out and absolutely criticise his referees, that is left for CAF...
To my mind that is a political enough statement that he accepts Marrufo didn't have a good performance.
He was a great referee on the pitch but he isn't a great manager of it, that is clear. Having say, three managers, is more preferable to my mind.

Anyone going to any tournament of Refereeaboard ?
Would like to hear anything if anyone has ever been to their tournaments?

  7. Controversial moments for Dario Sato. Anybody have an ideas why?
The entire Mali bench was outraged and asking Sato to view something. I think that More excuses coming from Busacca after Spain vs Mali. And more victim (Mali) blaming from Busacca will also come.

    1. Sato or AR1 had nothing to do there... It was a disallowed goal that crossed the line... Please see my analysis under the Club World Cup post!!
