    1. I think, he should get a break after last three weeks in club competitions and NL on MD1&3.

  2. I’m interesting to see the international appointments of the Scottish referees. Collum with three 7.9 marks in a row in Russia, Liege and Prague. I didn’t see his match on Thursday but this was a sensible appointment to build confidence after also having indifferent performances at home too.

Madden had a low key match between Slovenia and Greece and following a good performance in champions league last week I expect a better test.

Beaton performed will in Croatia v Sweden, which was a surprise appointment but should be appointed again to follow up that showing.

Clancy Robertson and Walsh could all have a match but I think time is running out for Clancy to make the step to category 1 and the other two will likely move past him.

I also heard that Hugh Dallas is having a bigger impact again in Scotland via his good friend, average referee and regularly appointed Uefa observer William Young, who is head of the referee committee. This is worrying as it’s always been suggested that Dallas rewards personal relationships with his family ahead of performance, like the continued support of Collum and more recently placing Douglas Ross in Collums team to fit his schedule, at the expense of other performing assistants. I’m sure it does have its benefits having an MP as a friend. There are many other examples of favouritism where surely performance should prevail, though these behaviours seem consistent with how Uefa are operating at the moment.

    1. If I am not mistaken, Ross was not appointed by UEFA in the last two weeks, after it was revealed that he used his AR picture in a political manifesto.

    2. ET, just curious, how do you know about the marks given to Collum? Are they publicly availible, do you have them from a private source or just your own guess? Just interested in their availibility

  3. A few moments from Belarus were discussed earlier in this blog. The refereeing department of the Belarusian Football Federation commented on the discussion moments of the last matchday. All decisions were recognised as correct.

  4. Is there a reason why Gibraltar vs Norway U21 is cancelled?

    ReplyDelete
  5. The games of Armenia (against Sweden and Iceland) and Norway (against Giubraltar and Belarus) are cancelled. The games of Norway are useless, without any importance in final table. But the games of Iceland and Sweden are really important.

For me it's really unbelievable that UEFA permitted something like this. Even in these days, with COVID.

  6. Disappointed with Michael Fabbri with Scotland Croatia. Poor game management lost complete control of the game at times struggle to let game flow.

    1. 2 RC's he showed.
First one was spot on,2nd was harsh imo.
No clear line, in some moments too easy with bookings, in other too lenient.

      Not consistent in his performance.

    1. 1st penalty a mistake IMO
      2nd one is correct.

    2. Both penalties correct in my oppinion, ball is long in the air, it's the risk of the defender if his eye is not on the ball.

      Delete
    3. Both penalties correct IMO. Agree with David concerning first one : too many risks by defender to not follow the ball. Good decisions by Swiss ref.

  11. Hugh Dallas will observe Mario Zebec. The focus on Croatian referees goes on.

    1. Maybe Dallas just wanted to spend few days in Marbella ... (joke !)

      Delete
    2. It makes sense because few days ago one former Croatian referee said that Zebec will be "100% promoted this winter". It was in informal interview so not official information, but still I suppose he knows the situation well.

  12. Very hard game to Barbeno!!
    Now ends 1st half

  13. Some changes, Zebec removed from Spain - Israel, now Saggi from Norway will handle it. Almost local officiating crew in Kazakhstan, only main referee from Serbia. If you spot other replacements, you can write about!

    1. So now Saggi with Hugh Dallas

    2. Oh my, such a bad luck if this should have been his final test.

    3. I disagree with your conclusion. Uefa is serious organization. He will receive very very soon some chance. He doesn't have bad performance, he is maybe sick (COVID or some other reasons).

      Delete
    4. What was my "conclusion" that you dont agree with? That Zebec is unlucky to be unable (probably covid reasons) to officiate the match with an important observer?:)

Btw, not so many games left until half-season category updates, especially for 3rd category.

      Delete
    5. I don't understand why UEFA would promote any referees from 3rd to 2nd in the winter, only revisions at that time are really so referees can handle CL KO stage games (that wasn't the case with Kovács, Vinčić and Grinfeld but). U17 / U19 Elite Rounds, Final Tournaments are important tests for 3rd Cat. referees considered for promotion.

Zebec was quite a good ref when I watched him so if he avoids big mistakes in UEFA games he should go up (especially if he was on Dallas' radar). I guess Pajač is out after that Cup SF disaster and I don't know about you but I was never that convinced by Pejin?

      Delete
    6. Yes, you may be right, summer is when major changes happen usually.

I dont know what you mean by "Pajač is out", but he had a very good game in Israel in CL qual. this summer (2 correct pk, very good body language) . He is a good referee and I believe he could recover fully and improve.

      Regarding Pejin, I agree.

  15. Terrible mistake from Goga Kikacheishvili in the Romania Denmark match, penalty awarded was a foul clearly outside of the penalty area it wasn't even close. As things stand Romania needs 1 point to qualify, this mistake can have big consequences

  16. And red card for Danish guy is also not clear for me, very little contact. Though have to watch a replay in this one...

    1. Referee in ROUDEN is Giorgi Vadachkoria and not Goga Kikacheishvili.

DOGSO call is quite excellent in my view (probably too courageous actually) but indeed the penalty given is a very clear mistake.

Nothing against either Georgian referee, but I think this game should have had a UEFA 2nd Cat.
