  1. On the list is missing the second from right (who is also the reserve official) - Lucie Ratajova from CZE.

  2. Last match for Mike Pickel (ex-FIFA AR, AR of Wolfgang Stark) in today's German Cup Final (referee: Sascha Stegemann), who is the AR with the most matches in German Bundesliga: 366 matches (despite an injury not a while ago; Source @CollinasErben – Twitter) and fourth Cup final.

    1. He has had an outstanding career and was the AR of Herbert Fandel before he was the AR of Wolfgang Stark

    2. Mike Pickel has more than 400 matches in BL

    3. In Weltfootball list started 2002. Pickel was Assistent since 1999/2000

    4. Indeed, the number should be 404.

  3. So, at the end it seems that Del Cerro Grande will stay in LaLiga for at least one more season, but both his regular ARs (Juan Carlos Yuste Jiménez & Roberto Alonso Fernández) have run the line for the last time in their career tonight.

You may say it's an overstatement, but I genuinely think that Yuste Jiménez-Alonso Fernández is the best AR pair from UEFA refereeing since Mazic's ARs Ristic and Djurdjevic disappeared from the main scene with the former's retirement. Excellent accuracy rate.

    1. In The Netherlands there are still some very good AR... although they are not at the highest Uefa level, because of the main referee Higler is only a cat 2, but Mario Diks (former team Makkelie for years), and Erwin Zeinstra (former Bjorn Kuipers assistent) are now most together with Higler, Diks and Zeinstra belong definetly to the best off Europe as well

    2. Don’t underestimate Pau Cebrian Devis and Roberto Palomar, Bahattin Turan and Tarik Ongun as well. They really served on an incredible high level for several years.

At this moment the best pairs of assistants in my opinion are: Beswick and Nunn, Steegstra and De Vries, Sokolnicki and Listkiwietz,

    3. For me the best (individual) European assistants ever were:
      1. Darren Cann
      2. Erwin Zeinstra
      3. Sander van Roekel
      4. Milovan Ristic
      5. Dalibor Djurdjevic
      6. Mike Mullarkey

    4. Best European female assistants :
      1) Sian Massey
      2) Lucie Ratajova
      3) Ella de Vries
      4) Manuela Nicolosi
      5) Michelle O’Neill

    5. Would be very interesting to find out who were most accurate AR’s in 2021/2022 season.

We always read about referees receiving an award. The best AR is never published isn’t it?
Readers; any idea who was the most accurate AR in your domestic league?

    7. Nobody mentioned Italian assistant referees :) but I think they are among the best and with an overall excellent level. The problem is that there aren't so many historicals duos due to the fact that there have been always changes, the last one in Orsato's team recently and that's because there are, as I already said, many good Italian assistant referees, but not so many referees at very top level right now. It is a pity, just to make an example, that Meli will have to stay home without the chance to attend the World Cup. To be honest, in Giallatini and Preti I never saw a real excellence if compared to other assistants we hae. Yes both good / very good, but not at the level of others. Indeed the change for WC Preti / Carbone was a clear signal of that. But I don't want to bother you too much with that!
About Yuste Jiménez yes I think he would have deserved WC, but now with assigned assistant referes this can't be done anymore. Yuste Jiménez has been outstanding in his career, that's true, but in recent times I think at UEFA level he showed a certain lack of performance if compared to past, this before the health problem he had. I don't know in La Liga, but the recent Yuste Jiménez was not like the old one... however, the palmares is simply incredibile.
Having said that, under my eyes Van Roekel and Zeinstra in recent time have been definitely the best UEFA assistant referees, maybe ever. I remember many situations solved with teamwork with Kuipers, that would have been VAR stuff for all other referees, with an incredible degree of difficulty, and this is the factor that can make assistant referees even better, because it is not only about the 1-3 millimeter offside... this can be even luck sometimes... but they were accurate in this regard as well!

  4. Who or how do you think UEFA/FIFA will appoint the referee for the Finnalisima between Argentina and Italy at Wembley.

    1. Frappart - Nicolosi, Back - Alves Batista

    2. In my opinion they will appoint a referre from the tird continent, for me it is Mustapha Ghorbal (ALG) or Alireza Faghani (IRN).

    3. I don't think there is currently a CAF referee who deserves that match, in the sense that no CAF referees can match quality of CONMEBOL and UEFA referees. I think currently under UEFA and CONMEBOL is AFC in other words only AFC has proper match officials from neutral confederations.

    4. According to UEFA, "the referee appointment will be made jointly by the two confederations". This gives the idea that there will be UEFA/CONMEBOL officials. In addition, it might make sense to appoint a referee who missed out on the World Cup. Perhaps Del Cerro Grande as a farewell?

    5. The comment by Anonymous @00:26 looks more an answer than a prediction :) But Brazilian officials with Argentina, I don't know if possible!
