  1. About Egnatia - Borac Banja Luka, I hadn't checked the assignment before but it was reported that Colombo, new Italian FIFA referee was appointed for his debut in UEFA clubs competitions. Then the replacement with Maresca.
It seems that everything happened in the first leg of the tie, including a suspension for racism, with the Polish referee very busy. Absolutely, in case, not a game fro a debut and you can understand why there was this change, with a very experienced referee.
    Here first leg in full:

One of the most interesting moments, 67', in the middle of second half.

    1. Yeah after the first match Albanian players and coach were absolutely furious with the referee, saying that they have never seen such a bad referee and claiming that the disciplinary measures were unequal for both teams.

  2. Initially, it was Andrew Madley for HJK Helsinki - FK Panevėžys and Andrea Colombo for KF Egnatia - FK Borac Banja Luka.

  3. First, good lack to the referees!
Second Éric Wattellier and Alerola Rojas will be the next elite referees in Europe.
Last, in Borac-Egnatia i think UEFA officials (delegate, referees ecc) should have reacted earlier.

    1. Maybe UEFA should even have prevented the tie from happening in the first place, Bosnian teams aren't allowed to play Kosovar teams and maybe they shouldn't be able to play Albanian either...

    2. It's not at all. It's because the Bosnian team is from the the serbian part of Bosnia and it looks like a Serbia-Albania match (for clubs).
If you rembember what happend in Belgrade ?

  4. Did you guys watch Colombia vs Argentina Final?

What do you think about 3 penalty shouts in that game?

2 for COL and 1 for ARG?

  5. OT:

Bertrand Layec reported to become a new head of Croatian referees!

Can anyone share any experience regarding his positions in France, Belgium and Cyprus?

  6. Not impressed by Maresca's refereeing in Elbasan. Players are making it a very tough game on a foul recognition level, but the Italian is visibly unsure how to decide in (too) many incidents, in addition to a very arbitrary disciplinary control -> his refereeing isn't arousing much trust from the players, who try to kid him very often. One could guess the opening of three YCs was suggested by VAR and it would have been nice to see a replay to determine whether it was SFP or not. In addition, the goal for the Bosnian side shouldn't have stood imo, careless foul committed before (can understand why it wasn't deemed c&o though).

    1. Potential penalty to Egnatia Rrogozhine: https://streambug.org/cv/6d9290

Similar story in the second half, but the game felt more under Maresca's control since the break. Hopefully everything goes well in extra time!

    2. I agree that foul should have been whistled before the 1-1 by Bosnian side, clearly reckless, bur a situation in which VAR seems not expected to intervene (in practice, not enough).
It would be good to have all "clean" goals in a game, we know.
The penalty could have been whistled as well. Hopefully in extra time he was good.

    3. Nothing really happened in extra time, the most interesting event was the goalnet being repaired at one stage :D. One of the penalties was repeated for the goalkeeper being off the line, seemed a correct decision by Peretti.

In the end, okay-ish performance by Maresca all told.

OFR for Alberola Rojas in the 32:30 minute of first half.
Changing YC to RC for SFP.
The point of impact was decisive, one can agree with VAR call, could have looked like a classic reckless challenge.

    1. Clear RC, I don't see any reason to support anything else, textbook SFP

  8. A situation from Dinamo Batumi - Ludogorets, Dario Bel was the referee.

Allegedly the goal was disallowed because of the foul of the attacker that was on the first post.

    1. Many Georgian people furious against the blog on the social media as if we were UEFA (this happens very often, but this time I was very surprised by the origin of the protests).
It seems as this situation in Georgia was a very big topic, based on this clip I think one can't draw a definitive conclusion, perhaps a classic situation in which VAR can't intervene in both cases, but expected decision is play on.
