    1. Very stupid rule is that if ref wrongly gives corner kick, VAR can change his decision into goal kick, but if he wrongly gives goal kick - VAR can’t over rule that decision. That os extremely stupid.
And yes, in 2 minutes Makkelie had 2 corner/goal kick decisions.

  6. 53:09 MOR 7 attempted "header" collides with HAI player, immediately in front of him, in the back of head. You can see on the replay he is in full realization that he is late and the HAI player will get the ball but he still snaps his head forward. No foul for this very dangerous contact. If this was from behind into the legs, no question of a foul. With the danger to the opponent, this is a reckless foul.

    2. As I understand it, there is an option to make an announcement even after a lengthy VAR check. That is how the KNVB explains it.
I don't know if FIFA wants to do that, but it appears to be permitted.

    3. I think I remember Anthony Taylor doing similar at the CWC in ‘25.

    4. @Anass that make sense, when the crowd or the players don't really understand the situation i think it's fine to make an announcement

  14. The push for referees to be so central has created many situations in games where they interfere with play.

  15. Come on why why whislting before quick counter about 3 min half was waisted in var check and the injjry in extra time

  16. An overall good performance by Makkelie. He didn't look suffer from a hangover after his first match, it bodes well for his prospects in the rest of the tournament.

It is fortunate for everyone that there was no need for cards to Morocco, which might have given the Netherlands an advantage.
