  1. Where is UEFA Delegate David Martin from? "GBR" is used by the IOC at the Olympic tournaments for "Great Britain" but FIFA/UEFA differentiate between England/ENG, Scotland/SCO, Wales/WAL and Northern Ireland/NIR. Maybe Mr. Martin is a representative of Gibraltar (GIB)?

    1. According to the following document, Mr. Martin might be the President of the Irish Football Association:

"The Irish Football Association president, David Martin, who was a UEFA delegate for the tournament, [...]" (page 28)

    2. Indeed, he is from Northern Ireland but in UEFA system it's (GBR) after his name. I will change it to (NIR).

  2. My prediction for FINAL:
    Andrew Dallas (SCO)
    Aron Härsing (EST)
    Ian Bird (WAL)
    Sandro Schärer (SUI)

  3. Sandro Schärer for Final?? Or the Dallas connection will prevail?? :D

  4. clearly, the final should be given to Juan Martinez Munuera. He has done the best performances so far.

    1. Martínez Munuera would also be the most logical choice regarding the appointments in the K.O. stage so far: We can expect one of the three fourth officials as final referee and the Spaniard is the only one without involvement of any further team in the final.

  5. And usually one assistant from each semi final, unless two together were exceptional

  6. Does anyone look Hernández Hernandez in Ajax Sturm Graz?

  7. Yes, i do. Hernandez ok in first half. AR1 with three quite close calls. Very difficult to judge.

    Easy first half so far

    1. Good YC for SPA in the first half
      Correct Penalty call Ajax
PK Graz could have been whistled, de Ligt makes contact but was the ball in or out of play?

  8. Correct no penalty for Graz. Advantage of shot on goal was given. After that there was contact.

Missed at least one mandatory YC for a late tackle.

2nd YC was also possible. On the other hand, the match wasn’t very intense. Lot of respect betweeen players. So 8.0 for me.

    1. Neither your argumentation for the no penalty call (advantage?!) nor your mark 8.0 is comprehensible for me. From my point of view, I would prefer a penalty for Sturm Graz. Furthermore I think, the penalty for Ajax was not really uniform with his quite generous line regarding Law 12.

Anyway, in general I was really convinced by Hernandez who showed how much potential he has according to my opinion. Especially his fitness/movement as well as his personality and tactical approach were excellent. Unfortunately there were some decisions which damaged this good picture a little bit. Nevertheless, we should keep his name in mind.

  9. I looked at those incidents and did not find any crucial mistake. All those decisions were very closed to call - arguments for both sides. And so only 1 missed YC. And sure we can expect him to be in the beginning of a great careernif he stays healthy. 8.0 would be def too harsh. For me 8.2

  10. OT:
    Opinions and Comments please.
These are from the NWSL. The professional women's league in the United States.
In both of these incidents. The referee's only showed a caution.

  11. Excellent HH in Ámsterdam, I think.

  12. Does someone have any info or views about the performances of Jonathan Lardot so far during the U19 Championship? Thanks in advance!

  13. IMO Hernández Hernández missed a clear penalty for Sturm Graz around 50th minute. Contact was very clear and ball still onside.

Penalty for Ajax is at least supportable.

Noticed also, UEFA referees wearing coloured shirt also wear coloured socks.

  14. Looking the U19 EC... nice to see the normal was of using YCs again. Lardot especially with a very good performance. Schüttengruber solid and convincing, too.

  15. Champions League.

  16. I watched only the first half of Lardot in Italy - France, it was an expected level.

  17. Tamás Bognár in Atalanta - Sarajevo: in my opinion a very good performance by Hungarian crew and a 8.5 would be even justified. He didn't have so many crucial situations but he was always in control and alert throughout the entire game. Both assistant referees faultless and they had several very important decisions.
Well done in a quite challenging game - maybe not so challenging - but for sure a bit more than the expected.

    1. Well, for sure Hungary could have an alternative to Kassai.
I think that it would be nice to see another Elite referee from this country. Bognár can be on the right way, but in my opinion he needs still time. He has "only" 9 games in EL group stage.
Before the big step he should show more, I think.
However, it is also possible to get CL group stage without promotion to Elite, becoming an experienced Category 1 like Buquet, de Sousa and Kulbakov... we will see.

    2. I watched Bognar and his team live in Serbia-Moldova last year.
I was impressed with his man managment, control and self presentation on the pitch.
AR1 with incredible sideway movement and following the line of the second last defender.

      Good luck to Hungarian team!

    3. I must correct myself, AR1 was BUZAS Balazs, not Szert but AR2 was Georgiou :)

Question for Mark Szanto, how is Buzas ranked in Hungarian refereeing? Thanks

    4. Main candidates for a CL debut this season are IMO Kehlet, Madden, Bognar, Gözübüyük and Raczkowski, maybe also Kovacs.
Also a late debut of Banti could be possible to have a 3rd Italian, I think.

    5. Banti (with Mazzoleni and Rocchi) should leave the FIFA list at the end of this year, he will turn 45 on next March, so this should be the last season for him, according to AIA rules.
In case of appointment in CL, this would be just a gift at the end of career, but we saw that in recent times with Collina this never happened.

    6. Thanks for the reply.
So, he is just after most experianced ARs, nice to read that.

      @Chefren
When you mentioned Mazzoleni, I must ask when he made his tattoos? That must be something new

YC Gabrielzinho in Jagiellonia Białystok - Rio Ave FC. Reckless or SFP?

    2. RC would have been justified, however, YC is not a clear mistake. More SFP than reckless because the intensity was very high, but studs not so much up and maybe this can "save" the player...
