  1. So we have four people, who did not referee at the WC for MD1 in League A. I think, it's good to give these opportunities to the "next generation" of top referees. I could imagine, that Collum and Hategan are appointed on MD2 in the top league.
Only Elite in League B as well. If this is maintained, nearly every Elite referee will get 2 matches during the group stage - which sounds quite possible.
The First Group is only used in League C so far. If this is kept, there would not even be one match for each member of that category. So they might get some of the League D matches later on, I think.

  2. Good appointments.

Makkelie will definitely be Kuipers successor on the Elite group after his retirement.

  3. Unbelievable.

After so many years, I think that this is the first time a national FA makes a statement to announce that 4 referees from the top category are being punished for mistakes on their matches.

Does that statement violates the UEFA Convention?

    1. I remember only CAF making such public announcements, commenting referee performances and reporting punishments... but I never read that from a UEFA federation.
For sure, that's not good in any case. This can only destroy something but for sure it will never help in developing.
They could have done the same thing without making a public statement.
What about Sidiropoulos in Greek Super League? Is his level of performances better than other referees? I hope his position wont be in danger, otherwise Greek federation will destroy for sure everything for years about refeereing at international stage.

    2. It is rumoured that Sidiropoulos is amongst these 4 referees that will be punished about their performance in MD1 and MD2 in Greek superleague. Probably for 2-3 matchdays.

    3. Sidiropoulos will officiate some matches before UEFA Competitions

    4. Sidiropoulos is apparently punished for a crucial mistake in this situation

    5. Brazilian Football Confederation publicly punishes referees as wellbin case mistakes are game changers.

    6. The whole situation in Greece is a mess. The last 2 years more than 15 referees and 30 assistants have been removed from the Superleague List due to bad performances. And that with Perreira in charge.

Mr Pereira gets 22.000€ per month in order to improve Greek refereeing. But the result is disappointing. Referees and ARs are afraid and pressure is too high. Especially those who take charge of PAOK and AEK matches.

It is already confirmed that Pereira will have a Polish referee for PAOK-AEK on MD4. He also invited Austrian and Armenian referees for the next derbies.

I am too worried. UEFA/FIFA should definitely intervene.

    7. Appeasing the masses who generally think that referee's never face any sort of disciplinary action for poor performances. I'm all for it. Enough of these Ref Comm's operating in secrecy and who continuously coddle and readily accept below par performances. A little added incentive to do better and become better never hurt anyone.

    8. Armenian referees? I'd almost ask: do they actually play football there?

    9. In Serbia Referee Commission gives official statements about which referees are punished, for how long and for what mistakes.

    10. The rest of the world could learn something from how Serbia does things.

    11. @Teo What? They never did official statements. They did it once last year when phantom penalty happend in Spartak - Radnicki game.

    12. To clarify it, an official statement must be something reported on a website, like Greek federation did, not something just reported as "rumor".

  4. No either Sidiropoulos or any other referee will be punished. These is a “theater” from Pereira because he wants to invite foreign referees. There is a derby in 2 match days between PAOK and AEK and with the last years incident he is already afraid what will happen especially after the first two match days where there was many complaints from these two clubs.Pereira is taking almost 22000€ per month and he doesn’t want to lose that. But for sure he is losing the Greek referees.

  5. A quick look at Africa with 2019 AFCON qualifiers: we have the already known big names, interesting appointment for Jean-Jacques Ndala Ngambo (COD) with Morocco - Malawi.
Maguette Ndiaye is the new Senegalese pick, following Diedhiou retirement. He is appointed for Egypt - Niger with Diedhiou's assistant referees.

    1. Džeko's elbow YC is ok, not more than reckless.
Ćivić could have been RC: for sure it is a reckless tackle and we are close to SFP. Let's say: orange...
I hope that Královec had a good game.

  7. Good and easy first half for Michael Oliver in Switzerland-Iceland with 2 correct YC. Nothing special to report.

  8. I think overall a good first half by Makkelie with a correctly rejected penalty appeal by England. Full control so far.

  9. Well. Quite satisfied with Makkelie's performance today, and not only for me being a Spaniard and that disallowed goal in 97th minute.

  10. For sure, AAR2 was involved in this very important call.
However, let me say, in second half I was quite shocked by the injury suffered by Shaw, I hope he can recover soon, good to hear that some positive news are coming so far. After that, I couldn't watch the game so carefully like I did in first half...
