  1. Another signal that Dabanović is close to a promotion.

    1. May be. But Ukraine is already won the group

  2. Another very good appointment for Kruziak. I think that his time for a promotion has come.

Taylor gets another big appointment and Ardeleanu gets an important match right after his EL debut (good performance on an easy match).

  3. The biggest surprise here IMO is Al-Hakim with an still important League C match without previous EL debut.

    1. So we have a referee at the same time being from the same confederation as one of the teams and coming from a neighbouring country of the other team.

  12. Question to slovenian ref friends: do you know if Radeta Obrenovića will ref in UEFA in these days ? Thanks a lot

    1. It seems not, he isn't appointed in Slovenia either.

      Delete
    2. Do not know for sure, there has not been an official announcement by the Slovenian National Referee Association yet. Contrary to Sale, I think that he might be appointed as a part of the SVN referee team for the National League.

      Delete
    3. Thanks , I hope to see him on TV soon. He is one of my preferred ref right now. Please, if you have news write here.

    4. @Andreja, of course, I was only saying that so far no announcement has been made. Maybe it was too early (6 am) and I wasn't clear ;)

    5. Sale and Andreja, please, are you from Slovenia ? If you dont wanna answer , no problem.

    6. @Sale, OK, no problem :-)
      @pita falta: Yes

    7. Please post news about Rade and Vincic, two excellent referees. You may have realized that I'm a fan of Rade.

    8. @pita falta Rade Obrenovic with his AR Tomislav Pospeh are currently in Armenia, participating at the UEFA U17 tournament http://www.nzs.si/novica/Obrenovic_na_turnirju_v_Armeniji?id=47977&id_objekta=40

    9. NZS is wrong. It's a friendly tournament, not UEFA U17 quali.

  13. Highlights of Irfan Peljto, who became the first Bosnian to officiate a EL group match in six years (after Alečković...), officiating the hot Sarajevski Derbi between FK Sarajevo - FK Željezničar.

Peljto faced a match containing ten YCs and two RCs and players who played very nervously; absolutely challenging task facing the referees on the pitch.

Watch 'fast-paced' refereeing highlights on the link below.

    https://streamable.com/oloac

Peljto impressed me both times I watched him, and he has pretty good chances to ascend to UEFA First Category for my taste.

    1. Great highlights, very interesting. I don't agree with all his decisions, but overall the big picture is very good. He clearly is a very respected authority.

I think he could improve on the way he uses his whistle and a bit less passive behaviour. But those are things that works in EL. I can imagine that in a Bosbian derby this approach works.

      Delete
    2. Let me say that I'm impressed with his managment skills and level of acceptance.
I agree with Rik B, I dont agree with all the decisions but managment is very good.

He is good psychologist and kind of a referee who doesn't leave things unscaled (Unclear) with players.
The moment of the prevention is very smart...
He starts conversation even before player complains

Good to see that Bosnia and Hercegovina have one very talented referee

  14. U21 play off full appointments:

    16 November 2018, 17:00 CET - Thessaloniki (Stádio Toúmbas)
    GREECE - AUSTRIA
    Referee: Andris Treimanis (LVA)
Assistant Referee 1: Haralds Gudermanis (LVA)
Assistant Referee 2: Aleksejs Spasjonņikovs (LVA)
    Fourth Official: Aleksandrs Golubevs (LVA)
UEFA Referee Observer: Haim Jakov (ISR)
    UEFA Delegate: Lennart Vestervall (SWE)

    16 November 2018, 18:00 CET - Zabrze (Arena Zabrze)
    POLAND - PORTUGAL
    Referee: Georgi Kabakov (BUL)
Assistant Referee 1: Martin Margaritov (BUL)
Assistant Referee 2: Diyan Valkov (BUL)
    Fourth Official: Stanislav Todorov (BUL)
UEFA Referee Observer: Levan Paniashvili (GEO)
    UEFA Delegate: Rudolf Zavrl (SVN)

Apparently, Kabakov and Treimanis have already a certain trust by committee, in such important games, there are "normal observers".

    1. Both should also be good bets for the final tournament.
Early (quite obvious) prediction for that: Ekberg, Grinfeld, Kabakov, Kehlet, Kovacs, Massa, Raczkowski, Siebert, Treimanis
First alternatives could be Aghayev, Jovanovic and Özkahya.

      Delete
    2. If we go back to 2017 tournament, the only referees without CL debut are Lechner (AUT) and Gözübüyük (NED). I think we are allowed to say that UEFA expected more from them... but of course for both the debut is still possible.

      Delete
    3. In 2017 play-offs, first legs were handled by Oliver and Bastien, and second legs by Kruzliak and Gözübüyük

      Delete
    4. And from 2015, we have 3 WC referees and 2 more Elite referees - only Estrada failed to even get a CL match.

  15. Interesting situation for AAR1 in SVN-NOR (30'), GLT stuff. No adequate replays so far, but it seemed like a correct "no goal" decision. Quite some protests of NOR.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Branislav Hancko made a crucial mistake to disallow a Denmark goal, it was a close ONSIDE situation.
Otherwise, good Kružliak so far (38').

    ReplyDelete
  17. Missed YC for Digne, arm to the face, clearly reckless.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Blatant missed foul and YC by Taylor (37'). Otherwise good so far.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Digne should have been off by now. Late stomp, ellbow and now late and high challenge. Only the last one led to the overdue caution.

  20. Chefren, there is a mistake:Observer for taylor in Rotterdam is from Danemark(IIRC) not England.

  21. Potential RC for VC by Ethan Amapadu in Wales vs Denmark for challenge on Dolberg in 86' min? Contact could be judged as excessive force made with opponent's head/neck https://streamable.com/kd5rm Regardless, Ivan Kružliak managed the situation very well

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks for this clip. In my opinion YC is okay.

This was a revenge foul, for one minutes earlier by Dolberg- the tackle didn't endanger opponents safety, but was absolutely savage with no control of his body; in my opinion, this should have been a RC.

Overall Kružliak showed an impressive disciplinary control / prevention. Surely Slovakian will be promoted in the next time.

      Delete
    2. Thank you for your opinion.

The original challenge by Dolberg that caused Ampadu to take this revenge: https://streamable.com/c3q0a

For me this tackle is a strong yellow card - showing lack of care or consideration for the welfare of the opponent (especially with proximity to advertising boarding etc) but not enough for a RC.

Yes I agree with your overall remarks, Kružliak did vey well to manage a difficult period towards the game and throughout the game with 9 supportable cautions. His ability to act fast and produce a quick card if necessary with presence and impact to diffuse challenging situations was very impressive

      Delete
    3. Thanks again for the clip.

I over estimated the emphasis of the studs in the tackle, the thigh / upper body is the point of the challenge.
You're right- YC is the right solution there.

      Delete
    4. My view: Dolberg YC, Ampadu RC. Ampadu's attack was directed at an opponent. His only intention was to hurt an opponent. It was really wild.

      Delete
    5. Both YC and RC supportable. Great job by Kruzliak handling a situation that could have easily gotten out of control.

      Delete
    6. Thank you for your views. Yes I agree, in my opinion YC is supportable on both incidents. Kružliak should receive great kudos for way he stopped both situations from bubbling over.

  23. Pitana released an interesting interview to an Italian newspaper today, he is in Italy for receiving an award (Premio Campanati) following WC.
Among other things, he stated that VAR is very important and he has now the idea to become a politician, if possible, he wants to do something for his region.
A very serious injury (tendinitis) has stopped him since last August.

    2. Penalty looks a bit soft, but probably acceptable.
2nd Yellow Card could easily (maybe should) have been a straight Red.

      Delete
    3. I agree Phillip - contact is exceedingly high up the leg of the opponent with considerable force and endangers the safety in my opinion, therefore should be straight RC. Thank you for the clips Mikael.

      Delete
    4. Penalty is soft but supportable, see how much AR2 was determined I think even before the whistle of main referee. If you are so convinced, you can sell your decisions in a very good way.
About Ardeleanu: clear RC for SFP. I didn't like the management by referee, at first glance he looked to be even in doubt about the YC to be shown. Not a strong body language...

      Delete
    5. Also: He failed to whistle a very strong challenge on a LIE player half a minute earlier. Played stayed down for the entire time, even as play continued around him and was definitely injured. Neither whistling the challenge (unfortunately, we didn't get another look, seemed YC territory for me) nor stopping play was not a very good decision. LIE players did not protest too much, but such scenes really can make a game turn nasty.

  27. OT: I have seen that Miranda, Mularczyk and Vulivuli were not appointed at all (even as 4th) during the U17WC. Does anyone know, why? It seems as there are only 12 and not 15 referees used in the tournament.
