  1. More of the same. CL referees in Andorra and Luxembourg in clear match-ups who are on paper relevant for qualification, but more likely are not. A pity, international breaks used to be opportunities to see some new refs, not the same ones every week. Could also not be the best in the long run, if there are no breaks for the Top 20 or so...

  2. If Czech republic- Kosova will be X2 than Kosovo- England would be a very important game. Kosovo with direct qualification on the table, England looking for a top-seed position in EURO 2020 draw. As i see, there is no Elite referee for this game ...

    1. I agree with what you are implying. To be honest I was shocked that Paweł Gil got this game - no disrespect to him. UEFA are clearly backing Czechia to win tonight, but it is a distinct possibility that won't play out, and Kosovo - England in case will be a fully decisive game.

It seems Gil is the man for top clashes in the last matchday of European Qualifying! If I remember correctly, he handled the Serbia - Georgia game well in 2018 cycle. But the game on Sunday could be sth else entirely.

  3. It is difficult to make appointments before results of the previous matchday, I can understand why committee prefers all Category 1 and Elite options in almost all games...

    1. Yes, but even if Iceland should win at Turkey, the match in Andorra for example isn't one that requires an elite referee. I would have understood perhaps Peljto, or a bit more experienced 2nd cat (Bezborodov e.g.). It also does not explain the Group I appointments.

But yeah, it seems to want to play it extra safe.

  4. Madden really is in favour at the moment - already the 4th EURO qualifier and he had 3 CL matches. A promotion in winter would not be a surprise, I think. So maybe he is just preferred over Gil Manzano, and therefore we have that order in group B.
About group A, I share the feelings, that KOS-ENG looks more important before today's matches and therefore a switch of Karasev and Gil seemed sensible.

  5. Horațiu Feșnic from U21 Italy - Iceland

How it is possible to miss such foul?
The end of game was full of confrontations and cards - no control at all by the young Romanian. This missed foul was the start of a very poor end of the game for him.

  6. Interesting fact:
At 1997, in WC-98 qualifications, Bulgaria played against Russia at the same stadium (Vasil Levski). Bulgaria won 1-0, but the Czech referee Krondl missed 3 or even 4 PK's for Russia. It was a really nightmare performance.
Today, we have this triangle again - Bulgaria plays against Czechia with a Russian ref. Hopefully, Karasev will perform well...

  7. Excellent onside befor 0-1 for Turkey by Slovakian AR2 Branislav Hancko.

Correct and clear penalty for Turkey in min. 21' by Ivan Kružliak.
