  1. Interesting game for Sánchez Martínez with Vassarás (former committee member) as observer.

    1. In my opinion the game Sanchez Martinez got is where he deserves to be right now. He is doing a good job in Spain and he seems to be on a promotion way. A good game on Sunday could be a big step for the Spanish referee.

    2. I want to thank Dr Emu a very powerful spell caster who help me to bring my husband back to me, few month ago i have a serious problem with my husband, to the extend that he left the house, and he started dating another woman and he stayed with the woman, i tried all i can to bring him back, but all my effort was useless until the day my friend came to my house and i told her every thing that had happened between me and my husband, then she told me of a powerful spell caster who help her when she was in the same problem I then contact Dr Emu and told him every thing and he told me not to worry my self again that my husband will come back to me after he has cast a spell on him, i thought it was a joke, after he had finish casting the spell, he told me that he had just finish casting the spell, to my greatest surprise within 48 hours, my husband really came back begging me to forgive him, if you need his help you can contact him with via email: Emutemple@gmail.com or add him up on his whatsapp +2347012841542 is willing to help any body that need his help.

  2. Quite surprising League A appointments for Beaton and Pandzic.
The Scotsman didn't seem to be on top of the First Group before with e.g. only 1 EL match last season.
And Pandzic as first Second Group referee in that league with no EL match so far - and only a minor game in this year's qualifications.

Schärer's (already second) appointment confirms that he is regarded quite highly.
Besides him, also Massa with a second match.

    1. Nice to see John Beaton given a reasonable appointment but can anyone from Scotland tell me why Nick Walsh has not had even a 4th official appointment, in my view watching Scottish matches regularly he is the outstanding performer at present, well above Collum and Madden. I know he is a teacher by profession and could this perhaps the reason as he is regularly being appointed in Scotland but not abroad

      Delete
    2. However, Walsh has been nominated FIFA referee, so this mean on paper he should have time for international appointments. Let's wait for the next days, maybe he has a game in Under 21 or even Nations League Matchday 4. There are many options.

    3. Is Steven McLean falling into the Dallas trap! Not good enough and pumped from the FIFA list but now gets numerous FO appointments!

      Delete
    4. I expected a better observer for Beaton.

      Delete
    5. If I recall correctly, McLean was removed from the FIFA List due to a huge mistake in an international match, not at his request, which makes his situation very different than Dallas.

  3. Good appointment for Stieler as well. I think committee wants to see if Stieler ist the true German No2 behind Brych

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Now with Aytekin out due to injury and Zwayer not in the best form, Stieler could get very big games in Champions League group stage.
It is up to him to show that he could deserve a promotion, however one must also mention Siebert who is in focus by committee for promotion as well.
Things will be clearer in a few months, while it seems as it is not still sure whether Brych will continue for EURO 2020 or not.

    2. True! I think both are reliable referees, which both have to show that they can handle as well the big clashes.
But I don't think both are long term solutions, as we have referees with huge talent like Jablonski and of course Badstübner, which made a really good debut last Saturday in Schalke against Leipzig.

      Delete
    3. Don't forget Benjamin Brand, who has recovered from a long injury and is a very big talent, close to Fifa nomination and a very experienced and reliable Videoref as well!

      Delete
  4. Pandžić and Beaton the suprises of the day.
Del Cerro Grande with a top clash, Stieler to follow...

    1. What about Mateu, Skomina and Turpin? if i am not wrong no appointment so far in Nations League.

      Delete
    2. It's normal, the three you mention are designated on October 8 on the European Qualifiers Playoff Semifinals !!

      Delete
    3. Yes, but they have EURO play-offs, therefore I didn't consider them.
I didn't know about Vad, then maybe Stavrev instead.

      Delete
    4. Yes but they can also be planned for Nations League MD4 next week, why not? Some Names here already had 1 appointment in MD1, MD2 or MD3

      Delete
    5. I can return the favour and tell you, that Aytekin is also injured. :)
Otherwise you have some duplicates with MD1/2 (Oliver, Chrystofi).

@Nathan: Yes, it is not impossible, but IMO it would be more sensible to spread the appointments out.
The referee involved in play-offs can get important matches on MD5/6 then.

      Delete
  6. Three out of four members in Karasev's team in Bosnia have been replaced by Romanian crew, István Kovács finally getting an appointment, but as replacement. Only the fourth official Ivanov from Russia has been confirmed.
A Russian delegate has been replaced for another game as well.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why all these changes?

      Delete
    2. Now, after this appointment I know why Kovacs was changed from the game in Malmo. It's not his regular team. I think that Vasile Marinescu, who is AR1, is infected with Covid, so Kovacs and Artene were contact with him. They had many games together. So, Valentin Avram replace Vasile Marinescu, because both are from Bucharest. I expect the regular team in MD2.

      Delete
  7. No chance for Christofi to travel again to Latvia. He was there for MD1 LVA-AND.Also Farkas was appointed on MD1. IMO the committee will appoint other referees from 2nd Group.

    ReplyDelete
  8. New appointment for KAZ-ALB:
Muntean - Bodean, Ermischin - Banari (all MDA)

    ReplyDelete

    1. Maybe related to the assistant referee replaced today in Moldova - Germany under 21, as it is possible that he was in contact with other Hungarian referees on past days...

  9. Two incidents from yesterday's Ukraine - Germany, handeled by Orel Grinfeld:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F46pnTw-2w8

75' (2:19 min in the video) - Penalty given
90+3' (2:30 min in the video) - Penalty appeal; not given

IMO in both situations penalty should have been whisteled.

    1. Yea there was, McClean hit his opponent on the foot. In my opinion two perfectly acceptable yellow cards. Then afterwards ridiculous behavior of McClean towards his opponent, just like after his first yellow card. Frustration all over...

  11. Sergey Karasev was tested positive for covid19

  12. England-Belgium. Correct penalty call?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Clear foul, I think.
BTW, you could hear the AR shout "It was not the ball", so he gave the decisive input.

      Delete
  13. That explains why the referee backed up before making the call, adding some ambiguity to it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. He even warned that defender some minutes before, if I got that right. Good call.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The penalty given by Al-Hakim in ESTMKD for handling...

Correct penalty given by Weinberger in LTUBLR - I think you can make a decent case it's a DOGSO offence too.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No DOGSO IMO - the ball is not under control and another defender nearby.

      Delete
    2. Yes I agree, yellow card is the correct outcome.

However personally given the high chance the attacker has to score I would prefer to see a RC there :)

      Delete
  16. PK + YC for EST21 for handball.

I would support that call as VAR, however arm was quite close to the body.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. PK + YC for MKD17 in 75', also for handball.

No proper replay, but player didn't complain that much...

  17. Meanwhile in America's USL Championship (second-tier league).
The referee is Elvis Osmanovic. VAR is not used by the league.

    https://twitter.com/i/status/1315157130937348096

The goal stood, Phoenix won 1-0, and Sacramento was eliminated from the playoffs. Good to see the cracking job that Howard Webb is doing with his "PRO" referee's. The 2020 USL Championship season has been one to forget about for its referee's.

  18. 2' Very good YC for reckless use of arms by del Cerro in FRA-POR.

  19. Maybe you remember what I wrote about Manganelli and the choice by AIA to remove him from serie A panel, without the chance to attend EURO 2020 on next year. Well, there are some news. He indeed has started a lawsuit against AIA, asking for the reintegration and so being able to attend the major tournament. At moment AIA is not living good times, the same action against the association was started by other referees who were dismissed from serie B: Minelli and Baroni. My opinion is that this season many decisions were taken without full transparency, contrary to past years (some referees got derogations without clear indications and so on), so it is a right action to ask for more clarity.

    1. It all started with Gavillucci...

  20. Good first half by Sánchez Martínez in Poland - Italy, full control in a game played with intensity by both teams, not easy.
Referee looks to be focused, clear YC correctly issued for reckless use of elbow.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ISL-DEN : Why doesn't the AR2 run towards the center line when the ball was in? He stays with the flag up! 45'

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe he waited until the referee whistled?

Also not completely clear, that the ball was completely behind the line. Probably yes, but I couldn't see a proof.

      Delete
    2. this was a poor guess by the AR2.. unfortunatly

      Delete
    3. AR is not at the endline when disission was made.
Impossible for AR to see because ball was at the far post.
Ball is always in contact with the post on its side, so the ball can never have crossed the line...

      Delete
    4. The ball did not completely cross the goal line, according to the tv images shown.

  22. RC and penalty in Greece by Higler, any info?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Correct call. But an unlikely one. Short tug on a striker who was through on goal and did not get to take the shot against the outrushing goalkeeper - but he did not go down. RC for DOGSO and penalty.

      Delete
    2. Late penalty for MDA for a similar offence (but clearly no DOGSO this time).

      Delete
    3. Wouldn’t call the penalties correct, supportable at best. Hardly a tug, just extremely slight contacts. On top level these penalties are not expected/desired.
Apart from that a phantom foul indirectly lead to 2-0 for the Greek. Nothing happened here.
No material for uefa top level refereeing in my humble opinion.

      Delete
  23. Possible handball before the 0-1 by Hungary, but I have difficulties to be sure about the contact.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Solid second half by Sánchez Martínez as well, correct cards issued, this was an important test for him with Vassaras and I think he is ready for Champions League debut. The difficulty of this game was between normal and quite challenging, rather "normal", but not easy. He managed it well, good communication with players and benches.

    1. Missed handball before 1-0 Russia. If there was VAR most probably this would be cancelled. Min 28.
Borderline YC for Turkey #14. Might be RC. Min 27. Imo should be RC. Again if there was VAR he would be sent off for violent conduct.
Missed YC at 3 min for Turkey #15.
Also he didn't assess fouls correctly for both teams.

      Delete
    2. Correct public warning for #15 at 3 min.
Borderline but correct YC #14 (he didn't step on the opponent's leg just slid over).
No handball before 1-0, no clue what you are talking about.

But indeed it's 4th division so I guess that Clattenburg won't bother at all hahaha
