  2. WOW, Rosetti in Belgrade! Hot atmoshpere, Serbian and Turkish teams with a crucial game for both side, very well-known way of playing, we couldn't ask for more than that.
Which Category 1 (I guess) with this "honor"?

    1. I think one of these names: Visser / Rumšas / Pinheiro / Ekberg / Nyberg

      Delete
    2. I'm skeptic about Visser considering he handled Crvena Zvezda-Trabzonspor 2 weeks ago already, in the same place.

      Delete
    3. Pinheiro would be a good choice, imo. He should be most familiar with hot clashes like this (successfully handled huge games in Liga Portugal). It would be in line with a quick path he has in UEFA competitions - promotion to elite would become possible in case of good/very good performance, no big damage in case of failure as he still will have time to recover from it.

Or maybe the last test for Andreas Ekberg? Rosetti checking if he can control a hot game after his failure in this regard at EURO. He was very good (extremely focused, perfect control) in Benfica - Maccabi Haifa (UCL MD1) and this game can be the decisive step before being promoted.

    4. I'd like to see Ekberg / Rumsas. Is there any chance we would see Sidiropoulos?

  3. Excluding Supercup, Rosetti has observed 3 referees so far this season:

    Eskas in Monaco-Ferencváros (EL MD2)
Visser in SVN-NOR (Nations League MD5)
    Dabanovic in Bayern-Plzen (UCL MD3)

  4. What a finale for Soto Grado in Sevilla-Valencia.

1-1 in 90+7', Valencia starts a counterattack that ends in a DOGSO RC for Papu Gómez. Then Soto Grado is called to an OFR for a possible missed PK for Valencia in the same attack, so Gómez's RC is downgraded to YC (due to advantage) and a PK to Valencia + RC for DOGSO (pushing from behind, PK committed not attempting to play the ball) for Sevilla defender Salas are given. Three decisions changed after a single VAR intervention :D

    3. Thank God for VAR ,if it wasnt for that Grado would be in a lot of trouble.

Same goes for Villanueva, missed penalty in favour of Rayo that he had to call once he was called by VAR to look .

Also we had Munuera Montero in a challenging match between Getafe and Bilbao where he had to issue 10 cards which is for his lenient standard plenty.

He has lot of troubles when handling Getafe matches who are one of dirtier and team with very fiery players like Suarez,Mata,Duarte,Portu,Milla and even GK Soria, sometimes he let's them do to much and talk too much and then when he does not have clear line that can often led to chaos.

    4. But yesterday he was very consequent and had a clear line. I think that is the reason why he did not need to give so many cards in second half like in first half

    5. Grado was very good in Seville. Situation with red card and penalty was not easy at all so I understand that he missed penalty. Great referee, probably best one in la liga after big 4.

  5. With one month before WC2022, Istvan Kovacs had a really challenging game in Romanian Superliga game between CFR Cluj vs Sepsi OSK (2-1). All crucial decisions revolve around potential missed red cards:

To mention that VAR (Florin Andrei) didn't intervene in any of the below situations.

Min 6' - Possible missed RC for Sepsi OSK (DOGSO)
    https://youtu.be/BeMW5kZC2Ic?t=1328

Min 29' - Possible missed RC for CFR Cluj (elbowing)
    https://youtu.be/BeMW5kZC2Ic?t=1472

Min 64' - Possible missed RC for CFR Cluj (stepping on opponent player)
    https://youtu.be/BeMW5kZC2Ic?t=1857

Min 68' - Possible missed RC for CFR Cluj (elbowing)
    https://youtu.be/BeMW5kZC2Ic?t=1977

Also a technical error in min 90', when Kovacs shows a "2nd" YC and then RC to a CFR player who hasn't been booked previously.
    https://youtu.be/BeMW5kZC2Ic?t=2066

In my opinion, first 3 situations required a mandatory RC, especially those from mins 29' and 64' where the home team players hit appear to their opponents intentionally and with intensity.

For the collision in min 68' I think YC is ok, it was a 50/50 situation in which both players tried to reach the ball. Kovacs to be praised here for the quick intervention, as it seems like the Sepsi OSK goalkeeper lost consciousness for a few seconds.

    1. Thank you for the clips - I found them to be interesting.
6' For me correct YC, covering defender
29' Borderline for me, so no VAR intervention. The force seems to be high, but it is not a classic allbow. The fact that the arm is not bend speaks for the offender.
64' Very interesting. For me there is too much doubt for a RC. The attacker tries to jump over the defender. The momentum of the defender brings this unlucky landing. Similiar situation to Aurier vs. Coman here: https://www.wahretabelle.de/forum/rote-karte-fur-serge-aurier/35/154?page=1&spieltag=1&saisonId=313
68' I agree with you. I dont see a flying ellbow or the attacker trying to hurt the GK. YC.

    2. Indeed, it was a difficult game, but Kovacs`s recent form already starts to worry me. Leave aside the error in Sofia and the controversial game in August, what happened in Leverkusen-Porto and in this game above is not a good sign. Too bad, because he started the season very convincing with Dinamo Zagreb-Chelsea and Denmark-France, solid performances there. I hope he will get close to the level he showed in the first half of the year in the KO stage, the UCL SF was a masterclass.

Above that game above, I wont`t analyze the moments in detail and I will let others to do it, but isn`t the silence of VAR strange? It might sound ridiculous, some "specialists" comment on TV that when low rated referees are appointed as VAR, they do not dare to correct a high rated referee on the pitch (especially Kovacs, but also was said sometimes in Petrescu and Fesnic games) and invite him to OFR. I compare it with what happens in airplanes when the young copilot is afraid to correct or doubt the judgement of the experienced senior pilot. This lack of courage caused many fatal crashes in the past and so I might say happens sometimes in football games, figurative speaking. Did you have this problem in the first years of VAR? Any practical advice about how to calm the press and avoid this speculations?

    1. IMO it's a clear foul and correct decision by VAR

      Delete
    2. this is a clear push, and foul by the attacker, so indeed correct decision by VAR

      Delete
    3. Good intervention after a clear foul

      Delete
    4. I think it's a foul, probably also for VAR. If this kind of play from the striker is allowed, they can just put their arm into the ribs every time. They have nothing to lose (probably no YC) and a lot to win!

  7. Yeah for me never var stuff

  8. Does anyone of our la liga experts know what exactly happened between Sergio Canales and Mateu Lahoz yesterday.
in 90+6 Canales was sent off by first a yellow card and then 2yc. All I red was in "football-espana" that canales asked mateu if he could add one more minute. For that Question mateu gave a yellow card and said: "“If you keep talking to me, I’ll send you off." Canales then said: “If I can’t speak, then don’t ask me any more about personal matters.” and got 2yc. Knowing that Canales is one of the most fair players in La Liga who never saw a red card before and that he was in no way agressive to mateu all the time I can believe that story but then I am very disappointed by mateu, putting himself in the spotlights one more time.
    But maybe someone knows more?

    1. IMO, Mateu is the best when he does his job seriously, but many times he does what he wants. I ask myself if he would do the same if the player was a big star like Ronaldo, Messi or Suárez. Honestly, I don't think so. It seems to me a very hypocritical attitude: he continually asks the players about their personal lives, but when he is not interested, they cannot tell him anything... Always at the center of the controversy, he likes to be the protagonist. It's what I like least about him.

    2. Fully agree... he gave us really unforgettable performances, but personally I´ll be pleased once he is retired.

    [Tiago Martins, Luís Godinho]

  10. Not challenging game for Hernández Hernández whose performance was satisfactory in general, but he has a rare aptitude to infuriate players and coaches by his foul detection/selection (the same case in POLNED when I last saw him).

    4. Thank you! Indeed the situation with two yellow cards after advantage explains how much a referee must be mentally engaged during the whole game and before every whistle, he can't be relaxed for a while, this can cost an important mistake. See Hernandez Hernandez ready to stop the game with the whistle in his mouth, then having the courage to wait.. it is definitely very difficult, potentially, every second and every action of a game can bring to troubles in case of poor management due to missed alertness.
